I am very disappointed in the unprofessional behavior of one of the veterinarians and the receptionist at Mt. Carmel. I have brought my dog here for quite a few years and had always thought that the care was good. However, I am now raising a puppy for a service dog school (the puppy will become a guide dog) and one of the veterinarians accused the school of providing substandard care for their dogs (nothing could be further from the truth, these dogs are revered and given the highest quality care). If I were a lawyer I would wonder if the comments rose to the level of slander. In addition to a disagreement with the approach to care, the veterinarian became agitated when she didnt get her way, in a manner that was very surprising to me. I thought I would continue to use Mt. Carmel but not see that one unstable veterinarian but when I tried to make another appointment the receptionist picked right up with the slanderous comments about the guide school. When I decided I needed to find a new vet the receptionist called and left a passive aggressive voicemail indicating that the vets at the new practice would be too busy to question the care of the guide school (subtext - they wont be as good as we are because theyre too busy). There are many choices for veterinary care in Hamden. Keep looking. *I am not reviewing Dr. Farrell - this experience was a different vet at Mt. Carmel - the review is for the practice.

I had the pleasure of bringing my pet to Dr. Stewart. My dog was having some worrisome resource guarding issues. Being a first time pet owner, I was incredibly distraught and nervous. Dr. Stewart was tremendously reassuring. She was incredibly nonjudgmental, comforting, and detailed when it came to recommending next steps to overcome the issue with my dog. She is so passionate about what she does, and I highly recommend you bring your animal to her - especially if you are a first time pet owner like me! She answers any questions you may have - no question is "too silly", and her opinion is well informed and valuable. I will be bringing all of my pets to her in years to come!

I have been going to Mt. Carmel Veterinary Hospital in Hamden for many years as have all my family members. All the Doctors and staff have been wonderful to us over the years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Kristi Lee Stewart for her Herculean efforts to keep our beautiful almost 17 year old Isabella healthy for many years now. Today,after many "rallies" Isabella lost her battle with HBP, heart issues, kidney disease and other issues. Dr. Stewart was patient, compassionate and driven to find a way to balance meds to keep her comfortable and live a normal life. Thank you again. The Tomei/Martone family

Dr Dunn and Dr Stewart are absolutely wonderful. They are the best vets in the Hamden area. We have been using them for just over 2 years and they have always done whats best for my dog. They are compassionate, highly skilled, loving vets. You can tell they love what they do and they will always be honest with you about the health and well being of your pet. They are also very up front about cost. That said, the priority is always the pet. I highly recommend them.

Cannot say enough good things about the staff and ficilitys here. The doctors are compassionate, kind and KNOW THEIR STUFF! Brought my mini Schnouzer NICKI in recently for a problem with itching his ears. Dr Stewart was so gentle with him. She presribed eat drops for his problem and he is his old self again. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who loves their for legged trusted companion.
