My 8 year old daughter has what might be a mole on the underside of her arm that appeared several months ago. We were initially told by her primary care physician that it was a blood blister so we didnt worry too much about it until she showed us what it looks like recently. Its larger than before and black. My husband and I are very scared and nervous about the look of this "mole" and like all parents, fear the worst and just need a professional to review it to give us some answers. When I called this office, they asked me what kind of insurance we had. I told them our primary is Blue Cross Blue Shield and my daughter has secondary insurance through MassHealth. I was immediately told they cant book an appointment for my daughter because they dont take MassHealth. I said thats fine, then just use Blue Cross Blue Shield only. They advised that because we have both, BCBS will try to bill MassHealth (which is news to me) so again, they said they cant help me and can not see my daughter. I worked in the health care industry so this may be something new but when a patient came in with primary and secondary insurance, and we didnt take the secondary insurance, we just billed the primary insurance carrier and billed the patient the balance (which is what I requested they do and again was told they cant do that). Im sure if I hadnt mentioned MassHealth at all in the initial conversation and only told them about our primary insurance with BCBS, my daughter would have an appointment and we would be one step closer to knowing what is growing on her skin.

I dont normally have time to review places but I feel like people need an accurate review of this office. I have a serious skin condition that needs to be monitored. This office was recommended by multiple health professionals so I finally made an appt. I was told to see Dr. Deb. However when I called I was told she was no longer accepting patients. So I booked with dr Sabina. Walking into the office felt like I was walking into a hair salon. I could tell that people might come in here for botox injections and not necessarily a serious skin condition. Everyone was very friendly (hence the two stars). When I spoke to the doctor she wanted to give me a super high powered steriod. I was hesitant to go that route because if the situation got any worse there was nothing else I could use after that. I was also told that I needed to use the steriods every day for the rest of my life. She offered a study about how long term steriod use helped prevent cancer. Although there is one study, there are many studies that show ill effects from long term topical steroid use. We emailed back and forth a couple times and I appreciated her taking the time however the last email I received seemed to disregard all the studies and info I had on the subject. I understand that it must be frustrating to have someone question your methods of treatment, but I believe that I should have a choice as to whether the treatment option is right for me. I didnt want to deal with all the side effects of the medication and I need a doctor who respects that decision.

I met Dr. Deborah Cummins when she was chief dermatological surgeon at Boston Medical. I was immediately impressed with her caring manner, her ability to hear and relate, and with her surgical skills. I learned that she had taken art courses as an undergraduate at Brown, and I could see her surgical art demonstrated, in a procedure removing a skin cancer, and later when she went into private practice. At my first appointment, I filled in all the forms including—and this was impressive—what I would like to be called by all in the practice. How refreshing and thoughtful! My only experience with the three physicians is with Deborah, but I have full confidence that Dr. Jordan and Dr. Sabina offer the care and comfort I’ve experienced from Dr. Deborah. I’ve recommended their practice to all I meet who are seeking dermatology. And this is from me, who shops carefully for health care.

I am eternally grateful for the work of Dr. Jordan Cummins and the entire team at Mass Dermatology! From my first appointment Dr. Jordan was patient, kind, and I knew he was genuinely was ready to work with me. My course of treatment ended up lasting 6 months, and every time I was in the office I had an excellent experience with the staff at the front desk, the technicians, and Dr. Cummins. He was always able to answer any questions, was incredibly understanding, and was most definitely knowledgable about the best course of action for me as an individual patient. Now that I am at the end of my treatment, I can say that I truly have no complaints, and am so relieved I chose to be a patient Massachusetts Dermatology.

My experience at MassDerm was wonderful. Their office is bright, clean, and comfortable and the staff is pleasant and professional. I did not have to sit and wait very long at all for my appointment to start. Dr. Bis was fantastic to deal with. She has a very calm and capable manner which set my mind at ease. She explains everything to you in detail during the examination so that you can make informed decisions regarding your health. The office was very prompt in getting back to me over the phone with results, which I appreciated.

Dr. Sabina Bis was amazing taking the time to really listen and do a through examination. I never looked forward to doctors appointments until I joined MassDerm 6 months ago. Dr. Cummins really takes the time to listen to what I have to say and determine my medical diagnosis. Even when Ive had to schedule emergency appointments, he treated me like I was the only patient in the building. The medical staff is friendly, kind and professional and I never have to wait long to be seen. I would highly recommend MassDerm to anyone who wants individualized care and attention with a personal touch.

I was previously treated by Dr Cummins in Cambridge, and was disappointed to learn he had moved. I then went through a couple of unfortunate dermatology visits (thanks ZocDoc!) before deciding to suck it up and drive up to see Dr Cummins in Beverly. I was not disappointed - he is one of the most forthright, personable, and thoughtful doctors I have visited. He gave me excellent (and accurate) diagnosis and care when other dermatologists did not. He has my wholehearted endorsement!

Today was my first visit to Mass Derm and I am very impressed and totally satisfied with the care I received. I only waited 10 days for an appointment and once I arrived I was seen by Dr. Garibyan before the time of my appointment. The staff were all very helpful and professional. Dr. Lilit Garibyan was wonderful! Im old - lots of spots - Dr. Garibyan explained everything including my care options. I appreciate her help and I would most definitely recommend Mass Derm.
