MY DOG IS DEAD BECAUSE OF A PROCEDURE THAT I DID NOT AUTHORIZE!!! I took my Chiweenie COCO to the VCA Mission Veterinary Hospital on Pleasanton Road Saturday, after the examination I was released with some meds and told she would be ok, Marisol Lazarte, the vet stated her diagnosis was a case of parasites/worms I even asked the vet if I should worry about it being fatal, she stated no and she would recover. I cared for her around the clock Saturday and Sunday and followed the doctors instructions, I was happy to see on Sunday she was no longer vomiting nor had diarrhea, I was ecstatic. I decided to board her on Monday to make certain she had round the clock care while I was at work. I dropped her off prior to coming to work, she was not acutely distress. I called at lunch as asked for an update, I was told someone one would return my call. AND SO IT BEGINS - I received a call from the vet stating that COCO was not able to stand on her own, depressed and had diarrhea I told her I did not understand why since she had been walking all over the house and drinking from her bowl and definitely had no diarrhea. She was never in any distress and was progressing. I received a call from a technician (Lorraine) stating the vet wanted to hospitalize Coco since she “thought” she may have Parvo and the cost would be $832.00, I asked to speak to the vet, she was not available and I asked for a return call. I received a call from the vet informing me of some very sad news; she went onto to tell me that Coco passed away while having an IV inserted. I went ballistic; I told her I never gave anyone any authorization to do any procedures, why was it done? SILENCE, but she did happen to tell me the Parvo test was negative, she went on to tell me she bled out. The vet is totally at fault for this incident, she did not have any authorization from me to proceed with any procedures, and in fact I told her I would pick up my dog at the end of day but now I cannot and even worse cannot have her cremated since they would not release the remains. There might be some type of reply from the clinic, but take it with a grain of salt since it will be nothing more than damage control. Marisol Lazarte you killed my dog, hope you can sleep at night

I took my Chocolate Lab, Hershey, into this vet after she developed some lower GI problems from eating a huge bag of tortillas (I still dont know how she got them). No appointment and no one acted put out or rude, even when my dog threw up in the exam room, Doc gave her some antinausea shots and sent us home stomach meds and antibiotics. 45 minutes after getting home it was obvious that Hershey was MUCH worse- she wouldnt eat. If you know labs, they never turn down food. I called and they gave me options for emergency clinics or the option to come back in. I brought her back and she ended up staying the night on IV fluids and antibiotics. I thought I was a tough guy, but I almost lost it when they took her to the back. The Doc answered all the questions I had, even if the answers were not what I wanted to here. I really appreciate that kind of upfront attitude. Nothing is more frustrating than someone blowing smoke up your butt just to avoid explaining a difficult answer. The techs called my cell with updates that evening and the next day, and even after I took her home (looking and feeling much better, she had lost 5 pounds in 4 days and she is only a 65 pound dog!) the Doc personally called me to check on how she was doing. I cant say that is was the cheapest vet visit we have had, but they were open and clear and answered all the questions I had about everything that was being done- and they could have just blown me off with generic answers. I was extremely stressed out because I love that stupid dog, and they were very accomodating the entire time. Lesson learned: put tortillas on a higher shelf.

Very sad experience. I wouldnt go back to that place ever. I took my 5 year old Rottweiler, Queen. I noticed she wasnt eating and didnt want to move. So the very next day I took her there. They were very nice with her, the girls in the front desk are super helpful, friendly and nice, the technician that worked with me and Queen, was super nice and professional as well, but she kept saying that she couldve been poisoned or had an infection because she used to have thicks (we live out the country) The Dr. Came to see her and checked her out and he mentioned it could be the infection.. He didnt sound to sure but I had no other choice but to trust him. They said she was dehydrated, but she didnt get fluids or anything. Not even a shot. They charged me $160.00. And gave her a treatment for two weeks. Just pills. She died two days later. ??? I called and tried to talk to the Dr. But they put the technician on the phone and she said she was probably poisoned (same story she said when I went) then they put me on hold so I could talk to the Dr, and he took forever... When he finally got to the phone, GUESS WHAT HE SAID?! Same poison story. I was very upset. Upset for my loss, upset because that sounded like they clearly missed something and just prescribed something just to prescribe. No tests were made. They just "supposed" something then when they messed up, they covered up with the POISON story. Nothing is gonna give me back my Queen. She deserved to have a right diagnosis. Definitely not what I would expect from an animal "hospital".

My kitten was treated very well considering how he freaked out on the veternarian. The cost I thought was fair at first until I looked at what I paid for. They threw in a 3 pack of tick and flea prevention, which I thought was very thoughtful; come to find they charged me $20 more for it then what I could have bought it in store for and I didnt really need it at the time. He didnt need to be treated for flea and tick until the end of the month and I have a schedule planned when was time to administer said treatment. Had it not been for my credulous heart for my kitten, I would have been more savvy when it came to cost. I went in with the idiotic mentality that Ill pay anything for my baby. Its sad that people would play on that for gain. However, The staff was kind, they gave me food for my kitten and toys, and the dionosis was spot on due to my attention to my kittens symptoms, my kitten is getting better and that is what matters. People need to realize that you are the first defense for your pets health. If you pay attention to their symptoms and any oddities you can help your vet treat them. Their job is to diagnose and give you medicine. You do the work. You nurse them back to health. They do surgery if needed. I respect their job and passion. Which had it not been for their treatment I would have gave them a 1 for cheating me but I love my kitten more than money.
