Dont go to this place, if you have a sick pet. I brought my pet a day ago, and the vet looked at her, it seemed she didnt want to spend the time to find out what was wrong with her. Right off the bat, she suggested in putting her down. We asked how much the procedures were gonna cost to find out, and she told anywhere from $400 - $2000 for x-rays and blood work. We asked her to find out, so we can make a better decision, but she kept on suggesting putting her down. We reluctantly did, and to them our precious kitten was nothing more than a form and body. The vet left, a nurse came in to receive payment, another nurse came in twice with the wrong form. Finally after the third time she entered, had me sign the form. After I signed the form, she said, "Ok, Im gonna go ahead and take the body." The Body?! She was still alive!!!! After she took her from us and about to leave, she quickly turned around an asked, "Unless you guys still need more time?" I mean come on!!! After taking her away from us without even once saying her name, you have the gull to ask if we needed more time?! hen on top of that they ask if I want her in a box. Never once did the vet or nurse say they were sorry or show any compassion towards us or to my sweet little girl... This place has no sign of remorse, compassion, or consideration to owners who bring in their sick pets to have the vet to take any means neccessary to take care of your pets well being. Instead, I get, "Well, I dont know whats wrong with her, but my best bet is to put her to sleep." I will NEVER bring my pets here again! So pet parents beware of taking your sweet babies here.

I brought my sick cat here to figure out what was wrong with him. The ladies up front were nice and helpful, trying to help ALL the other people waiting. But having two people trying to check everyone in, check them out, answer the phones, and grab medicine from the back never works out for them. Somebody is always waiting FOREVER. Total I saw the vet for maybe ten minutes, i was there for two hours. In those ten minutes I found out my cat had diabetes and my two options are put him down or give him insulin. I was told exactly like that. No information, NOTHING. Needless to say, I went and found another vet and another hospital. Do your research people....I was stressed out and scared for my animal after talking to this "doctor" and after seeing my new vet, I am horrified that I ever came here.

In 2005 my basset hound had been seen by vets all her life. We moved to San Antonio and she got deathly ill. The folks at Alamo Dog and Cat hospital saved her life, not once but several time. She has Addisons diesease, I am sure she has had it all her life but they diagnosed her, treated her when she was critical, more than once and ensured I received the best care at the emergency vet hospital. They are nice friendly and loving folks and are honest. I recommend them to all my friends with pets. Every year on the anniverary of their incredible effots to say my baby girls life i try to find a way to honor them for their work! Great place, great people and my pet love going there.

I have been bringing my baby girl here for a few years and their customer service is always great (thanks Mona!) and the doctors are knowledgable and helpful...now, if I go on a Saturday morning its going to be busy (& a wait, of course), my Pekingese is very well mannered - so they never have a problem examining/treating her and when she was seriously injured the doctor gave me the facts and all my options in a professional manner (btw, it was a 2,000 specialist; put her to sleep, or meds/wait and see). The doctor supported our decision to treat with meds and thank God she got better. This place is really great :-)

We have been bringing our 3 dogs here since we moved to San Antonio. Theyre great with my dogs and always diagnos them properly the first time we go, so no need to return. The times Ive gone, Ive waited a while, but its never been unbearable. The longest Ive waited was about an hour. I wait outside with my dog, and we wait to be called. They always tell you what they think needs to be done to your pet and how much itll be first, before charging you. I do not go during peak times. Which you can check on your own what they are. Were happy there.

Poor I have been going to Alamo Dog and Cat for years they have seen 3 generations of my pets. I though they where the best untill recently. They infromed me that they no longer wish to see my animal out of the blue because they say they can not handle her. So much for caring and loving animals if they give up on one animal they can give up on your animal the same. And if they can not handle one animal how are they going to handle an animal that comes in with an urgent situation.

Too busy to provide quality service. While the staff seems like they genuinely care and want to provide good pet care, its a madhouse in there. The waiting room is full of anxious animals which, since youre going to be there for an hour or more waiting to get called, is likely going to stress your per our way too much before they even step foot inside. The staff seems overwhelmed with work and barely able to keep afloat. An appointment system would work far better.

My toy Aussie Shep Rishi decided to chew his back bloody and Dr. Dishinger treated him with such care. They shaved and cleaned him up, gave me meds and assisted with Flea options for around $180. That was 2 yrs ago in Dec and weve been going there since. I love that they are open later in the week and they have Saturday and Sunday hours. Everyone here is so friendly and appears to truly love animals. Im so glad I found this place for my Rishi!

We love Alamo Dog and Cat Hospital. I go every year my babies have puppies, need the annual vaccines or they arent feeling too hot. This animal clinic is awesome and the Puppy Package is amazing and saves you money... AND they give you complimentary puppy food, heart worm and flea prevention. just right there is like $30.. and another $35-$45 you save on a everyday doctor visit for your fur babies. GTLOVE Alamo Dog and Cat Hospital. :)

Overpriced. In addition to the normal charges they charge a fee to write a prescription so that youll fill it there instead of taking it elsewhere to fill cheaper. Refused to wrote a script at all for flea medicine for my dog after $280 worth of other services and exams, and their rate was over $20 more than competition for same product. Just a scam to keep you in house where they can charge way over cost. Go somewhere else.

Took our dog Madison in for treatment, she was diagnosed with parvo. She was treated right away and we were sent home with instructions and medications. Within two days Madison was already doing very well. We took her back a week later to get her started on all her shots. Thank you so much to the staff and the Vets.
