I was transferred from another hospital and for that reason I believe, was evaluated rather quickly. On a previous stay, I kind of just showed up.... and 11 hours later, I was finally admitted. 11 hours and a bologna sandwich. I dont usually complain about hospital food. Its food, within an institution. Its not going to be 5 star. However, without knowing for certain, Im thinking prisoners get better food than this. Always cold. Always gross. Unless its a holiday. Then, they actually serve hot food that is very edible. But, like last time, I had to ask the doctor for supplement shakes. Because, I (Like many others), dont do well without some version of food. Seriously. Just serve salads and sandwiches Friends. Wed all be better off. Or dont bring the food up and let it sit for an hour before serving. I liked the groups. Its why I picked this hospital a second time around. Some staff, however, were a-holes and make me wonder why we are allowed to express concerns during the first and last groups.... when we do and are reprimanded for it. Also, we are adults and prefer to watch something above the grade of cartoons sometimes. Im not asking for rated R here. No need for rape scenes and such. But again, WE ARE ADULTS. My social worker, yet again, didnt really social work. I say yet again, because they either seem to do their job well (Brooke Glenn on Close Ops) or they see you on your last day and thats it (Brooke Glenn different unit/Horsham Clinic... same woman). Im the one who had to call my Psychiatrists office to schedule an appointment. Said it wasnt something she did. Really? Listen people. Your social worker, is supposed to set up after care for you. Dont listen to or tolerate that crap. And, when they give you a shi**y explanation to cover their tracks, complain. Its the only way WE get heard. Oh. When I left I stayed in contact with a fellow patient. Who informed me they found mold in the patient water dispenser and had a problem with bed bugs. So, the only reason this place gets any stars at all, is the groups. And, the fact the doctor apologized to me. Never had a doctor make a mistake and fess up to it. Which earns at least 1 star in my book.

Friends Hospital is a waste of time for any person with mental or emotional health issues. Starting with the intake process, I sat in the intake area for 17 hours before I was given a bed. They did not attempt to contact my insurance company until 13 hours after I had been admitted to the hospital. I spent 17 hours in a sitting position in a brightly lit room with a blaring television looping infomercials at top volume (two major migraine triggers for me) without my medications, further irritating some of my physical ailments and completely pushing me to my emotional limitations. I went to the hospital because I was very far off from being well and by the time I was brought to the room I would be staying in I was much worse off physically, mentally and emotionally than when I showed up. The treatment team that I had was less than willing to work with me towards any positive treatment goals and I was told by the unit psychiatrist that they would not be able to help me there but would not release me until I signed a 72 order and completed those 72 hours in the unit. I was without most of my medications to manage multiple physical issues. Getting my psych. medications was also an issue for the first several days, my medication for anxiety and PTSD was never addressed causing me to be in a complete state of panic for the time that I was inpatient (7 days). The medical staff was non-existent in helping me with addressing my medical problems (had surgery right before going inpatient). I was physically ill the majority of time that I was there and getting Imodium to address those issues took over 24 hours for approval and getting them added to my chart. Group therapy was limited to movement and musical therapy. Two things I could not do, because of the recent surgery and the migraine I was experiencing and unable to get medication for. The whole time I was there I was in more pain, physically, mentally and emotionally. Everything about what they do in regards to caring for people with mood and mental disorders needs to be reevaluated as they are doing more harm than good to a very vulnerable population.

The EMT staff that helped do the initial intake paper work was very slow. He asked us why we brought our patient there and he told us that they werent sure if that was the place for him. then he stood there looking at his clipboard for a long time without telling us what he was doing. I had to ask him what the procedures are there for some clarity on what was going on. Only then did he explain the process, almost as if he didnt really feel like putting in the extra effort if I hadnt asked him. The facilities are very dirty and shabby. The initial waiting room for intake was two benches. and a VERY small room, so we had to see all of the other patients coming in as well while we waited anxiously to be seen by the doctor. Luckily our patient was admitted but calling back through the Crisis Response Center, I had to wait a LONG time for someone to be able to pick up. A few times I called I was not directed to the proper unit or the case manager. Another worker, a security guard, gave me his phone number and told me to call him. VERY inappropriate. And all of the security guard, intake med techs were staring at me, like hitting on me with their eyes. Terrible behavior, very unprofessional. Once our patient was in his unit- the older adult, I did feel that the staff, the med techs and nurses, were VERY NICE and caring. Luckily he is getting the care he needs. Overall this Hospital seems like it needs some funding. the landscaping is not being kept out with, floors are not being swept, the waiting room on the inside was very dirty, ants and crumbs on the floor dirty windows, chipped paint etc.. It was sad. I sure hope the hospital management takes these reviews into consideration.

Do not go here. When I arrived there was human fecal matter all over the place including in my room. There was mouse poop also in my bed. I was forced to take ice cold showers to stay clean which was a requirement for "caring for yourself". The staff is rude and uncouth. The food on the first day was covered in flies. They gave us all food poisoning, all of the patients had diarrhea about a week into our treatment. The staff there does not report physical altercations and does not treat people well. This place is a prison without bars. They are running a scam out of this facility to collect money and torture mentally ill patients. They should be punished and this should be treated as a crime. They kept some of my clothing, body care supplies, lunch pale, and one of the staff members gave his creditor my personal cellphone number and I am receiving harassing calls for Corey James on my phone. I was injected with something without my knowledge which should be on camera. I arrived with no tape on my arms and woke up with tape on my arms. They tried to convince me I was crazy and that I needed to stay. Please contact me if you were also subject to this gross negligence.
