We feel compelled to seek justice and alert the Dental Board concerning Dr. Scomas practice. Dr. Scoma needlessly drilled out the root nerve and then crown two of our four year old daughters front teeth, which had no decay in order to make extra money from California Medi-Cal. We also feel that he preformed fast, but not careful, or considerate pediatric dentistry; which has lead to continued inflammation and infection. We feel Dr. Scoma used his professional position to pressure us into trusting him, taking advantage of us and our four year old daughter, as well as California Medi-Cal system, for his own extra profit. We feel no dentist should be allowed to needlessly preform abusive root canals on children, or on any one for that matter and then fraudulently charge for what was an unnecessary and a painful procedure. We demand that Dr. Scomas actions be addressed by the California Dental Board, and appropriate legal and licensing measures are taken to prevent this abuse of his professional position.

Asked Dr. Scoma to call us to review the medication used for my sons cavity treatment. Never heard back from him. Seemed unwilling to use anything but benzodiazepines to medicate my toddler for his cavities, with no pediatric anesthesiologist present (no IV, no pulse monitor, or reversal agents present if he were to stop breathing) thats a risk no parent should take for their childs life. Total rip off either way, charged us 175 for Versed when its sold over the counter for around 10 dollars a bottle.

My two kids are followed by Dr. Scoma for several years for regular cleaning. My insurance reimburse fully regular cleanings. However, the last few times I always end up with expensive bills to pay because of extra treatments he is doing without clear explanation. My kids had never had any cavity so I wonder why we have to pay so much. In the office, they give you a price for the treatments, and then we receive bills at home for much more.

Dr. Scoma and his staff are awesome. They did a great job seeing my son immediately after he chipped a front tooth. The fix is just perfect - totally indistinguishable from the original tooth. Thanks Dr. Scoma!
