The nurses are sweet, but there is nothing very uplifting about this place. I have been dealing with convalescent homes for many years, there is no charisma at ths place... its very very monotone. The pictures that are shown here are nothing I ever see at this place. The facility comes off as very cold and uninviting. The room I go to have 4 beds, not 2 as shown.... and there is no where to comfortably visit those you love so much... I usually have to stand and then I am in the way. There is no community service students coming through, and the students can actually brighten an older persons day. I never see any social activities which is something that is important to me, it stimulates the brain of the older people. The meals leave a lot to be desired. One thing I do when looking at a convalescent home is to have a meal to see how the kitchen cooks. On the positive side, this facility is clean and neat. The staff is quiet. The location is nice, across from a park and there is greenery around. Its located in a nice neighborhood of small single family homes. I am giving it 3 stars because it is not extrodinary. It maybe should get 2, but I am giving benefit of the doubt here.

After the doctor gave my dying aunt 24-48 hours to live, Santa Anita Convalescent Hospital made my familys worst nightmare an even worse hell. My aunt was put on oxygen and my family requested a private room so she could be comfortable in the final days of her battle with cancer. The hospital staff was extraordinarily unhelpful, refused to help my family, said they had to get a ton of approvals and that theyd made calls, but then my family would never hear back. They tried to call managers and other administrators in the hospital and got sent to voicemail. It is absolutely no fault of the other patient in my aunts room that they need to be there, but it is worth noting that the patients family made loud, seemingly racist comments to my family (we are Chinese and my mother and aunts/uncles speak with a slight accent), and the hospital staff did nothing. My aunt will most likely be gone in a few days. At this point, we are making our peace with it. It is an absolute shame that our final memories will be how terrible this hospital has made an already terrible moment in time. Stay away from this hospital.

Had a friend in here for many months. Nurses were good and attentive. Not too many activities to do except ask to be strolled outside to see Live Oak Park across the streets. Cost was average what youd expect.

This rating is for the meals provided for the patients in this nursing facility. Mostly they are canned food.
