Summary - Banfield Whittier does not care about your pet and will refuse to refill an emergency heart medication prescription even after being contacted by the prescribing vet and being faxed a prescription because the pet hadnt been to enough vet visits at this location. W.T.F. My dog has been diagnosed with a severe heart murmur and has to be on daily medication. Today his medication ran out and the shipment that was supposed to be here got tied up in the mail, so since my dog had been to this locations several years ago and they have my pets records, I figured his regular vet could fax over the prescription and I could fill it no problem. Easy, right? No. Even though my pet has been to this location, since he doesnt have an ongoing relationship with the vet (read - since they havent been collecting money from me since 2011), they refused to even do a temporary fill of his prescription EVEN WITH MY VET FAXING THE PRESCRIPTION AND SPEAKING TO THEM. They refused to temporarily fill a needed, lifesaving medication even after speaking to a pet cardiologist. They referred me to a human pharmacy like CVS even though the medication is not approved for human use and thus not available this way. Banfield is out to nickel and dime, and does not care for your animal.

Dont get me wrong the staff was very friendly. I went to get my pup his shots, I have seen other vets for my past dogs give it to them in the skin on the back. But this place gave it to him in the muscle of the arm. For my pervious dogs when ever they had an alergic reaction I gave them half a pill of Benadryl. For him since he is a puppy I gave him half a baby benadryl, cause his arm started swelling up at the injection site, and he couldnt sleep or get comfortable. Once I gave him the baby benadryl he was finally able to sleep. The vet told me to come and bring him back if there is swelling so THEY can administer the benadryl, now I know someone that did take her puppy back and they charged her quite a bit to administer the benadryl. When I heard that I told her that she could have given to her puppy herself. Few days later one of my dogs got stung by a bee his whole face started to swell up, my friend started panicing, I gave him a half a pill of benadryl, then a half hour later the swelling went down, and he went to sleep because he was stressed from the whole ordeal. All in all I think for my pups last set Ill just take him to my normal vet, no clue why I took my husbands advice about going here.

I came to Petsmart to get a dewormer for my 3 1/2 month old pup. Instead, they swayed me to get the vet to do, which costed me an additional $50 for the office visit. They also said he was due for his rabies shot, which was a week after, but I got it all done so I didnt have to bring him back. & I also got the shot just in case he gets a reaction to the rabies shot. The vet was awful, she did not care about the pup. She was quick in & out. So, they said that next time I dont have to get that shot to see if he would get a reaction, Childrens Benadryl is fine. Why didnt she tell me this before I got it... waste of my $25. Anything for my puppy <3 I would not recommend this place again though. I think they care more about selling their services than what your pet actually needs.

They really dont care as much about your pet as they do about selling their overpriced wellness plans. They use scare tactics to try to get you more treatment for your dog than necessary. The last straw for me was the fact that they will not fill prescriptions ordered online (i.e. 1800petmeds) even though these places are licensed with the AVMA. Youre much better off going elsewhere.

I took my 4year old yorkie in for the first time visit at this location. He had gotten attacked and bitten by a pit bull. They wete very concerned and the vet provided good care considering it was almost closing time. I found the price for medication pricey. But, overall, the service was fine. My dog is still healing but hell be fine. Thank you Banfield.

Didnt get the impression these people really knew what they were talking about. After asking for $500 worth of tests before they could tell me what was wrong with my dog, I decided to search out a place with better user reviews. Very corporate, not reasonable.
