When I moved to Riverview last year I made an appointment to see Dr. Scalero as he was accepting new patients. He suggested I get some baseline blood work done as a new patient. So I did and had a follow-up with him. I am overweight and he recommended healthy eating habits etc. but he didnt see any other issues with my blood work. During that visit He ordered up a mamagram even though I am under 40 because of some family history of cancer. Okay done. Then during our conversation after the mamagram which came out fine he said he wanted more blood work done in several weeks but couldnt tell me a real reason why. Just to check back in. Again he said theyre really wasnt anything he saw in my bloodwork originally just recommended that I lose weight. Yes I am aware and am working on that. I ended up scheduling an appointment for the bloodwork (ive always been one to follow "doctors orders") But then cancelling it because I found out my insurance company would not cover it since there wasnt a true reason besides "checking in". I also have a history of depression in my family and went through a traumatic experience in college which led me to start and never be successful in weening off (like I had hoped) an antidepressant medication. I had discussed this with dr scalero during my numerous visits and was under the impression He had sent them to the pharmacy for refill. When I was unable to find my prescription through my mail order or local pharmacy I called his office to inquire and the person I spoke to informed me Dr. Scalero had cancelled that prescription due to my cancellation of that final blood test. I was not informed on the phone that me failing to get another blood test for no reason was going to cancel my ability to get a prescription I need. Luckily I have also seen my OB GYN this year and she happily called in the prescription for me otherwise Im sure I would have had to wait lots of time (to find and see a new doctor) and experience major withdrawal symptoms before being able to get my medication that I have been taking for about 10 years. Withdrawal symptoms from the medication I am taking can be severe and the few times I have experienced them they were pretty severe for me including panic attacks and hallucinations. In my opinion, Dr Scaleros actions were completely inappropriate and unsafe. At the very least he could have informed he wouldnt call in my prescriptions like he originally said he would. It may sound extreme but withdrawal symptoms from antidepressant meds are no joke and can lead to suicide or other very bad consequences. He may have that right as a doctor but I also have the right to fairly review him on here. And if I can save just one person from experiencing what I had to with him I would!

They have never been able to get me in the same day when I was sick. I should have stopped coming here long ago. I came in today (after calling yesterday AM to get an appointment). I am 24 weeks pregnant, told them as much, and coughing up lots of phlegm. I have never been a smoker and I have had pneumonia 3 times (for 4 months, 3 weeks, and 2 weeks) and have had a couple dozen respiratory infections/cases of bronchitis in my life. My point is, if I start coughing up phlegm, there is a good chance its it going to turn into something much, much worse for me which is why I asked to be seen. My body just cant handle post nasal drip. They had me call my OB to find out what meds I could take before my appt. Then when I came in today, the NP (Margaret something) didnt look at me, just asked basic questions about my symptoms and typed away at her computer. She said she would prescribe me Cipro. At that point I told her no, you cant give that to a pregnant person. Finally she looked at me and realizes I am obviously pregnant. She announced she will give me nothing for the illness. First of all, I told them repeatedly I was pregnant, so I am shocked it was not annotated or if it was, that she wouldnt notice it. Either way, I am not impressed. I explained to her that I spoke with Cathy yesterday and she had me do research with my OB first and I have the list of acceptable meds. I offered her the number of my OB so she can verify the meds (she di dnot take it). She ONLY listened to me breathe for 2 deep breaths, did not look in my throat, in my ears, or ask me ANY questions about my medical history. She left for a while and when she came back she reiterates that she is not giving me any prescriptions. I say are you sure? You were about to give me Cipro before you realized I was pregnant. She told me I am fine (mind you, she doesnt know jack about my medical history) and the person I talked to yesterday probably didnt know I was pregnant. Apparently, she wasnt paying attention to the whole part about her office having me call my OB before coming in. Oh and she gave me a crap guilt trip about travelling for work when I have small children.

Made an appointment with Dr. Scolaro for an ongoing issue and explained very clearly that Ive already been seen by the hospital and a cardiologist, but still have no resolution or cause for the pain. Was then called about an hour later to be told that Dr. Scolaro refuses to see me and says I should go to the ER. Once again, I stated that I had already been to the hospital and they were unable to help, but the receptionist said that even though Dr. Scolaro saw those notes, he still wouldnt see me. Its incredible that neither the hospital nor a doctor will help and in the meantime, I have continued pain.

Why is this saying but I only gave him one star I didnt do anything . I didnt even give a review yet. I highly recommend him hes a wonderful doctor and he takes the time to sit with you and explain what is happening, again, I dont know why I gave 1 star as I didnt even start writing yet. I am keeping Dr scolaro as my doctor I went to him and Temple Terrace, and I am going to him in Riverview.

Florida medical service prevail again! Im a new patient and I went to them with my drivers license expecting like every other Dr. them being able to look up my company insurance info that way (Aetna, btw). NOPE! I got railed by the big lady behind the counter and they refused to help me find my info. Long story short, I ended up leaving. Ill have to hope to find better service somewhere else.

Waited for an hour and half only to have Dr Scolaro come into the room and tell me "Oh, youre not Dorothy. I dont know when Ill be able to get with you." No greeting, clearly frustrated, and bad attitude. I was looking for a new primary care physician/family doctor. This place and doctor sure are not it!! Worst dr experience I ever had!!!
