I and my family have been to this dentist for the last 3 years. I will say that the staff in the front office are very friendly. We have paid the :upgraded" fees for dental work when we have needed to choose a better option. We have had a change in our family dynamics which has put a financial strain on the budget. My last visit was for a cleaning/exam. At this visit, I was told I needed a crown and deep cleaning. No problem, I just needed to make sure I could budget the procedures in to pay our co-pay. I got a "confirmation" call the day before my scheduled deep cleaning while I was at work (I do not have access to my phone). Didnt return the call, as I was going to be there. When I registered, I was asked if I wanted to pay in advance and was told my co pay was $180. I was then asked about the laser treatments and was I going to do that today. I said "no" (I was originally told that they would evaluate as the cleaning was done whether or not I would need them ). During this time, I pulled out my "written" quote to realize that I had actually been quoted $50 less. I questioned it. I was pulled into one of the rooms and told by the hygienist that they had missed my deductible originally. I asked why did they not inform me of this when they called to confirm (or even at the desk BEFORE asking for payment) and I was told that if I had called back to confirm, they would have told me. Hmmmm, not a good answer. Then I was told that HIPA laws prevented them from doing that (Another NOT SO GOOD answer). While I am more than willing to pay what I am supposed to, I find it appalling that the reasoning for not informing me of the difference which would be due was because "I did not call to confirm my appointment". If the hygienist had said anything remotely close to "Im sorry, we missed your deductible when putting together your quote and realized it yesterday when we did your paperwork" (she said that was what had happened) I would have probably just gotten it taken care of. Instead, she kept pushing me to get it done right then and there with no concern for the issue at hand. If a dentists office cannot take responsibility for financial mistakes, Im sure they would not take responsibility for a mistake in my mouth. I have switched dentists.

This "bad review" is not old, but is an accurate representation of what my wife and I experienced during our visits. "A dissatisfied customer will tell between 9-15 people about their experience. Around 13% of dissatisfied customers tell more than 20 people. - White House Office of Consumer Affairs." First visit: During our initial exams everything seemed fine. We had our x-rays and our quick examinations. I had a cleaning done since my teeth were healthy. My wife on the other hand could not get a cleaning because they needed to do a deep cleaning scheduled for next time. They also informed me that I needed to get my wisdom teeth extracted. We schedule a time to come back to see the specialist and were given estimates. Her periodontal cleaning is estimated to cost us $400 after insurance and my wisdom teeth are estimated to cost around $500. Second visit (my wifes deep cleaning): She is checked in an everything is fine. When she comes out, they inform us that they did four extra laser treatments and our bill is $900. They then show us that my wife had signed off on the treatments. Youd figure that a double in the cost would need a little more disclosure and notification. Nope. According to my wife, they informed her that the treatment was going to be an extra $100. She did not know however that there would be 4 separate charges and treatments. We as customers would have appreciated a little more notification instead of a "here sign this paper" and a major surprise in the end. My wife also informed me that the specialist barely spoke English. There was also no new cost break down on that paper she signed. As nice as the staff was in this office, I had no idea wed become victims of a borderline bait and switch. Ive just canceled our next collective four procedures because I am afraid this will happen again. I also had no idea that wed be seen as just another number and another means of a paycheck and keeping the doors open. This place is the dentist version of the classic $20 oil change mechanic where they get you in the doors and recommend many expensive other repairs. If you are a new patient shopping for a new dental office, you have been warned. I wish I read all the "not recommended reviews" on Yelp!

It took me awhile after a few months to realize that the billing department lady who presents to you your options is reluctant to discuss any other option of treatment other than the most expensive treatment IMO. The treatment I suggested that they did not offer was worthy, and reasonable to discuss.. the cheaper teeth extraction of only a few teeth left, and go with full dentures vs the very expensive bridge, and partial denture, but the lady did not want to even discuss it, and tried to divert me away from the cheaper option, and even tried a scare tactic by mentioning being "put to sleep" for the cheaper option..she reverted back to the expensive treatment, and would not budge as I struggled to discuss it with her. IMO it is all about making $ opposed to a financial option in conjunction with adequate treatment for the patient tailored to the patient $ needs. She also showed lightly that she was annoyed, and irritated with me in her tone of voice CUSTOMER SERVICE 101 DO NOT SHOW THAT..I hope she realizes the errors of her ways, and becomes more professional, and more patient supportive.

Went as a first time patient to get a cleaning and did not even get one because I was advised that I urgently needed inlays. Asked to get a pre-authorization since I wasnt experiencing any pain or discomfort and was advised that I didnt need one. $700 and 6 months later I get a bill that has a 91 days and over past due balance and new charges. Call and was advised that the past due balance is just a scare tactic to get payment. WOW! According to the office, I dont have a past due balance, just new charges because they thought the insurance would pay more. That is what a PRE_AUTHORIZATION is for, morons! I will NEVER go back to this office and will advise anyone looking that they should not go to this office.

I am extremely happy with my Dental Care at Pavillions. I recently needed a crown. I was nervous and had questions before I was ready to put on the permanent crown. Dr. Vicuna answered ALL my questions and addressed my concerns. The day after the crown went on I had absolutely no pain or soreness. It looks and feels great. A+ and thank you. :) My biggest happiness is with Priti Patel, the best dental hygienist I ever had. She gave me laser therapy a few years ago. I have had great success reducing the pockets and gum disease to the point where my mouth is finally in pretty good shape thanks to her effort and education. I am sure I would have lost all my teeth by now without her help!!
