The main older male Vet seems to have lost his overall love for animals, the reason he probably started treating animals. Now it is money that he is careful to take care of and bring in. I was waiting for the Vet to come in at one appt., and I mentioned my dogs nails to the tech that showed me to the waiting room. The nails were long and the quick had grown out (she was my grandmothers dog, and my grandmother passed on) somewhat deep into the long claws. The tech offered to trim them, and I asked if it would be extra, she said "no problem, may as well do it while I am in here for you. It is okay." The claw bled a tiny bit. No physical harm, no complaint, it happens. Upon checking out the Main Vet (older man) tapped her shoulder and whispered to her, upon which the bill was changed. He had noted the blood and made sure to charge me for the trimming. He wanted it noted, and noted the nails were too long, as if I would come back in mad, or attempt to sue him over this (that or plain greed, what other reason could there be for him to MAKE her change my bill and add that for a couple of bucks?) Maybe he thought it would get infected, and again, wanted to note that I asked for a nail trim and had neglected to do it, so an infection would be my fault, who knows? In any event, I was offered a trim, the dog is in great health, lives inside, and is taken care of in a terrific manner. (Only exception to great care is that the trimmers scared her, so my 80 year old grandma did not trim them often enough because she did not want to scare her baby. This still does not mean that the dog is not taken care of in all aspects. In fact, we had her at the vet for an X-ray, because she had a slight limp, turned out nothing broken, just played a bit too hard. I paid all fees, and he made sure to tack a fee on the trim that was just a smile and "no problem" until he saw it) I asked him if there was a problem when I saw him hand over paper work and whisper, he put on a fake smile and said "no". He did not even have the respect to tell me he was charging for the nails, as he promptly exited the waiting room as I checked out. I mad no scene of it, this was just the last case, and I will deal with it no more. The small statured Female Veterinarian is an awesome person, and she truly does love animals. Request her, or re-schedule if you get him, or just go somewhere else. During this same appt. he man handled my dog, and I made a mental note in my head and it was if he rolled her one more time (on the stainless steel, elevated exam table) as if she were an inanimate object, I was going to tell him to ease up, treat her with care. Obviously though, it did not happen again. I had normally only gotten vaccines or dealt with the others who love the animals. From the time I was a kid, up to now, each encounter I have had, seen him have with an animal, and from others interactions I have been told about (going there because of an emergency), he exhibits the same callous behavior. At this point also, the front desk will not even tell you to go ahead and clean a wound with water, they say "SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT" no matter what, and this has to be his policy. They are subordinates, and what he says, they must do. I understand that. However, if you want a Vet that loves his job and animals, go elsewhere, for his passion has faded years ago, and he seems more interested in the upkeep of his Mercedes. Other reviews may be spot on, I am sure there are some good experiences with him, and I am also sure there are senior citizens that do not notice some things, or people that have always gone there and do not know what it is like to be in a place where tenderness and love of animals is the main focus (or they dealt with the Female Veterinarian. If you must, you must, but if you need anything other than a vaccine, I strongly suggest you go elsewhere. I apologize for any typing errors. I wish you all the best.

I have been going to Brookville Road Animal Hospital for nearly 15 years. I have read the other reviews about Dr. Canada and I will say that he has not been my doctor but I have had the occasion to see him and I agree that he does not have the compassion or tenderness with animals as the other doctors. That is in no way means he is abusive or treats the animals in a manner that it is hurtful. In the last year he has sold part of his practice to one of the other doctors which is why they have expanded and renovated the gilding and upgraded lots of features and Dr. Canada doesnt see as many patients as he used to. I personally see Dr Grigger or Dr. Dryden. They have always taken their time and listened to me. They let me participate in the decisions about my pets care and never force me to do any kind of treatment I dont want or cant afford. They always come in and immediately love on my animals as if they were their own which to me is a tell-tell sign of how my pet is going to be treated while in their care. I have been given multiple-pet discounts and these doctors dont make me just come in for unnecessary things now that they have email. I have also researched pricing information across Indianapolis and found them to be the cheapest vet for most if not all routine care like X-rays etc. this doesnt include places like FACE or other discount service providers for just shots or spay/neuter clinics. So I would highly recommend them. And as always if you are unhappy about something speak up. These pets are like your children and if you think someone was mishandling your child at an appoint,Ent you would say something so do the same for your fur-baby as they dont have a voice; thats our responsibility. And if all else fails choose another clinic. Good luck and best wishes. But give Brookville Road a try. I think they are worth it!!

Unknown as to how anyone could give the folks at Brookville Road a bad review, but they have always treated me well. My dogs love Dr. Crowe and Stella thinks its a great place to visit too. When my oldest dog Stella had some kind of cerebral event I was terrified that I would loose her and Dr. Canada was just great. He kept Stella several days and ran lots of tests. He could have charged me an arm and a leg because testing for brain problems can be very hit and miss. I would have paid whatever the cost and Dr. Canada knew that, but instead, he watched my dog very carefully and charged what I felt was a very reasonable price (less than 300.00) to get to the bottom of the problem. Stella has had no lasting effects from the stroke (or cerebral event, as the doctor described it), and I didnt have to sell the family jewels to pay the bill. I am always happy with the way they treat us and the vet techs are very knowledgeable, especially Dawn, who has been with them several years. I think they go above and beyond the call of duty and wouldnt hesitate to recommend Brookville Road to all my friends.
