No star. I had to click on one or it would not post. They even force you to give them at least one!. I dont know about how they treat their patients, but if its anything like the way they treat family calling in to obtain information as simple as visiting procedures, where their loved one is so one can call him/her; then it is scary. Something as simple as asking to be transferred to the nurses station where the patient is so that you can speak with him/her is replied to in a rude, unfriendly manner. "I dont know you!" "Just come visit and find out what you need to know!" This is in response to asking if I can speak with the patient; after I was told prior to admission that I could just call and speak with him and I could call and ask any questions I had. Yeah, right! I sincerely hope they dont treat the patients the same way. The tone they use from the moment they answer the phone, how they cut you off before you can tell them the reason for your call and the rudeness when you tell them why you are calling (after being interrupted one hundred times) is appalling to say the least. I wonder if being nasty and rude is a requirement to work there? It must be, because I cannot believe the entire staff would be this rude unless it is mandatory by their job description.

Ive been hospitalized more then 15 times in NJ since I was a kid and in and out of jail since I was a kid too. I was committed in this place when I was 18-19 I am still haunted by it. Worst hospital EVER. Showers are worse then jail showers. Some of the staff are worse then correction officers. They steal food from patients, make up stories about them and nurses come drug people up for no reason. Barely get to talk to a doctor. Staff is always yelling, can barely sleep. I dread ever going back here...Def not hospital treatment. Ive been treated better in jail. I am probably permemtaly mentally scarred from this place. I was so hungry I used to steal food from other patients after seeing how easily the staff was doing it. The programs suck They make you wear their nasty Salvation Army type clothes with barcodes and your name attached like your some kind of herded animal. Your literally just a barcode number. Did I mention the staff steals food from the patients? Especially the fat black ones

This is the worse place to ever receive treatment in the state of New Jersey. TLU is the absolute worst building On the grounds. Staff are allowed to harass you and provoke you constantly and they most of the time theyre busy just calling the cops on you for being 5 minutes late to a destination. Ive been accused of so many things without ever have proof or reason just because a staff member didnt like me. Ive been falsely accused and degraded and basically told that "youre a patient, you have no constitutional rights"... worse place ever please avoid like the plague. Why do you think people come right back? There is no treatment to help those who really need and they linger people along who dont need to be there anymore. Trust me ask any person discharged from there. They dont even have to consider you dangerous as the statues provide under title 30 of new Jersey statues and they still hold you there without any sound or reason. This place needs to be reported.

Should be retitled Trenton Criminal Enterprises. The staff commit overwhelming many criminal acts against the patients and not only do they not get charged and go to jail, they get paid for it. This place is one of the most obscene examples of a disregard for human life. This abuse program should be shut down and everyone involved in this criminal enterprise should be sent to jail on life sentences, so that when they arrive in jail the coin is flipped and they get a taste of their own medicine.

This beautiful, historic, ledgendary, 167 year old psychiatric institution offers great scenery and a well knowledgeable staff. The people are friendly and welcoming and the buildings are well kept, And the beautiful abundant amount of land is very well maintained by upstanding workers. Great facility. But fix the front sign, looks a bit tacky, get Matt on that

The staff is rude. The patients are treated like criminals instead of people who need the love and support of society; and there is a correctional facilty within the campus. This place should be condemned, and shut down — if not demolished entirely. There needs to be an op-ed about how poor this facility is run.
