I never do reviews but I want to share my experience as a happy, long time client of 5+ years with ProActive Chiropractic. I am so happy I found Dr. Cohen at ProActive Chiropractic. Half way through my appointment with him, I realized that my initial introduction to chiropractic work was inadequate to say the least. I tried 3 different chiropractors before a friend recommended me to Dr. Cohen and Im happy I decided to follow up on their referral. Until then, I just kept leaving my chiropractic appointments feeling both cheated and unsure what chiropractors actually did. I left my first appointment with Dr. Cohen intrigued by his holistic approach. He didnt just crack my neck and back. Dr. Cohen uses a neurophysiological approach due to his understanding that the human body and psyche are integrated and intricate systems. He even does tests and adjustments in order to address my bodys emotional responses to stresses that can be triggered from relationships, work, love, and so forth. I remember one time I went for a visit and Dr. Cohen just couldnt believe how weak and unresponsive my body was being. It was a lot more off then usual he had mentioned. I was a bit concerned being that I came for some routine maintenance on my shoulder and now it seemed that there was more problems to be addressed. It was about mid-afternoon. After about a minute of trying a few different things Dr. Cohen asked me if I had drank much water that day. I admitted that I hadnt since I had not since I awoke an left the house for work. He brought me a cup of water for me to drink. Almost immediately after my body was back to its normal and he commenced to addressing the shoulder problem I had come in for, which he helped get back to 100%. I left and purchased a water bottle to carry around with me after that. That one instance help me understand through firsthand experience that water does far more than quench my thirst and has a direct affect on my physical and mental performance. I could share so much more but that was a simple lesson that I have carried with me ever since thanks to Dr. Cohen. I have learned something new about the human body every time I visit as Dr. Cohen is more than willing to share his knowledge and explain the process as we go through it. He even showed me some simple tricks to use on my gymnastics and capoeira students when I need them to engage/ wake up various parts of their body for different skills and activities (NOT ANYTHING THAT ONLY A LICENSED PHYSICIAN SHOULD BE PRACTICING). Dr. Cohen is popular amongst my circle of my closest friends for a reason. He truly knows what he is doing, he is genuine and does not waste your time or money, and he is easygoing, which allows for great interaction, jokes, and conversation all while getting the job done. He is the one I go to whenever there is something serious to deal with being that a strong and healthy body is key for my work. Do not hesitate to set an appointment for a visit if you are in need of a good chiropractor. I strongly and sincerely recommend ProActive Chiropractic.

I went to Dr. Cohen to help me with some old injuries. Those injuries are sciatica & a torn rotator cuff.I wanted help to get my fast ball back from my torn rotator cuff. Not that I am a professional baseball pitcher but an aging baby boomer who refuses to succumb to an inactive life style because of my injuries .He has done wonders with the injuries. I suffered from a recent torn fascia which he helped diagnose.A podiatrist treated the tear with the usual medicines of cortisone,anti-inflammatory,& rehab.Between the meds & Dr Andres chiropractic adjustments I was initially relieved of a lot of severe pain because of the tear & the secondary pain in my leg associated with it. However, the secondary pain continued & the podiatrist refers me to an orthopedic.Further,Dr Cohen informs me that my hip can deteriorate because of the imbalance caused by the torn fascia. The deterioration can be severe enough where I will need a hip replacement. Dr. Cohen suggests a 21 day cleanse to reduce the inflammation in my body to avoid deterioration & relieve pain in my leg.I was skeptical to his suggestion but what did I have to lose by trying it.To my amazement by day 3 of the cleanse I was feeling less pain & more mobility in my leg. After 21 days on the cleanse the pain is virtually non existent & regained use of my leg again short of kicking tires on cars at the auto dealer. With the various injuries Dr. Andrew has successfully treated me for a cleanse was the last unexpected remedy I thought I will benefit from.Today I continue with the diet from the cleanse because I rather be healthy & virtually painless than unhealthy & in pain. The diet from the cleanse provided me with an unexpected benefit which is I have not felt the need to take medicine for my acid reflux which caused me to have Barretts esophagus disorder.Though discontinuing the medicine on my own needs to be discussed with my general practitioner first. I never thought I can benefit so much from a cleanse let alone the suggestion for it come from a chiropractor.

Ok, found my original review, well sort of anyway. I have a series of injuries that are related to a thirty year old major auto accident. Much of the damage was quite serious and made much of my left side either non functional, or at best, problematic. Nothing can replace lost muscle tissue or a badly damaged knee, you learn to carry on the best you can. You compensate for what you no longer can use, and life goes on. Much of this compensation reflex was very painful, but..........On my wifes suggestion I went to see Dr. Cohen and was very surprised with the results. The amount of pain that he was able to help or even remove was far more effective than I would have ever guessed. After all, other people had tried this before with little or no impact. A small bit of background on the accident. I was "T boned" by a woman in a FULL sized 1967 Buick at over 50mph. I was driving a Porsche. There was tremendous compression which threw me up against the backwindow of the car, ( yes, still belted into the seat). No airbags in those days. Thanks mostly to the design of the Porsche, I lived. Since then I have had a great deal of lower back pain , which I always accepted as the price for coming out alive. Both Dr. Cohen and I were skeptical but he wanted to give it a try. I have been very surprised. Honestly. Maybe 80 to 85% of the back pain is gone. And there is a good reason. Much of the pain was being caused by muscles trying to compensate for muscles that were gone or no longer worked. No one can replace muscles that are no longer there. Neither can Dr. Cohen. However, we discovered that much of the compensation activity was substituting for muscles that did still exist, however, were not functioning. I cannot give you the Biological explanations, but in Laymans English, he was able to reset some of the mucle/reflex triggers that were not functioning, and had not been for 30 years. This has been impressive improvement. Good man, good job!...............Jackson

As a weekend triathlete with an office job and two little kids, Ive had my share of chiropractic visits to keep me flexible, aligned, agile and pain free. Occasionally my back locks up and requires heavy duty work...and thats how I met Dr. C. My upper back seized and my usual chiro wasnt around. I could barely move and getting progressively worse throughout the day. Yelp - help! Dr C was the highest rated chiro in the financial district and able to squeeze me in on short notice. So I hobbled over as quickly as I could. I noticed the difference in his approach within minutes of sitting down. Instead of the usual "lay down on your stomach so I can adjust your back" routine, Dr. C had me answering questions about my level of activity, past and current issues / performing a variety of strength & resistance tests along with other interesting assessments that Ive never seen in 10+years of being a regular patient of other chiros. After a thorough assessment and few adjustments, he prescribed a few exercises and scheduled two follow up visits. To make the long story short, after three visits, prescribed stretches and being mindful of my posture per his observations Ive been pain/symptom/issue free for ~6 months without having to go back and feeling great. My level of activity has been ramping up in preparation for the race season and while I prefer to stay out of the good doctors office, I have no reservations going back to Dr. C when needed. Dr. C half jokingly said that his job is to keep us out of his office doing things that we enjoy. I couldnt appreciate his comment more. Having a great therapist makes an enormous difference in how well we feel and the length of time we can stay healthy. Five stars!!!
