Ive already left one review for the Simon Cancer Center, but I feel its necessary to leave another here. Today I spent more than an hour on hold, and got bounced from one person to another, when all I wanted was to reschedule an appointment that I was given less than 24 hours notice of I live 3 hours away and I was told that IU was the only place that can help me. I call BS. So far the only thing they have done is cause more stress. Ive been waiting for over 3 months to find out if I have CANCER, yet I keep getting the run a round. Their pathetic hold message says how they care about their patients, but I beg to differ. They do NOT care one bit. The times that we have made the long drive there, which is excruciatingly painful for me, because I have a broken sacrum, the people weve had to talk to were rude, and didnt seem to know anything. I only ever had one lady be nice to me, and that was when I asked the information desk lady where a drinking fountain was. Well after hobbling down a long hall with my can, there was no fountain as she insisted there was, I was so worn out, in pain and just over stressed that I broke down, thankfully some wonderful lady who worked there got me a bottle of water. The valet people were rude, took over 30 minutes to get my car, then they got crappy with us and said if you wanted your car, you should have came down 15 minutes before you wanted to leave to request it. 15 minutes before I was ready to leave, I was in a doctors office being talked to like an idiot by the doctor, he talked to me like I didnt know where my injuries and possible cancer were located. They also dont listen, at all. I live 3 hours away and they always seem to forget that. They are dragging their heels, and no one there cares about the patients, no one. Ive only got 11 weeks of my FMLA left before its maxed out and Im with out a job, Ive told them this repeatedly, yet they are still dragging their asses. I dont see what is so hard about providing good polite patient care. Patients dealing with cancer or possible cancer are already stressed out their the fullest, you would think they would be aware of that, but no, they just stress you out more and treat you rudely and can never seem to answer a question, they love to transfer you to someone else. Well, if you dont know your job, maybe you shouldnt be there making patient experiences worse. Whats next, do I have to call and email the board. I highly doubt they care either, but a place like that should NOT staff assholes, rude nurses, and people who talk down to you, when you are only there for HELP.

Dont have a loved one put on the 6th floor. The nursing staff is horrific. Theyre too busy texting, talking, and primping. They so mistreated my grandson, making him feel like he was a baby because he had post operative pain. They refused to give him proper medications, change his sheets, or assist in his bathe. He had major surgery after a year of 6 rounds of chemo and 2 stem cell transplants. My grandson is anything but a baby. When we discussed proper paid meds with Dr. Richard Foster, he was arrogant and rude. My grandsons mother is a practicing pediatric nurse practitioner at University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville FL. She stayed with her son throughout his year old ordeal at Shands. He was treated with dignity and respect and gentle loving care. None of that did he receive at IU. The nurses and doctors made him swallow pills for nausea; imagine one constantly throwing up and being given pills! THEY ARE CRUEL, HEARTLESS, AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Dr. Richard Foster is an arrogant man playing God.

Dr rotation constantly changes so difficult if not impossible to get questions answered, when answers were most needed, told that dr was out of the country, primary collaboration was with a nurse speaking for the dr. often times making wrong decisions without the drs consent. Drs offended when you seek a 2nd opinion. No coumadin clinic, no palliative care, indications that priorities are high in regard to costs as opposed to patient care. Only 75% would recommend, according to the signs in their corridors. Very happy with our care now at a different hospital, treatments received now not given at IU have drastically improved the health of this patient. Avoid IU hospital and all of their affiliates at all cost.

Although the surgery my daughter-in-law (to be) had was a relatively successful surgery, it wasnt good enough that she didnt have to go back for a repair at the end of two weeks. Since that repair, she has tried to get by w/o taking the opiate pain relievers, but shes having almost no relief! To add insult to injury, though, she can NEVER get past the Voicemail. In fact, 1 voicemail even sends the caller to a 2nd voicemail!!! And still, Nobody picks up OR calls back!! Its Horrible!!! And No One wants to keep driving back & forth to Emergency - Especially having to keep paying for gas & parking & using up the entire familys time!!

Scheduling a referral to a dermatologist from my IU-GP is weeks to months out for a painful, blistery, burning & spreading rash. All people I spoke with at the various numbers were nothing more than glorified operators referring me back to various doctors office numbers. At one office they even used the excuse that many spring breakers are coming in at this time of year. Good to know they can get their groove on with prescription sunburn lotion or no acne breakouts while Im going to end up covered head to toe and laid up in a hospital bed like a severe burn victim.

Some of your nurses on the 4th floor need to understand that probably most of the people they are dealing with is possibly having the worst day of their life. It would have been nice if the nurses could have stopped their conversation that was not work related to help when we needed it. It was very rude, unprofessional and very uncalled for. Maybe your nurses re-trained in how to treat patients and their families. Makes me wonder how theyre treating the patients when theyre alone...........

I would not be alive today if it werent for Dr. Pascuzzi at Indiana University Hospital. He is head of the neuro dept. and when I first saw him I was not expected to live. That was October 4, 2005. Today is Dec. 18, 2011, over six years later and Im doing better than anyone could have imagined, including Dr. Pascuzzi. I have been referred to as a miracle and I believe that but it takes a Doctor that doesnt give up and he never did. It also takes a patient that wont give up and I never did.

Dr. C. Max Schmidt, Pancreatologist Surgeon, is the nicest, most professional doctor I have dealt with in the past 2 years, along with Dr. John DeWitt in my friends long battle with post lung transplant issues creating many gastro problems and now pancreatic tumors. These two Drs are prime examples of how ALL doctors should be trained to treat their patients and the patients support people! Thank you two and your wonderful staff for all you have done for Mr. Ed.
