Let me start by saying that I, my husband and my daughter have been with Seal Beach Family Medical for 13 years. My daughter even drives all the way from the valley because she likes her doctor so much. Physician care is excellent, but all of the support services, referrals etc. have really gone downhill since they affiliated with OptumCare. For example, I was in excruciating pain, referred to an Optum affiliate for an ultrasound and the ultrasound provider would not give me an appointment for 10 days. When I called the referral department to see if there was an alternative, I got voicemail, left a message that was never returned. I was not notified of the results of the ultrasound once I finally got it. Instead I got a computer generated message that a referral had been approved for a provider whose name I could not understand the computer generated speech was so bad, and a phone number. I called the phone number and got voicemail again - nobody to talk to and find out why I have been referred to a specialist, what was the problem, nothing. This would NEVER have happened before Optum. As another example, Seal Beach Family Medical used to use Memorial Labs for tests. There was never a problem. Now they use LabCorp and They are often extremely slow at reporting lab results to my primary and repeatedly neglect to sent the results to my husbands cardiologist despite repeated requests to do so. If I did not like my primary physician so much, I would leave this practice and find one that cared more about the quality of patient care.

A Private User

After several sleepless cough crazy nights I wondered into this place on Sunday morning. The staff was excellent and only waited about 10 minutes which is a miracle for any doctors office. Dr. Kimball had a great bedside manner and was a very good listener. I am finally on my way to being healthy again!

I was afraid to go to a new Family Doctor after Dr. John Turner retired. I was referred to Dr. Agatep by another Doctor. He really cared and took his time with me. He gave me excellent advice. He is young, knowledgeable,energetic ,competent and very nice! I couldnt be happier.
