Around Christmas 2015 I had a small blood blister pop on the bottom of my right foot. Didnt think anything of it. Just cleaned it, wrapped it up and expected it to heal. What could go wrong? Over the next 4 weeks what i thought was healing nicely turned into a granuloma (according to my non Jeanes Hospital Podiatrist) which is the body building a wall around an infection or foreign body or something it does not know how to deal with. A biological quarantine. I just thought it was the wound callousing over and healing. Pop! January 30th, 2016 the granuloma bursts. Now imagine your foot coated in semi dry thickening blood leaking out of your sneakers & a coated sock that had adhered to your foot. Its swollen. It was Die Hard. So at this point there is something wrong. I take the shoes off, clean my foot and wrap it up so I can walk on it again and head off to Jeanes ER. Through the door and there is not a soul in sight. No one there. Just the security guard, the blood pressure guy and the intake nurse. I am admitted to the ER in record time. The nurse comes in checks my vitals followed by the Doctors Aid. Shoes and Socks off and here comes Kathy Bates. She sits down. Looks at it. Presses it with her thumb which hurts like hell and then proceeds to ask what happened. I tell her. First words outta her mouth are "Im not touching that. Im not cutting that out. Youre gonna have to go see a foot doctor or a clinic if you dont have medical insurance." I ask her why ad she tells me that it isnt an emergency and they do not do that sort of thing here and a doctor will tell me the same thing. They do not do that sort of thing here? Thank you so much Nurse Ratchet. I thought at hospitals when someone came in that had a growth coming out of a wound on the bottom of a foot that will bleed profusely that is most likely an infection would be treated. My expectation was for them was to cut the growth out. Prescribe an antibiotic, Send it to the lab. Stitch me up. And send me on my merry. I was not refused service but this was being turned away. I was born at Jeanes Hospital. Went there when i was 5 when i shoved an M&M up my nose. The doctors aid left. So. I took 2 bandaids out of my wallet, stuffed my show with napkins and asked the nurse where is the door. I left, went home, told the girlfriend, and scheduled a appoint with a podiatrist?. The earliest opening they had was a week out. I called the patient relations number for Jeanes. Told them everything that I am posting here and they have not as of yet got back to me. The foot is taken care of so there is nothing they could do. This is embarrassing to have happened at Jeanes Hospital. I will never go there again. If I was shot laying 10 feet from their front door I would find a way Elkins Park ER. UPDATE! March 14 2016! Just received a 350 dollar bill for emergency room service and emergency room visit. For what? No services were given no services were rendered! Nothing was done! I was refused. I was turned away. You want to Bill me for telling me no? This is complete and utter bullshit! I sat in a room for less then half hour. Didnt even give me a bandaid! 350 to talk to a doctors aid about how much shes not going to help the bleeding cyst on the bottom of my toe. This is a joke. Youre kidding me? Bravo you horses asses!

I recently came here for an emergency surgery. While I was in the ER, I had the most amazing nurse. I wish I could remember her name now, but she was incredible. She was really empathetic of what I was going through. The doctor I had in the ER was also just so nice and kind and made sure I knew the next step and what was wrong and so on. When I was brought up to the second floor, before surgery, I had a nurse NANCY and an aide JUDY who were both also so incredible. They really helped me prepare for my surgery emotionally. They were there the whole time if I needed them. After surgery, at shift change, I had a nurse LISA and an aide SCOTT who were just as amazing. I was so nervous of who I would get at night, because this is when it is the hardest being at a hospital. THEY WERE AMAZING. Absolutely amazing. I hope they see this review one day because if it was not for them, I dont know what I would have done. LISA and SCOTT made my stay overnight as calm as they possibly could. They made sure not only if I was comfortable but if my visitor was also. In the morning, I had a nurse LU and an aide ED, who helped me prepare to be discharged. They made sure I had a great discharge and that I had no questions. They made sure I had everything I needed before I left. The doctor I had, DR. BELL, is absolutely phenomenal also. He made sure I knew everything to know before going into surgery. To the NURSES, ANESTHESIOLOGISTS who were also incredible and I just cant remember the names now, the one I had was so empathetic and made sure I was smiling before I went into surgery and that I wasnt too scared. He also checked on me in the morning, THE SURGEONS AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my stay incredible. I hope everyone has the type of stay I had. I hope you all see this review one day, because you made my day and I hope to make yours. I hope one day you all see this. Thank you again.

Lets put it this way, If I were shot in the face across the street from Jeanes ER, Id rather die there in the road than deal with the AWFUL staff they have employed there. I entered the ER today being the ONLY person their. i had severe abdominal pain that leFt me clenching and crying in pain. I told the nurse that I couldnt even eat the pain was so intense and even gave her my 9 out of 10 pain rating. After about an hour of being there, another 10-15 people show up and still NO ONE IS BEING CALLED BACK. I questioned about my wait time and I was told that the people that called ambulances and PAID MORE MONEY BY DOING SO, get treated first regardless of why they are there. Then the nurse that took my info started to argue with me when I asked her to leave me alone. She persisted to get out of her seat and come over to me and argue, I explained to her that when a patient is in severe pain that she shouldnt be making it worse by pretty much attacking me, and she didnt care. The head nurser came out and finally told me I was next. About 10 minutes later, the woman who came in and was processed AFTER ME with a pain rating of 8 and her symptoms being "sweaty palms" gets called in. Of course I dont understand this and when I question the nurse she said it was because the woman "probably got there first" I told her that was not true and she said oh well and when I got upset, she told me Id be sitting there ALL DAY. REALLY?????? I dont know how many times those nurses had to get on theirs knees or bend over to earn their "degree", but this is NOT how a hospital should be run. Needless to say, I left the ER, went home, curled into a ball and cried my eyes out until I fell asleep. JEANES HOSPITAL CARES ABOUT $$$$$$$$$$$ NOT ABOUT THE WELLBEING OF THE PATIENTS THAT VISIT THEM.
