I worked at this hospital as a traveling surgical technician and it was by far the worst experience Ive had at a healthcare facility. This company is not the ivory tower it tries to promote itself as. They were completely unprofessional and disorganized. Most of the time the staff didnt even know what surgery they were doing until the patient was put to sleep. Even then sometimes did the nurses and even their team leads have question marks on their heads. The surgicount system was misused so much that it actually did more harm than good to the patient. Again in my orientation time the videos show a completely different O.R than what I was exposed to. The management was completely two faced, they were practically kissing my butt until I told them that I had no plans on extending because I just wanted to travel. Then it became a nightmare of being thrown from specialty to specialty, they even put me in sterile processing a few times. Complete lack of respect for their traveling personnel. Hell it almost took a month for my manager to even know who I was. When I was hired on I was told I was to be doing Orthopaedics and Neuro surgeries and she had me in every other specialty except those two. Finally they just abruptly fired me do to "excessive absences" even though I never went over the maximum they told me I was allowed to have. Their claim was that my absences were too many too soon, but Im chalking it up to once again once they knew I wasnt sticking around they really wanted nothing to do with me. They then even took it a step further and said God only knows what to my staffing agency and got them to let me go as well. When I questioned my agent she just said that she was sorry to inform me that she couldnt work with me anymore and good luck. It was absolutely unbelievable, I uprooted my life traveled 1000 miles across the country just to be left high and dry with a "good luck". Mayo then took it even farther when it came to my final paycheck they lied to the agency telling them I didnt work the hours I wrote on my timesheet for my final day. Its unbelievable; I know, but I swear to you that everything I have typed is 100% factual and am seriously trying to spread the word that this company is not as great as everyone in this area thinks it is. When I would ask the other employees why they worked there all of the answers were pretty much the same. It was either they really didnt have any other options or that the insurance was good. Which is why most of the employees looked like lifeless zombies that hated their lives. Every time I would great someone into the halls they would even look at me. Worst experience ever!

Last night I had a shockingly disturbing experience at this hospital that bothered me a great deal. My 96 yr old grandfather was coughing up blood, so the Dr here in the Verde Valley told us to take him to the ER at Mayo. After driving almost 2 hours to get there we arrived and were seated waiting for my grandfather to be called. During this time they discharged a woman into the waiting area who was quite ill. They placed her in the room with the rest of us in a wheelchair with vomit bag in hand. SERIOUSLY! She proceeded to wretch, heave, and loudly vomit for a good 30 minutes. The staff came over once to replace her vomit bag but did NOTHING else to isolate her or protect the rest of us sitting in the waiting room inhaling her airborne pathogens. Can you imagine how she must have felt? Feeling like crap, being that sick, and having to puke all over the place in front of complete strangers while getting no help from medical professionals. At one point at staff member came over to assist her in calling a cab. OH YES! Mayo wanted to send her off in a cab just vomiting away. During this time the staff member was unfamiliar with how to arrange her cab ride and she was trying to explain to him (in between wretches) that it had to go through AHCCCS (medicaid). I cant help but wonder if her experience varies so widely from most of the reviews here because she was poor. The lady continued to complain that she didnt think she should be sent home because she was still very sick and in a lot of pain. The only response she received was an uncaring "Well its your right to ask to be taken in again." So what did they do? They wheeled her over in front of entry doors and left her there to vomit away for another 30 minutes or so before they brought her back into the ER again. Even once they did, out in the waiting room we could still hear her vomiting, moaning and begging for help. Honestly, Im kind of ashamed with myself for keeping my mouth shut through this whole experience. That lady needed someone to look out for her and had no one. I should have stepped up and lambasted the staff for the way she was being treated. I feel really terrible that I sat there and did nothing to help her. If Im ever in a similar circumstance again, I will definitely take some action. I dont know what became of her, but I do know this.... They sent home a 96 year old man coughing up blood. Clearly theres a whole lot of care and concern going on in this place.....

Supposedly, your facility is the best for cancer patients and you probably are. But, Im very upset with your facility. All your facility really cares about is money!! We originally loved the facility and the people that work there. But, when my mom on her third face bone cancer and actually only about a few years from her previous two, she was now 69. I didnt want her to go through it again. But, your clinic built her up with all these great expectations. So, she basically went through hell again. Had to have gums cut and nose cut again. The radiation was horrible. They would lock her head down with this horror movie mask and do the radiation. She did regroup for a few months. She went to the movies and some outings and was able to eat some foods. So, now she is still alive barely. What is taking her down was the Mayo promised they could fix a lot of her issues and now the last time she was there they now tell her there is no more they can do. Now, she is just waiting to die. She wont leave her house because half the nose has now fallen off and she cant eat because of the teeth and her throats closing up. I just want to say SHAME ON YOU MAYO CLINIC for giving someone false hope to make money... You do not care about cancer patients. You are just another Corporate Company making a dollar at any expense of people and their families!! If you would like to reach out to me, please let me know and I will provided a phone number or email address.

Extremely bad experience..my 5 month old son had a fever of 102, I gave him Tylenol and took him to their emergency room..when they took his temperature it seemed normal but still they decided to poke and prod him.. they tried to take a urine sample using catheter which was awful because the nurse doing it had no clue what he was doing..he did the same thing with blood sample and poked my baby 3 times without successfully drawing blood..then they decided to get an X-ray and the X-ray tech had no idea how to handle such a small baby so he made my baby cry some more.. after all this they wanted to take urine sample again using a catheter and this time the doctor checked his bladder and made sure there was urine but the stupid nurse was still not able to get it..i had to watch all this in horror as my baby kept yelling in pain looking at me helplessly..finally they put a bag on him to get a urine sample.not sure why they couldnt do that after the first failed attempt..after all this they discharged him without prescribing any antibiotics..overall it was an extremely traumatic experience..i just cant get the image of my baby crying helplessly and looking at me while 3-4 people held him down out my head
