THIS DR HAS NO TACT, so when you dispute the other reviews as not knowing, I KNOW. The Dr came in and spoke with my father just a few min prior to me walking in. When the DR walked in after I had arrived, I asked him what my fathers plan of action was for his Cirrhosis, he said look I dont have time. Ive already explained it to your father. I said I asked him and he said hes having a hard time remembering what you said. Dr. Mecum said, lets not kid ourselves this is bad. and thats it. This guy is certifiably ridiculous. I wish there is an option for ZERO stars. I hope someone has more compassion on your family member then you did on mine.

Lowly star reviews compelled me to meet Dr. Mecum---as only the brightest, toughest MDs become surgeons. Hi Rocio and his beautiful office ladies who were most caring and considerate. Specialists and surgeons have certain reputations some say nasty/nice. Dr. Mecum was professional, kind and humorous. On the last visit, Dr. shared a joke and had us laughing before we left. Feeling uneasy because of low/star no star reviews---do research on your own as those with kidney failure suffer from decreased mental acuity. Phenomenal care, thanks Dr. Mecum (he is definitely a surgeon) .

Ive been Dr. Mecums patient for nearly 10 years. I like Dr. Mecum but his staff makes me never want to return to his office again. They are horrible or he has the worst fax machine ever. Every time I need a refill on my Rx or information needs to be given to my insurance company, the staff either doesnt receive the fax or they say its completed and sent yet the receiver doesnt get whats been sent. If I get upset with his staff, all of a sudden, the fax machine works wonderfully.

I went in with my grandmother because she had a nagging stomach pain and he insisted it was her diet. I pleaded him to take a cat-scan and his ego got in the way. After arguing he wouldnt even look at me and reluctantly scheduled one. Diagnosis was pancreatic cancer.The question is how many people has he killed with this negligence and what can I do about it?

These other reviewers have no idea what theyre talking about, Ive been to several stomach doctors and Dr. Mecum was the first doctor that listened and really showed concern. He is a great doctor who really cares about his patients quality of life and health. I could not say enough great things about him. Ill be going to him from now on!

Dr. Mecums philosphy is not patient care first. He seems to be building an empire instead of helping patients.His knowledge about my desease was very limited and he kept defending his awful office manager. No Ethics and no compassion.

This physician is flawless and PIH Whittier is a wonderful organization. My Mom saw him when she was in not the best of moods, he was kind to her. Going in with her put her at ease and its the least I can do. Thank you Doctor.

Had a bad experience with a humiliating recommendation for travel, that made me cry, left the office. not an insightful guy at all. Now seeing Dr. Bali in Anaheim, nice lady.
