When I was referred to this doctor I had already expected to be sedated as my Primary Care Physician knew of my various phobias. He had already relayed the information to Dr. Al-Midani and it was agreed upon that I would be put to sleep before the procedure. The day of the procedure. I was put in a gown and given a few shots. I wasnt given an IV or the Saline solution and other key items which usually would say, "Youre going to be sedated." I waited for about and hour or so...and was extremely nervous and felt my phobia starting to kick in. I continuously asked the nurse, "I am going to be put to sleep right?" All she said was dont worry were going to make you as comfortable as possible. I continued to stress that I would like to be put to sleep and thats what the doctor and I had agreed upon. I also continuously stressed that I didnt want to be awake and would not like the procedure done if I was to be awake. The nurse made me sit and expect to be given a shot necessary as to not be aware of the procedure. The nurse put a bit in my mouth to keep my mouth open and told to relax. She gave me another shot and just told me to relax. I was in a sort of sedated state but was awake. It took about another hour for the doctor to walk in and the medicine to wear off a great deal. I told the nurse that I was to be put under and have the procedure done and that I would like to call off the procedure. The nurse told me to continue to lie down and relax. As I was getting ready to sit up the nurse held me down, the doctor shoved the tube down my throat. I had broke free from the nurse and pushed the doctor away and screamed "NO!" and she grabbed me again and put her weight on me to hold me down and told me to just relax and also to relax my throat as the doctor continue to push the tube down my throat. I was gagging, fighting and crying. He yanked the tube out of my throat, wrote a few notes and left the room. I was given nothing for my throat pain. I felt I should press charges but because of my various disabilities could not even make it to the precinct. But I did tell my Primary Physician and he took care of me and my pain and recommended me to another doctor and made it very clear to other doctor and reassured me of what I should do and come to him immediately if it happened again with anyone else. It was a very traumatizing experience and I will recommend this doctor to no one. His staff was terrible. Neither him nor the staff listened to me when it came to my needs and fears. The nurses were awful and rude and I felt I was taken advantage of. I was alone and was completely vulnerable. This should happen to no one. One person in his staff said, "I wouldnt blame you if you pressed charges. Do what you have to do." I never received the results from this procedure either. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR!!!!!

The 2 and 3 hours this doctor expects his patients to languish in his cramped waiting room (with not enough seating) is beyond arrogant, to me. My first visit, I was given the option of waiting for over 3 hours for him to arrive at his office (this was early afternoon), or going home and rescheduling. I opted to reschedule. When his office staff called to remind me of my appointment, I was told to expect at least a 2 hour wait. I was told that this is explained to patients when they make their first appointment; it wasnt explained to me, and I wish it had been so that I could have discussed this with my cardiologist (who referred me to this doctor) and we could have found another gastroenterologist that suited my circumstances better. When I tried to explain that the long wait conflicted with my husbands work schedule, his office staff member cut me off as if it wasnt important to her (nor him, is what I took from this). My experience with this doctor left me with a poor impression of him; he seems arrogant, as if his time is more important than his patients, and this without my ever having met him. I give this doctor and his office a very poor review, and hope I can find another gastroenterologist that will better consider and accommodate my households circumstances. Very disappointed.
