Since moving to Memphis in 1997, we have visited several veterinary clinics. Once we found Dr. Clay, we knew we had found the best vet and a kindred spirit. Each time she moved clinics, we moved with her. And when she opened her own clinic Utopia, we knew the drive from Germantown would be well worth the effort. Dr. Clay and her staff are extremely qualified to care for many different kinds of animals from dogs and cats to hamsters and turtles. One weekend after hours, she was very willing to view emailed photos of our hamster with a severe eye infection and call in medication to the pharmacy for immediate treatment, which I think saved its life. And once she even helped us reconstruct and glue an unfortunate turtles shell back together. They have all the latest technology to complete necessary tests and surgeries. Each examining room is complete with non-glaring lights to make pets feel more at ease, a computer for instant info and feedback, a settee for the pet owners comfort, and, my favorite, a scope that projects the images seen inside itchy dogs ears. During an examination, everything regarding my pets is done in my presence. Dr. Clay has been with us through happy times with new pets and through very sad times saying good-bye to furry members of the family. Rarely does one find a medical professional who is so intelligent and skilled in her field and who also has such sensitivity and compassion as Dr. Clay. You will not find a better vet and staff who will give your pets the best care in the world.

We were previous patients of Dr. Clay and were thrilled to become patients of Utopia. Having moved around during the past few years alot, Ive had experience with several different veterinarians and Jen is by far the best. Shes incredibly knowledgable about current literature in veterinary thearapeutics, and more than willing to share articles with you if you are interested. She is also incredibly easy to reach, frequently responding to email on weekends and nights. Ive never had a better relationship with a veterinarian. Utopias services are great (and reasonably priced), weve used their grooming, boarding, and day care services often. The technology in the clinic is also impressive - she takes digital (eco-friendly and less expensive) x-rays which can be emailed to you or anyone else consulting about your pets care. The Utopia staff is great too, flexible about working with you and incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Id like to totally disagree with the negative reviews from Sharon and Kathy. The Utopia staff and service are incredible and Id hate to have to take my dogs anywhere else.

My first experience with Dr. Jen at Utopia sold me on her and her veterinary office. My cat of 17 years that had moved everywhere with me during college and all of the back and forths was not acting like herself, so I brought her to Utopia based on a recommendation from a friend. It turns out my cats kidneys had failed and we did several things to make her more comfortable but eventually she passed on. I received an email from Dr. Jen herself expressing her condolences and then a few days later I received a sympathy card from Utopia with personalized messages from each and every staff member. I was blown away because I had only brought my cat maybe two times total in the span of four months. Needless to say this helped me get through the death of my cat and ever since that Dr. Jen became the vet I take my animals to. Shes very knowledgeable and very good at what she does. My favorite thing, however, is that she takes the time to talk to you and spend time with you which is not that common. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a good place to take their furry friends.

Utopia Animal Hospital goes above and beyond for my family. Dr. Jen is extremely intelligent and very caring. She always takes the time to explain things and takes the time to stay up to date on the latest treatment options. The practice is very computer savvy which makes my life so much easier. It’s great to have medical records available in an instant ready to be emailed wherever and whenever I need them. I also love knowing that I can reach out to Dr. Jen through email or text and get a very fast response. Dr. Jen also has an amazing support staff that really makes Utopia standout as a top tier provider. You can tell they really enjoy coming to work and I think that makes a big difference. Dr. Jen and her staff really get that our dogs are family and mean the world to us. For some background info…I have three dogs and use Dr. Jen as my primary Vet. I also board my dogs with Utopia when I am out of town. My dogs always come home clean and happy. They love seeing everyone at Utopia and taking them to the Vet is not a chore but a relaxing experience.

(Please read this before going to Utopia) I went in a month ago because my cat was limping & had cuts on his paws & one eye. The Dr. was snappy & acted like she didnt care but, she took my cat in the back. I asked the front desk what was going on & should I come back. She said, it was OK for me to go. 15 mins. later, I was driving down the street & she called me. I told her to call me back when Im not driving. When, I got home she called me again & told me it was just an animal attack & that she gave him a shot for infection, checked him for broken bones & was going to give me pills to give my cat for inflammation. I gave him his medication & he got worse, it has been a month & he cant walk, eat or use his litter box without me. Every time I try to pick him up or touch him he cries in pain. he still cant us his front paws. The vet charged me $159, it did help my cat & she acted like she didnt care. Dont waste your time with this animal hospital, she doesnt care & will lie to you. Please remember my cat & the pain hes going threw.

May not be the help you NEED with a SERIOUS pet issue... Being a scientist, I know that diagnoses as well as treatments are always a judgment call, but STILL-- NO, just NO... On three different occasions, I sought help with issues with three different dogs with diverse needs. Three strikes on judgment calls EXCEPT she did not SEEM to COMPLETELY botch the euthanasia of my elderly dog-- EXCEPT she did strike up a friendly, relaxed rapport as I agonized over whether he was still possibly suffering-- he was in a seizure of sorts while she calmly asked where we may have met before. The other two botches were similarly disturbing-- one so much that I dont care to relay the description. Hopefully, this is a sufficient review to help with making a better, more informed decision. Please. Dont go with cheaper, convenient, and personable when in URGENT NEED of informed medical assistance for your pet! If you want to chat it up with someone, find a community pet blog, if you NEED urgent, informed, and caring pet care, PLEASE look elsewhere!

I just went there today for my cat. After my experience I had to write a review because sometimes its hard to find a good vet. First things first, what most people care about is the price. They are very cheap compared to other places in Memphis. This is the fourth vet I have visited since living in this city and they were the cheapest by far. They also have 25% off for first time customers. Second, the staff was super friendly and mega cool. I was helped by Annie and Dr. Clay. Theyre both super helpful, nice people. Didnt try to oversell me on their service and tell me my cat was in mortal danger when he was just sick, and they even let me borrow a phone charger. The facility was by far the cleanest veterinarians office I have ever been in. I will most certainly be returning. 10/10, would recommend!
