Ive only taken My dog in to this facility twice but the second time was for a major operation and while myself and my family really like the first Doctor I saw, the second vet I had to see has been frustrating to deal with. This location houses multiple vets. I imagine your experience will be based on who you see. We love Dr La Bonde, but when I had to book with Dr Fishman due to LaBonde being over booked Ive found that communication is next to nonexistent. My Dog had a 3000$ dollar surgery and I was told the re-checks were included in the surgery and I would not be paying for stitches to be removed, or any further radiographs. I asked this before I booked with them because there are many facilities quoting the same price and they all boast that the follow up visits are included. Enter the circus of my first re-check. I called after reading our take home instructions for the 100th time because they stated that if the dog if not walking on the limb in 5-7 days that I should call. Well when I called I was told that call meant make and appointment and bring your dog in. So I made an appointment that afternoon and because I was at work I asked my spouse to bring our pup in. Everything seemed fine until my spouse called me to tell me that no one seemed to know why he was there and they had told him to go home and come back later. He did not.. but they also told him that there was no reason to bring our dog in yet.. stitches should be removed at 8-10 days according to our paperwork... in that case we would have been coming in in the next 2 days anyway. I ended up leaving work to meet them and after my spouse had been waiting for over an hour, the vet finally came into the lobby to talk to us. She showed me some exercised to do with the dog but it seemed like this was something i should have already been doing despite the take home papers not indicating it and never being told about it before. When I asked her If i should have already been doing this she told her she didnt know...which is pretty disconcerting. She follow this up with the fact that she was unclear on the surgeons discharge instructions. I got the impression she really didnt feel like any of this was her responsibility. In any case, we were never taken back to a room, but I did ask that sense we were there that they remove the stitches sense it is a pretty long drive for us to come in. The vet agreed and took out the stitches. Great! at least this was not a totally wasted trip. Than I was told to check out... ok good. except after waiting about 5 minutes I was told to pay for the visit. I indicated that it was my understanding that the re-checks were no-charge, and included with the surgery. The staff consulted briefly with each other and than agreed that that seemed correct. I was told it was fine to go ahead and leave without paying. So twice Ive been told now, before and after the surgery, that re-checks should be included. Ok so end of story right? Unfortunately not. I share an account with my mother at this facility so when she came over the other day and apologized for opening a statement that was addressed to her but meant for me I was pretty surprised. This was a bill for the re-check that I have twice been told was included! Im beyond frustrated with my experience. My dog was clipper burned after careful instruction to please not clipper burn her and they shaved far more than was necessary( i know because my fathers dog had the same surgery last year) . I feel like Im pretty generous with things like this, as I was a groomer for 5 years and understand that some dogs have sensitive skin (this was the explanation I was given when I asked about the remaining skin irritation a week later) but in this case Im fed up. The surgeon was great! he spoke to me before and after the surgery but I will never be going back here. I will go do my follow up appoints at a new vet sense it seems like I will be having to pay for them regardless. -Broke and frustrated pet lover

Dr Labonde is the best vet hands down in the world and I truly believe that. He sees my 2 parrots Cricket and Evie, my hedgehog Lylah, my 15 year old bichon TB trash bear I mean Teddy bear, and my 7 year old mutt Loki. When I rescued my hedgehog olive she was very ill and I spent over $2,500 at another vet and saw 2 more vets even going all the way to csu before I found Dr Labonde. He improved her quality of life so much and was a god send for her and I, she was happy for 2 more years until then one day Olive just declined badly and I brought her in to him. It was one of the hardest days of my life as we had to let Olive go, Dr L was so gentle and truly amazing with my sweet angel, Ive never seen a vet who truly cares so much about each and every animal he sees. I work in the animal field as well and Ive seen so many vets lose their passion and its just another patient to them, its a job to them...but not Dr. LaBonde, he is the most caring and thorough veterinarians I have ever met. It doesnt matter if its a small hedgehog or a 60 lb 7 year old pit mix like my Loki who I have to carry in because he doesnt want to walk hes so scared of EVERYTHING, or my 15 year old blind bichon who for the first time in 15 years likes a vet and doesnt mind going in! He had an on going ear and skin issue and Dr. LaBonde has gone above and beyond for all my animals. I couldnt of asked for a better vet and I am so thankful that my babies have him in their lives and my own, because I know I can trust him, hes always going to do everything he can for my animals and then some but most all he takes the few extra minutes it takes and is sweet and gentle so all my animals feel safe and are happy. Which makes me happy ☺

I took my Nanday Conure for a wellness check with Dr LaBonde after he was recommended to me. My parrot has been with me for 30 years and is an important member of my family, so Im very particular about how he is treated. Unfortunately traffic delays caused me to be 20 minutes late to our appointment but Dr LaBonde and the staff at Homestead were very gracious and worked us in anyway. Dr LaBonde and the vet tech who assisted us were both kind, knowledgeable, efficient, and treated me and my friend with the utmost in care. I cant say enough good about our experience. Many thanks to Dr LaBonde and Homestead Animal Hospital. I would recommend them to anyone needing veterinary services hands down!

Above and beyond quality service. Dr LaBonde has been our trusted fur-family doctor for 3 ferrets for 5+ years. Highly experienced with exotic pets. Homestead has been recognized by Wild Bird Rescue. Homestead Animal Hospital has been accommodating, communicative, and extremely generous and fair for services remuneration. Dr LaBondes educational and gentle assistance helped me when considering treatment options and was especially remarkable and sensitive during euthanasia which is a very compassionate and unrushed process. 8 years is generous for a ferret lifespan. I have peace knowing Ferret received the best of care to ensure quality of life *and* best of care for his transition over.
