I had a horrible experience with the location in Garden Grove. I had to reschedule my appointment to have my dog spayed twice because she got cellulitis and mange one right after another so she was on meds for a couple months. Both times I called and talked to whoever answers their phones, gave the information, and was told that Id have to schedule about a month after she had finished taking her meds. Finally she was clear of both diseases and i took off work to take her in for spaying. By this time she was already in heat so i found out the vet would make the call about how much extra id have to pay once surgery was over which could be up to an extra $100. I was fine with that because she needed to be spayed! Anyways, after completing paperwork i was put in an examining room the the head tech went to talk to the vet because on the paperwork i disclosed the cellutitis and mange. She came back and told me the vet said no he wouldnt do the surgery - AT ALL EVER. She said it had something to do with the long healing time after. I explained that i had talked to their office twice about this and was never told there would be a problem. She said (rudely) that she didnt know who i talked to but the vet makes the final decision. HE DIDNT EVEN EXAMINE HER! She was totally unsympathetic when i explained i had taken off work, etc. I even tried calling back asking if my vet wrote a letter that she was totally cleared of the diseases would they do it - the tech didnt even ask the vet just said no! After i went to my vet and he was as perplexed as i was. This was a terrible experience. Unbelievable for an organization that is suppose to foster spaying!

I am a first time dog owner and when my dog vomited a worm I freaked out and went the next day to the vet. My dog is up to date on all his vaccines and was also dewormed. I also noticed that my dog was not eating normally and I figured that the worms might have something to do with it. When I went in the staff for the most part were great until the (vet) came in. He asked what the problem was and I showed the the worm. He examined my dog and while he was doing that I told him that he also hasnt been eating like he normally does. His answer? " I wouldnt want to eat either with my collar on that tight." He then told me that my dog shouldnt even be wearing a collar. Huh? Then how should my dog wear his ID tags then? He then told me if my dog HAS to wear a collar to make sure I can fit three fingers with the collar on (I was able to fit three fingers but I loosened it anyways.) then he just left. The nurse came back and told me they were going to give him a deworming pill and to come back in 2 weeks. When I went to check out the office staff gave me pills for my dog to take for a week. I asked what they were for and they seemed confused that the vet didnt give me info about the medication. They had to go back and ask him. I will not go back here again for vet services. With vaccines I have never had a problem but never again for the vet. The Vet seemed rushed and offered no information or asked any questions but was quick to scold me.

Several years ago (I should have done this sooner) my beloved pet Sparky, was over 20 years old was beginning to suffer. Having had several pets Euthanized at this facility, and having a caring and loving staff, I knew it was time for Sparky. My husband and I went into the office and waited. The staff was wonderful except....when it came time to Euthanize my baby boy...the vet, (or whatever he was) was rude, uncaring and short..he was so busy playing solitare in the hallway of the facility, he just wanted to get back to his game. He did NOT allow me to be in there with my dog and by the time I knew he quipped, in a rude manner "if you want to be in there, then go somewhere else" I was already grieving and I couldnt think. Sparky was Euthanized without me there and am still having a difficult time with my decision. I dont know if that "person" is still there.that treated me and my companion, Sparky of 20 plus years, with such horrific treatment..but it doesnt matter. I will never go there and I will never tell anyone else to go there. Nothing...nothing....nothing will ever take me there again.

I have been bringing all my little rescues and feral cats here since I found this place. Its only $30 to get a cat spayed, $40 to get your dog fixed and the rabies is only $8. Vet Exam $15, flea prevention is cheap (Comfortis $18). As for the complaints about killing FIV cats Marley had it and was ill on the daily and even had bleeding eyes. I rang up many vet bills over $1000 by the time he was 2. The problem is not just if they get outside but the fact the immune system is strained and they can get secondary illnesses easier which can be past on to other cats. In my case I had an older geriatric cat and middle adult cat in the house as well. Every time he was ill the other two started getting ill. Keeping an FIV alone the rest of their lives is a waste when so many healthy animals are put to death daily. San Bernardino Devore shelter kills an average of over 35 animals daily/ 365 a year including holidays. There are many reasons to not only fix your pet and not breed but also not risk having ill animals around to spread illness to ones that are healthy and also deserve homes.

ive been taking all my animals and un-fixed strays there for over 20 years... this place is amazing, affordable and humane. I have no idea what all the one star ratings are about other than it sounds like the one star people were not taking care of their pets in the first place, waited until they were gravely ill and then expected the vets to perform literal miracles... GSHS are humans - compassionate, extremely well respected, highly educated humans, not animal mind readers of the magic animal hospital of rock candy mountain... its a clinic, not a private practice. Those who need their hands held (as well as their pets) need to pay the extra money to go to a private practice for the extra butt-kissing they seem to expect everywhere they go. (i swear, people!) Having said that, PLEASE take the one star reviews with a grain of sand... I would and do take all my animals there, for the last 20 years! I LOVE THIS PLACE! a millions stars! <3

Took advantage of my dying cat and I, a year and a half ago! I brought my 17+ year old cat that I had rescued of the street when I was child here. Even though she was suffering pooping/throwing up blood, and they couldnt fix her or even figure out why. They just wanted to do more and more expensive test, after i was pretty sure they were just taking advantage of my situation. I asked about putting her down because I couldnt take saying her suffer like that with no answers no end in sight. He literally refused, because he said "she still has some good years in her" at 17+! After all that talk of saving her, when I took her to a new vet. I requested the test results & x-rays, for a second opinion before I put her down. They didnt even response, like really! P.S. I had been coming here for years and had no problem before this but the way he treated my cat was unacceptable!
