My 84 year old dad was admitted to Quail Run Behavioral Health Center (Rose Garden Lane & 101) on July 5th 2017. I called Quail Run the following morning, July 6th, requesting information on his current status and was told he was eating and doing well. On Saturday, July 8th, 2017, my mom and I went to see dad during visitation hours that are 12:30pm-1:30pm. Before we were allowed to be escorted to the patient area, we were issued keys to a locker where we had to place ALL of our belongings (keys, cell phone, anything in a pocket, even my bottle of WATER). We were then lined up and subjected to a wand body search. After a maze of locked doors, accessed only by the employees ID card we arrived at dads room. We found dad unresponsive, looking comatose, and laying in his own urine! I was OUTRAGED!!!!! He was cold to the touch with a weak pulse and we couldnt even wake him! I immediately went to the nurses station to find out what the hell was going on. There was no immediate response to my request to his needing a clean up and new diaper! I demanded to know why he was in this state and why the diaper obviously hadnt been changed for SEVERAL HOURS! The response was that he was up all night and given a sedative at 1:00am and they didnt want to disturb him. They also said he had breakfast! He couldnt have possibly eaten breakfast in THAT CONDITION! His feet were cold and very red and swollen from the bottom of the calf to the end of his toes! There were two cuts behind his right ear. This is elder abuse, people! Dad was admitted there to be stabilized and evaluated! How do you evaluate someone that is given such a heavy dose of drugs that he cant even be awakened. There is no EXCUSE for this and I intend to take this complaint to the State of Arizona! Let me also state that the hours for visitation are very limited. Only one hour a day and not even on EVERY DAY of the week! You have to call and schedule your visit, no more than 2 people allowed per visit and NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED!!!! Now I know why!!!! I would have taken pictures of the neglect visible on my dad! DONT AGREE TO THEIR RULES AND REGULATIONS! DONT PLACE YOUR LOVED ONES IN THIS FACILITY!!!!

My daughter (age 15) was recently in this facility, at first glance it appears to be a nice building and well put together. After 5 hours of trying to get her paperwork done to get her admitted I noticed that this place definately does not have the help that is needed to keep it clean. Both my daughter and I killed insects crawling around on the floor in one of the "group rooms", dust and crumbs all over the tables and floors. I started to not have such a good feeling after such a long wait and the cleanliness of this place, but i thought it is late and i am in a bad mood because i have to admit my daughter into a behavioral ward and i wont get to see her for a while. The next day (friday)- I waited all morning to have the psychologist give me a call after she/he spoke to my daughter to give me her analysis and talk to me about how she thinks she should be treated. I had to call back twice before I got a return call back, and then this woman was extremely rude, cut me off and would not let me speak. We also found out that the tons of paperwork that I filled out was imput into the system incorrectly so they never called the right number. I was then told on the weekend that they would do a Monday assesment of how she did over the weekend - never got a call back. We never recieved valid information of why my daughter (although doing very well, stated by the psychologis & therapist) was still in the ward. The first bit of good information of what she did and how well she did or anything pertaining to her mental health was when we did the family meeting before she was released. Pretty much she was doped up the entire time and had her circle on a page of how she was feeling. I know there are steps for places like this that need to go through, but as a parent with a minor in a hospital you would like to know what is going on with your child! So as a parent DO NOT take the DRs word for what they diagnose your children at! Get a second opinion! We took her imediately to another psychologist because of the way we were treated there, and come to find out her new psychologist said she was missdiagnosed and should have never been on the medication they put her on.

My daughter was admitted to Quail Run from another facility. While the previous facility did very little to help her during her psychotic episode, Quail Run saved her life! Dr. Fermo provided outstanding care. He promptly assessed my daughters condition and prescribed the proper medications necessary to stabilize her. Additionally, the behavioral health techs (Michelle, Patricia, Manuel, Oliver, Fredney, and Erica) and the nurses (Cathy, Nancy, Sheryl, and Jennifer) were supportive and provided excellent daily care. My daughter felt safe and well cared-for during her stay. Her assigned case manager (Claudia) was excellent as well. She worked with my daughter to develop an outpatient follow up plan which addressed my daughters mental health needs. Everyone who worked with and/or cared for my daughter did so with compassion, understanding, and respect. I visited my daughter during the allotted visitation times and was impressed with the staff and the facility. The receptionist (Faith) was friendly and answered my questions about the visitation policies. I liked the beautiful Arizona landscape pictures in the lobby and hallways. The pictures added an element of tranquility to the facility. The lobby area and cafeteria (visitation area) were very clean. The visitation process ran smoothly each time I visited my daughter. During the visit, I was offered juice, water, coffee, or tea to drink (free of charge). When I visited my daughter on Christmas Day, I was offered bakery cookies in the lobby as a holiday treat. Overall, my daughter received excellent care at Quail Run. I highly recommend this facility for individuals in need of mental health care, especially those in crisis situations or having episodes. Thanks to the Quail Run staff, my daughter is doing much better.

Lice outbreak last week and they refused to treat the bedding and take care of it in a professional way they said it cost too much. A week later still has lice!! Hospital also started taking in homeless people who do not want to leave and because they are covered by state health care the hospital keeps them around as steady cash flow instead of actually rehabilitating them. Staff are used and abused. Rarely is there enough staff to even cover their own breaks let alone take a lunch and still have enough staff to watch the rest of the floor. Its clear that this hospital does not care about its employees or the patients only to make a money off other peoples struggles. The direct contact staff however are friendly, loving and caring and they do their job because the want to help despite the treatment they get being understaffed and underpaid. They make things look good for their state inspections but immediately chance their ways when the inspections are over.
