Beware!!!! I would not recommend this office or doctor wheeler. My experience turned out to be very poor, due too lack of integrity from both the staff and dr wheeler: poor staff competency, and lack of professionalism. Im writing to warn you of this doctor. Dont be impressed by the reviews you see, like I was and to my disappointment. The Doctor staff misquoted me on four (4) procedural costs and coverage. The procedure was complete and mr. wheeler came in to consult with me. While mr. Wheeler was consulting with me a staff member poked their head in the room interrupting us and informed Wheeler that they made a mistake. Wheeler left the room to talk in private. mr. James Wheeler, MD never came back!!??$%#^# He never came back in the finish his interrupted consultation. Then a staff member came in and told me Im finished and took me to the front to check out. I thought to myself what a strange way to end a doctors visit I wasnt even finished asking him questions,... strange??!@!@?/!!. Here is where things went south. They said I owed for a service that the staff member said was covered (hence why they went on to performing the procedure). I explained to the admin that I was told that it was covered. Admin went on to explain that they misquoted me on two other services that turned out to be covered (no cost to me), that I might as well go ahead and pay for the service that they mistakenly told me was covered. I refused to pay without a proper explanation and called for the doctor (who obviously order the admin staff to charge me for the service). doctor Wheeler ask me to sit down in his office then proceeded to say that since I was expecting to pay for two other procedures (that turn out to be misquoted and covered), that I should pay for the uncovered procedure since the amount was just a little less than what I was willing to pay for the other procedures. YES, HE SAID THAT. Can you believe it? I thought wow, how can someone who appear to be distinguished in person and online reviews have such a thwarted moral compass, an unethical nerve and audacity to suggest such a thing. I calmly told him that he should be ashamed of himself and knows better--I will not pay for someone elses mistake. He got mad and upset, a total character change, and said FINE, YOU DONT OWE ANYTHING. YOU CAN GET YOUR RESULT ONLINE, TRANSFER AND HAVE SOMEONE ELSE REVIEW THEM FOR YOU. GO AHEAD AND TRANSFER. So sad to see people in leadership roles be unethical and rude, trying to be strong while wrong. The entire staff was embarrassed by their part in playing along with the doctors orders and also began to take on his belligerent rudeness as was apparent while I was being checked out. Ive reported him to my health insurance and will bubble the matter up to other agencies. Just Unethical & Snaky. smh.

Hello, I had my appointment with Dr James Wheeler today and would like to share my experience with you all. It was not a great experience, I have no idea how Dr James running this practice with his bad attitude. I tried explaining him my issues, by providing some history on what has happened, but he kept cutting me off. That gave me a feeling that I need to rush. He spent less than 10 minutes with me with lot of arrogance and had no interest in listening to what I was telling. Whenever I asked him a question, he will interrupt me and it became really hard for me to ask him anything. While he was going out of the room, I just told him that I have one question. He still close the door, and then opened it back after a second and told me that he knows that I have many questions, and I should make a list of them, and then he will answer it. The way he told me this was in a very taunting way. He was just not interested in listening to what I had. I have no idea how good he is as a Doctor but I lost my trust on him, and denied the chest X-ray recommendation he had for me. Not sure if that was a right thing or not, but as I said, his arrogance and ignorant behavior led me to not believe on his diagnosis. His entire focus was, I guess, to make me feel so small in front of him. I think this is very common in people who have attitude problem. I know that Dr James wheeler has a son who is also a Doctor in same facility, so on my way out, I asked the faculty to see if the son also has the same bad attitude as the Dr James as I had my annual physical exam scheduled with him in next few days, and the first answer was, "No, he is different". Well, what that tells me is that everybody knows about the attitude issue Dr James is having. I never put reviews and all, but I am doing it for two reasons: One, if you have an appointment with Dr James, then just know what to expect. Second, if Dr James ever decides to read this, then try making some changes to his attitude and start earning trust of his patients. Arrogance and attitude issues could be ignored as all you want is to get treated correctly, but when it get accompanied by ignorance, then as a patient, I found it hard to trust his diagnosis and so may you!

As a new patient I went to see Dr. Wheeler and Dr. Kibler. I think they both seem really nice in the short time I went there. Since, I was new and with my health issues, there were a few sets of labs performed. Apparently, they process their labs internally as my insurance did not cover them completely (as they have done previously with Lab Corp and others). I found this out as I was checking out for my last visit. We had not yet received a bill nor was I told about this going into the appointment. The office manager (Liz) informed me that I couldnt make any further appointments and that I needed to pay the balance NOW. She was not willing to work with us in any way and was solely focused on getting the money immediately. (note: we received the bill in the mail TODAY) Ive never been to a doctors office where the money owed on labs held your ability to see the doctor hostage. Ive also never seen an office manager SO UNWILLING to work with you in ANY WAY. I will pay them the amount I owe but I will not be returning. Liz made sure of that. I also will not be recommending them because of her attitude and her inflexibility. I absolutely LOVED my last doctor but she couldnt keep good office staff to save her life and we were always having to get her office and the insurance company synced up over their mis-filing claims and then trying to bill us for something insurance should cover. Incompetent (previous) or inflexible (here) office staff are deal breakers. Especially when its the office manager. Now, I have to look for another practice.

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Wheeler for more than 5 years until today. I must fire him despite being a very good doctor to us (hes a 5 star rating). Some of his staffs must be new because Ive never been so miserably treated as a patient until this week! We forgot to pickup our prescriptions when leaving the office, and its becoming a mission impossible to get the staff to send the info to the pharmacist. When called by phone, I’m immediately put on hold by the switchboard for more than 30 minutes. Occasionally I’d hear ringing and someone would pickup the telephone and immediately put me on hold again without a word. While on-hold, I can call the office on different phone and got transfer to another staff, finished the conversation while the original call is still on hold. This happened twice on the same day because I had to callback to give the pharmacist fax#. The last straw is calling the office back 72 hours later to inform that the pharmacist has not received the prescriptions. Again, one phone is on hold forever, while another got through to be informed by the staff that I must come in to pick up the prescription. I’m still on hold for over 1 hour to speak to the doctor to get the prescriptions and hopefully & politely will let him know “you’re fired!”
