This hospital is horrible!! We went to the ER after paramedics checked my husband. The ER staff was awesome I will, say and took good care of my husband running all the test necessary to find out what was wrong with him. But after being admitted to the hospital for observation that night his care fell to ZERO. The first time he went to use the bathroom in the room, which he was the only patient in, he stepped in PEE on the floor of the bathroom. Is had to come from a former patient that was no longer in the room, and obviously the bathroom was never cleaned. This is inexcusable sanitary practices. Who knows what disease that patient might have had that my husband had now come in contact with. Then the next day when I called to find out the status of my husband and what the doctor had said when he checked him, I was given the diagnosis for not one but two different patients! Only upon questioning each diagnosis did the nurse realize she had given me someone elses diagnosis. Then the nurse told me that the doctor that had seen him was referring him to an infectious disease doctor who would see him tomorrow and run more tests. What!? They were observing him because he had a bad case of the flu! When I went up to the hospital, my husband told me the Doctor had never been in to see him. So this doctor just decided to refer my husband to an infectious disease doctor without even examining him, or having any reason to!? My husband was also no longer getting any IV fluids as he had in the ER the night before due to extreme dehydration. He was in the room basically by himself with little monitoring at all. When I asked the nurse what was going on and why I could not get a straight answer as to my husbands condition she could not answer me. I told her I felt I should check him out for his own safety. The head nurse stepped in and told me that would be fine that the paperwork was easily prepared and they would bring it in to me. She was very rude and acted like she could care less. Another nurse came in to have my husband sign the paperwork and said to me "Please have the Doctor, Dr. Seghal, written up. We dont even know why he works here. Most of his patients just leave". For that brave nurse to be honest with us says a lot about his integrity. I realize that the nurses hands were tied as far as being able to care for my husband without Doctors orders to go by. A Doctor who cared less about my husband and never even bothered to see him that day. We will never step foot in La Palma hospital again. Thank God my husbands condition wasnt more serious as that lack of care could, have had dire consequences for him. We followed up with my husbands Doctor who said that an infectious disease doctor should never have been called in at all. This Doctor was merely passing off his patient, my husband, so he would not have to bother with him. This is very sad as I think,of how many other patients are victims of this so called Doctor. While our primary Doctor works out of Long Beach Memorial Hospital, La Palma Hospital is close and we thought we would have good care there. Someone needs to do something about this Doctor Seghal, as well as the unsanitary conditions in the patient rooms. And some retraining for the nurses would be in order so they can keep their patients straight.

This place will do in a pinch, but if you can avoid it, please go to another hospital. I have been seen here for numerous emergency situations and admitted more times than I would like to remember. Im a dialysis patient and my dialysis clinic is located in the building across the parking lot from La Palma Intercommunity Hospital. In the event of an emergency, the paramedics will rush me here so the ER staff can stabilize me and determine whether I need further care. The treatment Ive received has been hit or miss. I can never really tell what its going to be like from visit to visit. Ive been with extremely high blood pressure (200/100 +) and the attending physician took her sweet time getting around to treating me. I could have had a stroke, but she didnt seem concerned. My brother was there with me and overheard that same doctor making fun of a man visiting the patient across from me. Apparently, she found it amusing that this person, who spoke English as a second language, was trying to communicate that he was worried that his relative might have suffered a brain injury. Maybe there was nothing to be concerned about, but I dont think its right to be mocking anyone for trying to ensure the safety of someone they love. In fact, that same doctor kicked my brother out when he tried to motivate her to take my case more seriously. I will admit my brother wasnt very polite, but given the circumstances, I think most people would have lost their cool. After having my brother removed she finally ordered the meds I needed to get my BP under control. I dont even want to imagine what could have happened had my brother not stepped in to bring my case to the doctors attention (and I thank God for giving me a brother who has been there to advocate for me during my times of need). The horror stories continue when Ive been admitted to the hospital as well. Typically sheets and gowns are to be changed everyday, but I recall when my linens and gown werent changed for three days. Furthermore, there was instance when I requested a breathing treatments because Im asthmatic and I was feeling short of breath. I recall contacting the receptionist at the nurses station and bring told that they would send a respiratory therapist. When the RP didnt show up I tried calling the nurses station again. Long story short the respiratory therapist never came. I have had some great nurses and doctors here as well (and this review is by no means a reflection them), but those few people and experiences havent been the norm. I try avoid this hospital if I can. I will even cut my dialysis treatments short to drive myself home or straight to another hospital. Im sure this place isnt all bad and no hospital is perfect. However, because I have regularly experienced poor treatment here, I would highly suggest you go to another hospital if you can.

I would give this hospital a negative rating if I could. WORST HOSPITAL IVE EVER BEEN TO. DO NOT GO HERE. THEY WILL CHEAT YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY. The ER staff, including my doctor and my nurse, were very kind and although the wait was very long (but I understood since there were people there who needed more attention and care than I did), they took good care of me. But the lady at the front desk was extremely rude. At first, she was nice. When checking in to the ER, she never even asked for my insurance information. Once inside, I asked her if she needed it since she never asked for it. She was hesitant at first and came back with a sketch pad and a pen and told me to write down everything that I think she might need. She then returned minutes later saying that she called my moms insurance company and said they had no record of her (which is total BS because I had my moms insurance card with me, which by the way she never asked to see or make copies of). So, my sister called my moms insurance company and said that they never even received a call from this hospital asking for my moms insurance information. My sister confronted the woman at the front desk and told her to call again. This was when the woman began to become extremely rude and she and my sister were arguing about bill handling the remainder of the time I was there. This was in October 2016. I received two bills a couple of weeks later. My insurance paid for them in November 2016. And I AM STILL receiving bills from them in April 2017. I just received a call today saying that I need to go to corrections to pay my debt because they said they never received the payment in November, but my insurance said that they paid them in November. I now have to dispute the debt and get this figured out months after I thought this was all over. DO. NOT. GO. HERE.
