I brought my two year old Maltese, Bentley, here to have anal gland surgery. I arrived at 7:30 a.m. and the Dr. who was scheduled to perform the surgery was not there. I was told that another Dr. would do the work (wont mention names). I was uneasy about the switch, but decided that we were there and he was in dire need of having this procedure done. I called to see how he was at 1:00 p.m. and was told everything went well and he was recovering. I came to pick him up at 4:30 p.m. and was asked to pay and was given his meds. I asked to speak to the Dr. as I had some questions about the condition of the anal glands. It was only then that I was informed by him that there had been an "accident" and that during the procedure his scalpel slipped and that he had perforated Bens rectum wall. To "repair" (stitch) the rectum he had to cut the muscle to relax the rectum. The Dr. warned us about possible incontinence, blah, blah, blah. I couldnt hear anything after that. Needless to say, I was devastated. Not only did Ben have two anal glands surgically removed, he now had a perforated rectum and the rectum muscle all cut up. We took Bentley home and watched the agony over the course of the next two days. Sunday morning at 3:00 a.m. we took him to Loomis Hospital and had him put down. When I wrote the owner/doctor of Critter Creek (wont mention name), he took NO, I reiterate NO, responsibility for a total lack of medical veterinary competence and basic animal care! Beside losing my sweet companion and best friend, I was never offered recompensation even for the botched up surgery!!! I have never shared this account with anyone. It was always too painful to address it, even now. Check Yelp!

(I wrote the following review shortly after moving to this area; since then I have adopted a kitten and recently took her and my now almost 11 y/o "Nettie Rose" to Critter Creek Vet.) An obese middle aged indoor cat with an unknown skin problem and her new to the area devoted human escort,( that would be me ) first went to Critter Creek Veterinary Hospital because it was conveniently located in the shopping center where I banked. That was over a year ago. I continue to trust the care of my 9 y/o "Nettie Rose" to the staff at CCVH because they have earned that trust. They and Dr Morrow are courteous, competent, caring and "critter knowledgeable" I am grateful that I found them! My 2 feline companions were examined thoroughly yesterday at CCVH and I feel even more confident in the quality of care they receive.

My cat has been a patient at Critter for almost eight years, and has been treated successfully for a serious male urinary problem with Dr. Morrows recommended care, and treated for other minor problems with perfect outcome. I keep going back. He has treated cats, and other animals, for over thirty years and is a specialist in these dog and cat, and rabbit, illnesses. I trust him with proven confidence. His staff is courteous and friendly, and in the good humor that reassures the pet owner that treatment will be given lovingly and effectively. It is. Critters new office has easy access and is spacious, with the same medical expertise you wanted and expected continuing for your pet in his troubled time. Take him there. Hell be grateful and lick you. Or just stare at you with love.

I have more examples then I can even fit in this space of being treat disrespectfully, wasting our time, and being overcharged. Here is the one I will give you as its plenty! Our boxer began having seizures and we took him into see the Vet. We were given Phenobarbital and told to come back in 2 weeks for blood work. Upon retuning we were told we couldnt do blood work because we havent been giving the pills on 12 hour schedule. We were never told nor did they write on the label the pills were to be given every 12 hours. He has had 2 breakthrough seizures while on this medication. They presume it was due to this scheduling. They are careless and dismissive. We will be driving to Roseville from now on!

We had a very bad experience at Banfield, where they tried to sell us the moon for our chihuahua. They had him scheduled for a very expensive dew claw removal, when we changed our mind and went to Critter Creek. They trimmed the dew claw, wrapped it up and sent us home for a fraction of the cost Banfield wanted. Our Yorkie Poo had to have a tooth extracted a couple of weeks ago. They took good care of her, the cost was almost exactly what theyd promised it would be (no surprises) and they even listed "complimentary hugs and kisses" on the bill. Awwww! Everyone is very nice. Love how they all bring their animals to work with them. Friendly place and they dont try to sell you the moon.

Please be forwarned we took our 3 month old puppy in for a condition known as "Cherry Eye". We asked what could be done, they offered several surgical options and we agreed to that. While there they gave an "unsolicited" estimate for spaying. That was on the same piece of paper, so when we went in the next day for the cherry eye procedure they did both procedures. WE NEVER ASKED FOR OR REQUESTED A SPAYING for our puppy. We feel so violated. Please be specific and make them detail what there agenda is.

Being new in town and having a pet emergency, I unfortunately ended up at Critter Creek. I found the staff very rude, and honestly, the vet was quite strange. Definitely would never go here again. Later, having a chance to ask around the community, I found it surprising that EVERY SINGLE PERSON said basically the same thing....."stay away from Critter Creek". Many people also mentioned that it appears Critter Creek has fake reviews on the web, which is definitely another warning sign.
