My dog Issac was my best friend in the world as well as the best dog ever.Dr.Frye and staff all loved him. When he was diagnosed with cancerous tumors, I knew I was going to do for Issac as much as I could and as much as Dr. Frye recommended.Issac had a few surgeries, all went well.He survived a year.Dr . Frye and I discussed amputation of Issacs leg but my boy was young enough .We then discussed removing all the tumors in his leg to give him a clean slate as the tumors grew rapidly and this summer would be his last.Surgery was going very well , better than Dr. Frye expected. He removed 9 tumors, there was only one left .Unfortunately the last one was very large and entwined in blood vessels. It was at this moment Dr. Frye called me at work and told me the situation. He said Issac would most likely bleed out if he removed it and if not Issacs recovery would be long and painful. I decided the best thing for Issac was to let him go. I sit here crying as I write this, it has only been 2 months since I lost him.I raced from work to be with him for his last moments.Dr. Frye brought me into the OR and there was my boy still sedated and comfortable.I scooped his head into my arms and softly sang you are my sunshine into his ear. Issac flinched at my voice , even though he was sedated. This broke my heart an I think it broke Dr. Fryes too.His eyes were full of tears and he had to remove himself from the OR for a moment. It was at that moment I truly realized how much Dr. Frye loves animals. He really cared for Issac and it hurt Dr. Frye too. I now have a new puppy and Dr. Frye is the only vet I will have.My pup came from the Humane Society with various illnesses and contagions.Dr.Frye knew what to do and Deacon is healthy and happy and getting big. I rescued my cat from a horrible rescue two years ago and he has overcome a variety of illnesses. He was seen by different vets for almost 2 years and none of them could get rid of the ear infection George the Cat had. Two years of e-coli in his ear.I took George to Dr. Frye , he looked at his previous treatments and test results and told me none of the treatments even had any medication in them , just ear washes and feel good stuff. Five weeks ago George the Cat was put on medication for his ears. I was told it will take a good while before it goes away. It is very hard to get rid of. Well hes going in for a follow-up this Saturday with Dr. Frye and Georges ears look GOOD . First time in two years that there is no gunk coming out , first time in two years George acts like he can hear , first time in two years George the Cat jumps in my lap as to say thank you and curls up and lies down. Thank you Dr. Frye and Stacy for if were not for the two of you and your strength on Issacs passing I would have never gotten through it.You are a blessing to all animals and humans who enter your world there at the Milan Area Animal Hospital.

Excellent, caring and compassionate staff and Dr. Frye is down to earth, real and passionate about animal care. It is now 12 months later and I still recommend Milan Area Animal Hospital. Ive been going there with my animals (dogs, house cats, barn cats) for over 8 years and would not consider going to another vet. In response to some of the negative comments below (by first time clients): It is noted that Dr. Frye is up front and doesnt "beat around the bush" or try to sugar coat information, which some people (listed on here) may find rude or abrasive, but I find refreshing. I like the facts up front without any sugar coating or hemming and hawing. And Dr. Frye is able to do this without being rude or cold. In fact he is very passionate and compassionate about animal care and in advocating for the animals best interest (have witnessed him tearful during/after a euthanasia). He has no qualms confronting an owner about their "wrongful" interaction with the animal (i.e. giving table scraps, over feeding, too many treats, inappropriate collar/harness, misinformed training techniques, etc.) and some people are offended by this, but he is right and his job is to advocate for the animal, not the owner. I myself have been lectured about giving too many treats, or putting something special in with my dogs food or using a standard collar and leash on a dog with a neck/shoulder injury rather than a harness that would put less stress on the neck. I was not offended (because I do not have a chip on my shoulder). Also, he and his staff have never manhandled any of my animals, some of whom have been difficult to work with. Im not saying that it did not happen with those who complained on here, just that I find it very hard to believe. Also, at least with me, he gives all options of care, including the least expensive option, and will even recommend the least expensive option when it is what is best for the animal (i.e. recommending euthanasia versus expensive surgery, although he would make more money doing the surgery). Lastly, it irritates me that people complain that the final bill is more expensive than the estimate. By definition, an estimate is just that, an estimate. Not a definite amount. Could be more. Could be less. "Estimate" via Websters Dictionary: " a : to judge tentatively or approximately the value, worth, or significance of; b : to determine roughly the size, extent, or nature of; c : to produce a statement of the approximate cost of." Note the use of the words "tentatively", "approximate" and "roughly." Plus, Im sure the staff notified you that it may be more or may be less, because I have been advised of such each and every time Ive received an "estimate," which has been MANY times.

Our first visit was pretty good, a usual check up and vaccinations. We walked out with an estimate for a neuter and micro chip. The day of our dogs appointment the vet tech gave us a completely different estimate that included some vaccinations that were not aforementioned. Whats the purpose of an estimate when it doesnt accurately reflect what youll pay? The vet tech also offended and insulted us by saying we needed "to be careful" about going to the Humane Society. Our previous dog got excellent care there and we euthanized him their at the end of his life, we didnt feel we were ready to go back there just yet. We chose Milan Area Animal Hospital and were rather disappointed. Furthermore, none of our previous vets ever said anything about being careful about taking our animals to Milan. We will be returning to the Humane Society and we know our pet will be cared for and we will be treated respectfully. I do want to add that the front desk staff at Milan was very nice and friendly.

I have many dogs and have always had a great relationship with my vet. This Milan animal hospital an Dr Frye was a complete joke and was not the kind of place you or I would ever return. Dr Frye was very unprofessional. Treated my 9 month old puppy like a piece of crap. When I told him that I wanted his to keep the shaven area to a minimum because I show my dog. He laughed said he was one of the best Boer Collies he ever saw but I had ruined him by lack of traing. He said my dog was aggressive and mean. He cornered him and they gave him many vaccinations and blood test. Well of course he is gonna not like you, you have the bed manors of nurse Rachett. He kept saying with every item....this is expensive but I do know... who says stuff like that. Who doesnt know what things cost. Fees were totally outrageous, $50 for shaving a 4 inch circle, serious 1 minute job. Over $500 for a Hotspot visit and check up visit. Do your self a favor use the other vet in town he is the best.
