Last week I had my elderly Maltese in for a dental cleaning. This procedure was preceded by an exam which included an exam and blood work costing over $350. A bit pricey but the care there is good. We were then scheduled for the cleaning under anesthesia and prior to that received a pre-authorization with pricing including tests such as an echocardiogram. The entire package came up to over $1000 which I thought was absurd for just a cleaning. Being a physician I refused some of the testing and brought the price "down" to about $850. I was called during the procedure, and with my dog under anesthesia, and was informed that AFTER her teeth were cleaned, X-Rays were done showing she had 8 rotten and abscessed teeth which should be removed for an additional $600! I could go there and review the films with the vet (not her regular one I might add) or they could wake her up and leave the bad teeth in place! I told them that I thought it was bizarre to clean teeth first and do X-Rays after (why remove clean teeth?? A dentist does teeth cleaning at the end , not the beginning !!). As they had me under the pressure of an elderly dog already under anesthesia, I felt forced to let them proceed. Thank God my dog survived the experience. My conclusions: VCA represents corporate veterinary medicine at its worst. I did not get the vet of my choice even though I requested her. They will order and try to talk you into unnecessary and expensive testing. Finally, the pricing is really high. I checked after the fact and vets in private practice told me they charge at least twice the going rate. UPDATE 3/22/17: I just took my little one into a neighborhood vet (Greenwood Village Veterinary Clinic) for a GI issue. What a difference from VCA!! What we got was a thorough exam, a commonsense approach to the problem, no unnecessary and expensive testing, some good suggestions, basic testing, medication, and all that for under $100. Sorry we had not been going here for the past 4 years.

This place is terrible! My wife called emergency services to see if they will take my 11mo. Old pomchi who broke her two front legs. The insensitive guy who she spoke with said not only is it $3000 down and starting, but that it would be cheaper to PUT HER DOWN and they didnt even know what was going on with her! Anyone who has a pet knows that they are their child and a part of their family. My little dog is not a horse, and I cant believe a vet said that to her. If you want to go to a great vet go to Red Rock Animal Center where Doctor G. Cares about the animals and doesnt charge outrageous prices. We took her in there and he told us he was going to try and keep her surgery under $1000. This place is a joke and obviously they only care about their money and not the animals.

We left without being seen. I make a 2pm appointment so my husband can take time off from work to make it to help with the new puppy and our 2 year old son to be shrugged off and told "they will be with you any minute" three times. After waiting 5 minutes to be checked in ( no one else in the office at the time) and then to be hardly acknowledged and passed up by 4 other people who came in after us; we left after 45 minutes. The few we did see in the front office have the "I dont care" approach towards life. I dont recommend this office. I had to give one star to wright the review and it who have to go to the office manager who tried to give us some attention.

Poor service. I have been taking my pets to this vet for twenty years and the service has declined significantly. I have made appointments to get my dogs shots up to date and they wont answer any questions. They tell me to make an appointment. Okay fare. Then my dog gets really sick and needs to be hospitalized. They tell me they cant help me and they dont offer any solutions. I then went in to get her food and they pushed me aside and i waited twenty minuets and the lady at the front desk was so rude. again wont answer any questions. Tells me to ask my vet. I thought "you are my vet"

Just adopted a ten year old dog, and took him into VCA Orchard Animal Hospital for the free physical the Dumb Friends League provided with the adoption. I was so impressed! The staff was very friendly, and knowledgeable - they gave me realistic advice about my new senior pup, and fell in love with him the same as we did. Im extremely impressed by their care, professionalism, and understanding.

Was able to get my cat in to see the vet the day I called and asked to make an appointment. Certainly wasnt an inexpensive visit as we looked into treatment options for his severe dandruff. While we werent able to cure his issue, we were able to alleviate his discomfort, which is better than nothing.

So far me and my pets have been treated very well. They are accommodating and understanding, if not a little pricey.
