No! Do not take children there! Its already a scary experience for children going to the dentist dont make it traumatic by taking them to this woman. She is awful to the parents so just imagine how she treats the children. I took my daughter here and since it was a 45 minute trip early in the morning I let my daughter eat something on the way and after signing in told the receptionist I had to take her to the restroom to quickly brush her teeth but was stopped because we were being called to the back. I tried to explain why we had to go to the restroom quickly but they said they had some cancellations so since we were there we needed to go on back for the appointment. The dentist went on to berate me about my child having food in her teeth and that if I ever took her back to her like that again that she would have to turn us away and not be our daughters dentist. I was shocked and just sat there until she was done with the appointment. When rebecca whigham was done examining I explained that I allowed her to eat a quick snack on the way in the car since we had such an early morning appointment and lived so far away I had to wake her up early to leave for the appointment so I felt a snack on the way there was a good idea. I was going to quickly brush her teeth since we got there early but was told I couldnt because there had been other patients cancel their appointments they were moving us up and just going to see us earlier. I did not appreciate her talking to me in such a disrespectful manner to the point I would never take my dog to her let alone my child. I told her Im an adult though I may look young and I did nothing to be treated so badly. I was doing them a favor going in early!

I have no clue how they are still open except for the fact that they are one of the few dentists in the area to see kids and accept medicaid. Persnicketty dentists who require that the youngest children(mine is 3) come in first thing in the morning because "they are less cranky then" and will not allow parents to go back with their kids after they hit the ripe old age of 3 without REALLY fussing and arguing with you. Because, obviously kids wont freak out without a parent present. Seriously? I was expected to allow them to lead my 3 year old back there and me to stay in the waiting room while God knows what happened in the back. Nope. Final straw was when they called to reschedule our appointment after I confirmed it twice over a week through their text messaging system but all of a sudden they decided the office would be closed the day before the appointment and called me after I had made arrangements with work and school. I will drive an extra hour out of the way before I take my children here again.

I began going to dr. Whigham when I was 2 years old, I absolutely adored her as a child. I was never afraid to go back alone, because she made me feel comfortable. I respect that they do not allow parents in the back because it allows for them to bond with the child with out them clinging to a parent. I used dr. Whigham until I was 17 years old. My first experience at an adult dentist office was terrifying as I was so used to my comfort at dr. Whighams office. I now have two children, a two year old and a 2 MO old and I fully intend on using her for my children. I absolutely cannot fathom some of the comments about her mistreating children to be true.

@Franco Lopez, when you say they treat the children badly, can you elaborate? What was your experience there with your children. Another young lady said they strapped her down when she was 4 years old, I didnt know that was a practice of theirs. My son goes there and we havent had any issues thus far but I certainly do not like the fact that we can not go back there with our children, thats a big concern of mine.

I wouldnt even give this place a 1 rating . Worst place I have ever been. I remember being placed in a chair and handcuffed when I was 4 years old. I remember also being strappe down to a board and having my teeth pulled. I would recommend not going here! They wouldnt even allow my father to come in the office with me. Horrible memories. Horrible place..

Dr. Rebecca Whigham had taken care of all 3 of my kids some they were 6, 4 and 2. Have always been exceptional in dealing with them and very gentle. My kids are now 18, 16 and 14 and dont want to think about them growing up and having to find a new dentist.
