I was referred to Carlos Torrellas MD by my primary doctor. I contacted the office to set an appointment, the receptionist said there was no immediate appointments with Torrellas but the soonest would be in 2 weeks with ARNP James "Jim" Whited, so I set it up with Jim Whited. I went to the appointment and saw there was a lot of people in the waiting room and some were standing outside the office. When I was finally called and met Jim Whited, I found him to be sarcastic and patronizing. He also stated he does not submit paperwork proving I had an appointment with him to cover my FMLA (job protection), he stated only my primary doctor does that. Ive never been in a psychiatric office and just thought that hes that way because they are so overwhelmed by all the clients waiting and maybe they are short staffed. I setup a 2 week follow-up appointment. Unfortunately, I missed the appointment due to issues with my kids so I rescheduled it for Monday June 9th at 1:15pm. They charged me an outrageous amount of $85 for the "missed appointment" fee and $15 for the copay fee, I paid the $100. This time the waiting room was empty. The treatment I received from Jim Whited was unbearable! Again, he was sarcastic and he patronized me. I am an educated, professional woman that needs help from a specialist for anxiety and depression and this is the treatment I get! Every time I tried to explain to him the effects I had on the medications he prescribed, he would interrupt, disagree and belittle me. I told him that I was not satisfied with the way he practices his profession, I cursed and walked out of his office. No person should ever be treated like that when they are looking for help. I am currently looking for another specialist. On another note, due to Jim Whited not wanting to submit paperwork to prove I went to the appointments, I may lose my job.

Positive: When I called for an appointment, I spoke with Amber who was very helpful in getting me an appointment to deal with my problems hastily. Negative: The waiting room was quite dismal. Not welcoming or comfortable in any way. There was a musty odor, soiled chairs, and no attempt to make it aesthetically pleasing in any way. Depressing! Not encouraging to an already depressed person. I thought I would be seeing a doctor, but was met at the door by Clay, who did not offer a handshake, and introduced himself by first name only. I tripped in the doorway and he put his hand on my back to guide me, which I did not like after he didnt offer a handshake. When I left, as he was walking away, he said "nice meeting you"... how about learning some social skills? I was taught to shake a persons hand and say "nice to meet you, john" and make some eye contact. Not as an after thought as you are walking away. I have only been to one appointment, I chose this office because I wanted a second opinion, but now I think my first doc wasnt so bad after all. They called me and asked if I could come in an hour earlier, which I did, but then wasnt seen until my original appointment time. It took me 5 minutes to complete the paperwork. I will NOT be returning to this office. Overall, did not leave a good first impression.

Please dont waste your time here. I was recently referred to this doctors office by my primary care doctor and am extremely unhappy. The ARNP James or Jim Whited was my practitioner and did not make eye contact with me until the end of my appointment. The whole appointment was weird and I only can agree with what the other reviews say as far as the office waiting room being terrible and the demeaning and rude personality of Jim. What really makes me give this place one star is the fact that I have been waiting for a prescription to be sent to the pharmacy for over a week and the office reassured me 6 days ago that "they havent forgotten about me". But after calling the pharmacist, who has been helping me try to get in contact with the office, and then telling me that there wasnt any change... Im just going to get another referral. Just dont waste your time. This place is awful.

This was the absolute worst place I have ever been to. I tried to switch doctors because I thought my last one was bad. Well this one takes the cake and made me regret switching! The waiting room is horrendous. The women at the front desk behind the "window" refuse to open their window to assist you until theyre ready. I seriously stood there for 20 minutes waiting for their lazy butts to open the damn thing. I even called twice to ask if they would open the window, but each time they put me on hold. After that fiasco, when I finally got to see the ARNP, he was downright rude and made me feel like a horrible person. He made me cry (in the not good "therapy" way) and would ask me questions that made me feel like an idiot. I will never ever go back to this place. I left feeling MUCH worse than when I walked in; which is no way to run a psychiatric office.

If I could give them less than 1 star, I would! This place is a joke! IF and thats a big IF...they keep your appointment without canceling you, you get rushed through your appointment and over medicated. My son didnt even get a doctor, he got a nurse practitioner who suddenly left. When the medication was not helping and he called to reschedule the follow up that THEY had cancelled, he was told that he could no longer come back because the nurse was gone and now he would be considered a NEW patient and they werent taking any new patients. Now he is out of meds, not on an even keel, having panic attacks and this is how they treat their patients??? You should be ashamed to call yourselves doctors!!!! I will tell EVERYONE I know not to darken their doorsteps! Unprofessional, uncaring rip-offs!!!

I have been going to this office since I was 17 and I am now 24. The people here have saved my life and I could never have imagined all those years ago how much better off I am now. Jim Whited is a very intelligent man and knows what he is doing. You can trust him. Even if it seems like he is not listening, he really is. Do what he says and you will be better off for it. If you need counseling I recommend Doug. He is great at his job. Carla and Debbie are also amazing people and keep the place running and functional! Thank you for all you guys do!

I called on this office for many years as a pharmaceutical specialist. It is an A+ office in terms of expertise. My experience with Jim Whited, ARNP, was exceptional all around. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable (brilliant), ethical, and caring for his patients, and in his prescribing. I saw Jim at his other office for my medical needs, and would highly recommend him as a Practitioner! His focus on mental health patients within the community has been unbelievable!

I have been going to James (Jim) Whited ARNP and he is very straight forward and caring he is compassionate in his field of work he wants to help you he has been there when I needed to talk and has helped out without prescribing meds but by alternative ways of coping he is very good at what he does I send him alot if people that are asking for help with depression with weight loss or substance abuse. I have yet to have a bad thing to say or a problem about him .
