Its so sad to me that no one has a problem leaving reviews for a dentist, family doctor, restaurant or whatever, but no one wants to leave a review for a counseling/therapy clinic. One in four adults will struggle with mental illness at some point and its nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. I came to this clinic once a week for just under a year: Dr. Gurvitz was an extremely strong member of my support system during what was arguably the most difficult time of my life, even though my issues were not her listed specialty (I think she mainly helps with older adult issues.) She listened to me, validated me, challenged me when needed and taught me the coping skills I needed to get through not only a time of extreme personal crisis, but also to incorporate into everyday life. She helped me see how my thinking patterns were inefficient/keeping me stuck and showed me how to change them. She went above and beyond for me, including a referral to an amazing psychiatric facility when it became evident that talk therapy wasnt sufficient. I can only assume the other doctors are just as skilled as Dr. Gurvitz and the office staff were always very welcoming and pleasant. I would recommend Family Psychology Associates to anyone who wants to work on themselves, their relationships, or someone who needs a helping hand during hard times.

I was not very happy with the therapy there for my son. He suffers from OCD but was being labeled a "troubled child". He needed help but it seems that the focus was on myself and husband, not on my child. My son refuses to seek therapy because he does not want to waste his time. He felt Christine did not help him at all. We are now traveling back and forth to NY for therapy. I feel they should not take on patients with disorders they are not properly trained to treat. We should have been referred elsewhere.

Christine Bergman has been wonderful to me! I am now 21 years old and I have been in therapy with her for anxiety/depression since I was 16 years old...So sad to have left since I moved to North Carolina. She is great! Going to my appointments was truly always a good experience; my happy place. She is very calm, knowledgable, and understanding.
