Im officially rating this hospital in preparation for filing against it. Her name: Dr. Uma Damle who works in emergency care. She discriminates against patience. I spent 10 hours in the emergency room vomiting and with severe abdominal pain and nausea. Every other doctor who worked with me during the day was amazing and so were the Nurses (Dawn and Jamie). Doctor ( if you want to call her that) came in on the late night shift and within a few hours told more lies of any person I have ever seen. The doctor who proceeded her advised to admit me due to my condition, there was evidence in testing to suggest it as well. She decided to try to force feed me food to get me to vomit so she can check it or see if I can keep it down. Point: She was trying to rush me out of the hospital even though all other staff members were aware of my condition and went above and beyond to help me. She lied that there was nothing "treatable" when in reality there was evidence that suggested otherwise. The REAL reason was that the hospital was full which a staff member let me in on those details so I could have an arm missing and she didnt care, she was trying to not have to admit me so she didnt have to find a place for me and my symptoms or severity didnt matter. Finally (after stating that she would let the few tiny bits of food she made me eat digest and provide medicine) sneakingly went to the nurse to give him my discharge papers to me. He was even confused at my confusion because he wasnt expecting it. When I asked her about it, she was very condescending and disrespectful claiming she never told me all the stuff she told me and accused me of not being as sick as I was even though I was on a cot in the hallway for 10 hours in pain. Thats some dedication to fake a diagnosis. To add insult to injury she called Security to have me escorted out though I was not yelling, being argumentative, or violent in anyway. I told her that I cant find a ride at 3am and she said get a bus or taxi like everyone else. It was such a horrible experience and truly embarrassing. Im a very polite person and local business owner. I dont appreciate (it was definitely a race thing) being treated in such a disrespectful and discriminatory manner. I refused to sign any papers so that its on file for when I take further action. I was truly disappointed. I was actually born in Jefferson hospital. I expected more professionalism and never knew that they would discriminate against me based off my race. DONT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL! The beauty of God and the Universe is that while I was waiting for a ride I ran into a gentleman who had been treated the EXACT same way and was in the lobby trying to wake up a friend to pick him up. Im usually very easy-going but if I leave this alone, it gives permission for those who are "professionals" in medicine to continue to discriminate and euthanize people at their most vulnerable. Again, DR. UMA DAMLE!!!

ER was horrible. Brought my epileptic daughter in with a severe migraine and partial paralysis. She had a seizure in the waiting room and was promptly moved to a private room in the ER. That was good. The next 22 hours? No so much. The neurology team was excellent, which is why Im giving this 2 stars instead of 1. Jefferson Neurology is among the best in the region. But the ER itself seems chaotic and mis-managed. I felt like I was constantly nipping at the staffs heels to get them to do their jobs. At one point, my daughter was given a medication that prevented her from urinating, so she required a catheter. None of the nurses seemed interested in putting one in, so they just kept ignoring her pleas for help. They were pumping her full of saline but not helping her drain it. Uncomfortable much? My daughter was in tears. Then, no one offered her food. She was there for 22 hours, and I was told my "best bet" was to go out and bring her something back. What, no food service department? Really? All the staff ate. That they seem to leave the patients to fend for themselves is mind-blowing. In summary, while I would definitely see the Jefferson neurologists again, the Jefferson ER main campus has lost my business. There are better places to go in Philly for emergency care. I suggest you go to one of them. P.S. Parking is terrible and ridiculously expensive.

I was getting my prenatal care there throughout my pregnancy. I carried my twins to 33 weeks and 5 days gestation. I went into natural labor, baby A decided to break her water at 33 weeks and 3 days. When I went to the Hospital, I was suppose to have a vaginal delivery but they done an emergency c-section. I stayed from June 1st until the 7th, when the put me in my room after delivery, there was a mouse running around in my room. The day before my discharge date they had to switch me to another room. My twins had to stay in the ICN. The nurses are great, but the nurse practitioners and the doctors are very rude and ignorant! They have hung up on me twice. They take no consideration into the mothers religious beliefs, and they never call to let you know whats going on with your children. They were adding powdered formula to my babies breast milk with in turn caused one to develop acid reflux. And they stopped giving her my breast milk and they keep giving her artificial milk which I did not approve of! I really feel like my child is in jeopardy being in this facility and they refused to transfer her to another hospital!

March of 15 i came to the ER for bad stomach cramps. Very soon after checking in with the receptionist was i called into a bed-free room, but then it wasnt until id say 15-20 minutes (wish id timed it) later did a doctor finally see me. During that incredibly-long wait I did attempt to leave but the girl stopped me and told me to go back in, promising the doctor will see me soon (not that i blame her because i was still in pain at that point). I couldve died! But then the doctor who saw me said hed bring out my discharge papers and prescription after theyd taken my insurance info... which wouldve been another 15-20-minute, unacceptably-long wait had i not gotten impatient and walked out without my discharge papers or prescription. All he did basically was press my stomach in and said "oh, must be constipation-related" and sent me to insurance. Basically, i went home with the problem half unaddressed (it was bowel-related) and still in pain but luckily wasnt as much or this wouldve been a review with a lower rating. Still, these people need to step up their game.

My mother has been a patient her for the last nine months, she has had a few surgeries and the last one she recently had the device has failed. My father has been trying to get in contact with the surgeon office to get back in to have procedure redone for the last week. NO ONE will return his call, and the lady that answered the phone yesterday told him that there are other patients than his wife. I work in a doctors office and if I told someone that iwould be immediate dismissed from my job. This poor woman has had cancer in her throat had to lose her vocal box and trying to get an implant so she talk and resume what is now her "new normal" the fact that all we are asking is a phone call back from the doctor to figure out what the next step is apparently to much to ask for. I am highly disappointed in this facility. I hope that the next person in our shoes with this extremely difficult time in life gets better experience than we have had. Maybe with this review we will finally get a call back to show that you care about this poor woman.
