DO NOT SEND YOUR AGING LOVED ONE to Home Instead in Bloomington, IN. From personal experience, I can promise you will NOT be placed with a trained caregiver. For training, Home Instead staff members hand out pamphlets of books + notes, all required to be submitted AFTER employment. On the job training is minimal to none (and unpaid), especially if the caregiver already has previous experience. Home Instead charges the customer $20-$25 per hour, but only pays their employees $8.75 an hour. Overtime, insurance, higher positions, frequent raises, or benefits are not offered to any employee, so caregivers are quick to quit. With that being said, the overturn rate is high, so employees are desperately called in for 20-25 hour shifts, back-to-back. Also, Home Instead staff members care very little of their caregivers, only communicating with them during meetings every 2-3 weeks. In fact, employees are REQUIRED to pick-up paychecks in person, as an excuse to "see" Home Instead Staff. In conclusion, what you will get with Home Instead is an overworked, undertrained, stressed out Caregiver. This is entirely an unprofessional company issue. Look elsewhere!

My biggest problems with HomeInstead are the lack of training involved, high turn around, and young ages of their workers. Working with the disabled or elderly is a serious task and they dont approach this work with the care necessary as we are a vulnerable group. So they send really young women-usually age 19 or 20 to do major tasks, youd think having a background or degree in occupational therapy would be a requirement but it isnt. They tend to be inexperienced, unprofessional, and rarely take initiative. One even lost my credit card! I dont recommend this service.
