On November 12th and 14th of 2012 I visited a chiropractor, for the first time, in my current city of Conway, SC. The first visit provided some minor relief from a mid-back tension/discomfort. The second visit have resulted in a worsening of the initial condition and, additionally, I have started to experience a difficulty breathing. On the 15th I had to travel to Baltimore area and it was stressful to drive for 8 hours when your mid-back is aching and breathing is labored. By Friday I had enough and decided to see a chiropractor in the Timonium area, but only for a consultation. Chesapeake Chiropractic is the place I chose to go to and am very glad that I did! Dr. Bailes spent about an hour assessing my situation and her approach was very thorough. Afterwards, she performed a variety of tests and noted that the muscles around the middle back and especially on the right side were knotted pretty tight. Although I came only for a consultation, I felt very comfortable and confident to let her work on my spine. Interestingly, before doing any adjustments she worked away the spasms in the muscles using her elbows. She mentioned that she prefers to do some body work before doing any adjustments. That made a lot of sense! Why try balancing the spine if the muscles around it are all knotted up? After the spasms were worked away she proceeded to adjust the middle spine. The adjustment felt effortless. My upper back did not even move and all I felt was just a slight click in the middle spine. Immediately after the adjustment, my middle spine discomfort went away and, importantly, my labored breathing just disappeared. So, yes, chiropractic therapy can be very helpful. And, those of you who are thinking about visiting a chiropractor would do yourself well by seeing Dr. Bailes first.

I have gone to Dr. Karen Thomas at Chesapeake Chiropractic for three different ailments over the past 15 years. I wouldnt think of going anywhere else. My first set of treatments were for lower back pain, probably one of the most typical complaints for which people seek out chiropractors. Great care and attention were paid to my pain level and to curing my back issue. Treatments were frequent at first to begin the process of getting my back into shape. Later, fewer treatments were necessary -- I never felt I was asked to make more appointments than were necessary. 15 years later, I have no recurrence of that problem. The second time I came (earlier this year), I asked Dr. Thomas to help me reduce pain resulting from a torn meniscus until I could schedule surgery. I was able to function in my on-my-feet job for 5 months. Not only that -- since my leg muscles were able to function normally at a time when most people are hobbled by pain (often resulting in muscle weakness), I literally was able to walk the day of surgery; never needed to use my crutches. I cant guarantee this might be the case for everybody, but I am confident these treatment significant reduced my recovery time (theyd told me Id be out of work 2-6 weeks!). Chiropractors sometimes get a bad rap -- perhaps their discipline is thought to be inferior to more traditional treatments. I cant disagree more, especially in the case of Chesapeake Chiropractic. They are 100% caring, 100% professional, 100% honest, 100% capable.

My experience with Chesapeake Chiropractic began one day when I was in so much pain that I couldnt find relief in any position- standing, sitting, or walking. I had an appointment scheduled 2 days out, but I called from work one day in tears (due to severe lower back and sciatic pain) and they brought me in right away - at lunch time. I was so grateful for the fact that they saw me so quickly and for the relief that I soon experienced by following the recommended stretches at home. Soon afterwards I was able to get adjustments, and from there, the pain continued to improve. I also learned exercises to help with hip pain, as well as the importance of proper sleeping position to help minimize pain. Dr. Thomas and Dr. Bailes have been very helpful and friendly and I would highly recommend their services. Also, office hours are convenient and they are flexible with scheduling, and very prompt with appointment times.

There are doctors and there are healers and Dr. Thomas and Bailes are the best of both. At a co-workers urging, I discovered Chesapeake Chiropractic 15 years ago and have been seeing (primarily) Dr. Karen Thomas ever since. Im very active at the gym, work out regularly and run, and havent yet been able to mess up something that she couldnt fix. Over the years, Dr. Thomas (and Dr. Bailes) have treated me following over-training, falling on ice, and after auto accidents, as well as routine "maintenance." They have even taken on unusual things like an inflamed elbow - with excellent results, using their magical "cold laser" treatment. That treatment also reduced my recuperation time by half of anticipated, following a ruptured achilles tendon. Drs Thomas and Bailes really care about their patients and have always found appointments to accomodate my busy, working schedule. Go see them - you will feel SO much better!

I started going to Chesapeake Chiropractic a few months ago for frequent tension headaches (almost daily for at least 6 months) and sleeping trouble (waking up 2-4 times a night). After my first visit I slept soundly for the first time in months - literally. I didnt wake up once. After going for about 2 months, my headaches have pretty much disappeared (I get maybe one every few weeks) and I can sleep throughout the night, waking up refreshed. It is truly amazing! They best thing is that they work to get you as many visits as possible with your insurance and if you need to do a payment plan they will let you. You getting well is their primary concern. I was skeptical at first, but I feel like a brand new person. I highly recommend going here!

First of all I love that they have great hours, open during the evening and Saturdays is dedication. I switched to this practice and I am glad I did. The staff are welcoming and caring. The office is all about your overall experience. I enjoy the music and the information TV. Both Doctors work as a team and they make me laugh. I am so glad I found this practice and I am pleased with my progress. I love that parking is convenient too. Oh and when I was looking for a practice closer to where I live, BC/BS gave me their info. That is how I found the practice.

my back was so bad I could only walk 10 steps without feeling like I was going to pass out from the pain. I called here and they saw me the same day - on the Doctors lunch hour - the Doc spent the time to diagnose my problem (herniated disc) / took X Rays and treated me all in the same intake visit. Im on the mend (I can almost stand up straight) after only 3 visits. Great clinic with a caring team of Docs. If you have a back issue or are looking for someone to take the time to work with you to feel your best this is the place to go.

I have been seeing Dr. Bailes since the fall of 2013, both for active treatment and for maintenance care. I have been always been satisfied with my care at Chesapeake Chiropractic. Dr. Bailes is attentive and responsive to my questions and needs and provides strategies for me to use between visits to maintain my best health. I trust her guidance and have seen great progress since beginning my care here. I highly recommend this practice to anyone seeking chiropractic care!
