Im writing this review based on my own personal experience in my healthcare, after a long and difficult recovery from Lyme disease and currently still treating a Mycoplasma infection for the past 9 years of my life. I have been to a different range of doctors, anything from general medicine to all kinds of specialists. I once waited over 6 months to be seen by a doctor, only to walk in to my appointment and then being told that they cannot help me because I dont fit into the mold of what they want from a patient. After years of being my own advocate in my healthcare and having to take matters into my own hands by educating myself, I am finally at a good place where I can function and have my life back. During my personal journey with my health, I have been fortunate enough to have found a few doctors along the way that are able to look beyond whats written in a text book and focus on me as an individual. I was lucky to have found Dr. Bain in Chicago after moving here and I am very happy to make him a part of MY TEAM vs me being part of theirs. He is not your traditional doctor in the way that he runs his office. When you walk in there will not be any receptionist to greet you but Dr. Bain himself. When you want to make an appointment you will have to go online through ZocDoc and schedule your own appointment. Once youre in the office with Dr. Bain you will notice right away his personality. Hes very personable and you will feel comfortable talking to him about various topics, some might not even be health related, but in a way he makes you laugh and he makes you feel comfortable. The things that people said about the copayment are not true. He is a very considerate doctor but at the end of the day he still needs to get paid, right? He is not the type of doctor that will sit there and look at the clock and kick you out when the time allowed by your insurance company runs out. He might even be a little late at times for your appointment, if there was someone else before you but he will never cut your time short. Now to talk about his approach to your treatment. He says it on his site that he recommends that you seek his help as a secondary doctor and opinion. He is not your regular mainstream doctor, if youre looking for a text book doctor that will diagnose you based of that then dont bother going to him. If you are active in your healthcare youre able to do your own research and youre looking for someone to be part of your team as opposed to completely relying on a doctor that you think will magically make you all better then do go to him. Dr. Bain is an amazing doctor, he is very knowledgeable and will help you fill in the gaps and suggest new things to assist in your recovery. He may not be for everyone, I believe the bad reviews on here are from those people that pretty much need just a text book doctor as opposed to someone that is open minded and willing to work with you. Thank you Dr. Bain!

Dr. Bain has been my internist and integrative health doctor for nearly 18 years. He has helped me unravel my various health concerns from thyroid, stealth infections, hormonal issues, adrenal weakness, food allergies and intolerance, mold issues, as well as mundane illnesses. Two months ago, I suffered a stroke (12/2015). The next morning Dr. Bain drove to the hospital in the Western suburbs where I was in ICU and sat with my husband and the various doctors assigned to my case and consulted/talked with them all. With my permission, he filled them in on my present health challenges, the meds I was taking and the general state of my health, other than the stroke. He did this without any thought of compensation and was there only out of concern for my health and wellbeing. Since that time, Dr. Bain has served as a liaison between me and the various specialists assigned to my case. He has been in touch with me daily, and has monitored my ongoing recovery. He has suggested some additional holistic treatments which will help me to get to full recovery and health once again. I was lucky to have come thru the stroke with minimal impairment, mostly in my speech. I was put on a drug, the purpose of which is to prevent me from having any more strokes. As the weeks/months on this drug went on, I felt less and less well, weaker, spiraling downward, and began having terrible side effect complaints. The neurologist and the cardiologist I saw insisted that I needed to stay on the med - that I had no choice. Dr. Bain was the only doctor who believed my side effects were becoming intolerable and not just in "my head". He spoke with the doctors who insisted I stay on the med they had prescribed and he found another drug, which was tried and true, to give me instead after reaching a consensus with the specialists. After a week off the problematic drug, I am finally beginning to feel like myself again. Dr. Bain has been there for me all the way thru this journey. He has reassured me that,"we were going to get me healthy again" and ordered lab tests at Quest when I begged him not to make me go to the ER, so that he could figure out what was going on with my blood, kidney function, etc I honestly feel that I owe my life to Dr. Bain. Once again, he has been there for me. My family and I are so grateful that he is our family doctor.

This was the weirdest experience I have ever had at a doctors office. He did absolutely nothing for me but talk in circles and he made no sense al all. I received no treatment and he just talked about random subjects and on his phone during my visit. I originally went here because I read some yelp reviews. I am extremely surprised that people have posted "he was the best doctor" on Yelp reviews. It must have been at a different time because this person is senile to say the least. Im convinced the reviews on Yelp must have come from his friends or he paid for that. Those false reviews made me go to him and I am sorry I did. When I was laying on the table he answered his cell phone on 3 different occasions, and went to his seat to start typing irrelevant information about something going on with his computer system and what "Kevin" was doing wrong. (Who ever that was) He was nervous about asking for the co-pay as if people have denied him in the past. But he asked about the co pay maybe 5 times. I paid him the co-pay because I felt bad for how horrible of a so called professional he was. I figured no one ever comes back to him. So I considered it charity. Im surprised that he is on BCBSs list because he is in no way a doctor by any means. BCBS should take him off of their list. Basically my neck is still sore and I am going to go see a real doctor on Monday. Do not waste your time going here! This guy is crazy and extremely unprofessional.
