FINALLY GOT AN ANSWER!!! I brought my Westie in after he was showing signs of a severe ear infection. In addition he is currently on allergy injections and has had adverse side effects from the injections. I had addressed my concerns with his regular vet on numerous occasions to no avail. I knew something was wrong with my pupski but could not get a straight answer from my vet. I took my pup (ok hes almost 4 but will always be a pup to me. Can you tell I love my dog with all of my heart and soul, so this was a BIG deal!) in to IVEC hopeful to find answers. I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Smith on the case, Dr. Smith took one look at my pup and had a fairly good idea as to what was going on. What a relief! I had been waiting for an aswer from my regular vet for so long that I was fairly certain that I was not going to get an answer! As it turned out my pup had a horrible yeast infection on his skin and a raging ear infection. The good doctor was VERY thorough and explained everything in GREAT detail, even answering my multiple questions, multiple times. Dr. Smith and the rest of the staff were very kind and compassionate with me and my pup. I was highly impressed with Dr. Smith and how detail oriented she was in regard to every step of his treatment. Dr. Smith was very thorough in finding his diagnosis, which was very helpful at putting this hyper-sensitive dog owners mind to rest. There isnt anything that I wouldnt do to make certain that my pup has the best of everything, including and especially his health care. The staff at IVEC from the receptionist to the good doctor made me and my pup feel safe and cared for. The staff including Dr.Smith made certain to tell me more than once that if I needed anything at any time to not hesitate to call, and I actually believe that they meant it. After 2 days a woman from IVEC called to check up on my pup and was very concerned and compassionate about his well-being. I have seen the reviews that others have written complaining about the cost, and I understand that things are tight for folks, but at the end of the day I felt like I received a very fair price for the level of care that I received. I told Dr. Smith that I didnt care what it would cost, just make him feel better... I am certain that if she had less integrity or was not truly concerned about my pup she could have price gauged me and I wouldnt have really known the difference. However Dr. Smith went over in detail (even though I didnt ask) what the cost would be potentially. Granted she couldnt give me an exact total but she gave me a ball park total that ended up being right on point. My dog brings me so much unconditional love and brings so much joy into my world that I will do whatever is necessary to make certain that he has the highest level of care. Clearly the highest level of care is at IVEC. Thanks to all of you, especially to Dr.Smith for finally getting me the answers that my regular vet clearly missed. You all are amazing care givers, like I said from the receptionist to the extern to the tech and to the good doctor; THANK YOU for taking care of my pup, he looks and clearly feels much better!!!

Im the proud daddy of a German Shepherd named Blitz thats 7 years old. Blitz lost function of his hind legs one day and my wife and I rushed him in to IndyVet. After many tests, we found that he has Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD). We went forward with treatment and surgery and are now in the rehabilitation process with Blitz. He is slowly regaining function of his hind legs and we hope that he will be walking again and recover his bladder function, as well. Things are really looking promising for our little warrior! Staff: Weve been at IndyVet a lot (practically our second home) and throughout this process, the entire staff at IndyVet has been INCREDIBLY helpful. Every doctor is extremely knowledgeable, but the most time Ive spent is with Dr. Vecchio and Dr. Westrick. Not only are they TOP-NOTCH professionals, but they are also exceptional individuals. They connect with you on a personal level, they do not get your hopes up or down and they have a strong sense of compassion. Care: In my opinion, you cannot possibly rival the care received at IndyVet. Ive never seen care like this and it truly gave us peace of mind when Blitz was hospitalized for an entire week. You can call anytime for advice or to check up on your pup (24 hrs). Weve utilized IndyVet a lot as a resource and they are always kind and patient with us. There are many animal lovers there that give Blitz lots of love, and he looks forward to going to IndyVet. This says a lot, because Blitz hates going to the vet usually. Blitz always comes out better than when he came in and often times the staff will go above and beyond to do extra to ensure he is as comfortable as possible. The only thing you have to worry about here is that your pup might get spoiled off of all of the positive attention! :) Pricing: As some other reviews have mentioned, it can be very pricey. I would spend a bit more at IndyVet any day because they are on an entire different level when compared with other vets. They have equipment and a facility that is hard to match. IndyVet is not a money hungry emergency vet bent on world domination. They are paying for the best staff and equipment. Although nobody likes hefty fees, you have to realize what it would cost for a HUMAN without health insurance and undergoing surgery. Where they could work with me on price, they did and I appreciate it greatly. Note: One thing I am kicking myself over and wish I had done is had Trupanion insurance (found out about it at IndyVet and just got it today). A lot of Blitzs surgery would have been covered and so would his IVDD in the future. Now since it is a preexisting condition, he is covered on everything, but not his IVDD. Get Trupanion or some kind of insurance for your pet now before they can develop anything that would not be covered. I wanted to wait a while before I wrote this review so that I can give the most accurate and honest assessment of my time there. There is no place on Gods green earth that I would rather take my beloved Shepherd than IndyVet. Thanks so much for what you have done we will always love and remember IndyVet and its awesome staff!

Dont go there, even if you dont read the rest of this review, know this, IndyVet takes advantage of emotions, provides poor care, has a serious lack of communication between attending vets, and cost a fortune. They are very focused on being paid above all else. What happened to us occurred several years ago, I wrote the BBB and Attorney Generals Office when it happened, to no avail. Hopefully this post will be of help to some poor soul that is seeking competent, compassionate and loving care for their pet. I had one of the very worst experiences in my life at IndyVet Emergency and Speciality Hospital. My dog, Abbotts (rotti) regular vet misdiagnosed Abbotts situation. Two weeks after a visit to his regular vet, Abbott stopped eating, his eyes glazed, in obvious pain. We took him to IndyVet and were advised that several test needed to be performed for a diagnosis. A credit card required before treatment would begin. A credit card and signatures were provided to pay for Abbotts treatment. I told the admitting vet that my dog was in pain and asked about pain mgmt. I was assured that IndyVet was very good with pain mgmt and they would take care of Abs pain mgmt needs. We agreed to all tests recommended by the vet, thinking they were applying pain meds. An ultrasound revealed tumors, addl testing revealed cancer. A deep body biopsy was recommended to determine type and treatability of the cancer. During the biopsy, (long needle pushed into one of the masses) Abs had a respiratory attack, was in tremendous distress and not expected to survive the night. I asked if Abbott had been sedated and/or given pain meds during the biopsy and was met with silence. I realized this awful procedure had been performed on Abbott without pain meds. Our dog was there for two days, enduring numerous expensive tests and was in agony. My husband had Abbott put to sleep to ease his pain and suffering. Upon looking at the final invoice, we discovered that our dog received no pain meds during the two days he was at IndyVet….none at all! When asked how this happened, there was finger pointing within IndyVet regarding the pain management issue, the vet that looked at him when we first arrived. put him on a run and did not attend to him at all, the next shift didnt check his chart, and thought he had been attended to by the first vet, charts not checked, lack of communication between attending vets during shift changes, etc., it went on and on with excuses, lack of accountability, and/or accepting responsibility for the negligent and shoddy care provided. Our loss and grief was compounded with the knowledge that we had agreed to all of this testing that in essence tortured Abbott. No words for the pain Abs endured, overwhelming sadness and grief for us. No accountability for IndyVet and they were well paid for the incompetent service. Never again!!
