Well, I feel like a bit of a jerk writing this, but I based my cats visit partially on these reviews, and I had a vastly different experience. My 12 y.o. cat (Crazy, named by a 4 y.o.) was suddenly very ill; he was vomiting repeatedly, somewhat bloody, along with diarrhea, drooling, and complete lethargy. I was a vet tech ages ago, and to me, he looked like hed been poisoned. I brought him in right away. His temp and heart rate were taken immediately, then a sub vet, Dr. Haddy, came in. Everything was fine up until this point. We decided on blood work and Sub Q fluids, so Jorge came in to take him to the back. I informed Jorge that my cat is a fighter when it comes to needles, and advised him to hold him securely. He acknowledged the information, and I, feeling somewhat uneasy, asked if I could accompany him to the back. In the back room, I stood behind Jorge as he secured Crazy, and Margaret tried to draw blood. Crazy began to struggle, and I stepped forward a foot. Much to my dismay, Jorge was not holding him securely - he was not scruffed, only held by the upper foreleg and rear haunch. This is not standard protocol anywhere when the animal is known to be resistant. A second later, my cat leapt out of Jorges grasp, Margaret lost the vein (not her fault) and I jumped forward and caught him as he jumped off the table. By this point Crazy was panting, terrified, and in complete distress. Not enough blood had been drawn to run the full panels I wanted, and my cat risked injury (dislocation from struggling, jumping, or injury from the needle). Although somewhat needless to say, I was pretty upset. The results of the testing Addison ran showed hyperthyroid, an incidental finding, and not the cause of the acute condition. I ended up bringing him into BluePearl in Elk Grove (excellent care), three times over the course of the next week, and having all the tests run again. We spent over a thousand all told, and as of today, my cat is finally eating and drinking again. The final diagnosis was acute poisoning, of unknown origin. (we are a green home, so our best guess is a poisoned mouse, bird, etc., came in to die and he ate it). On Friday, Dr. Stocks called me to "see how the cat was doing" - he had received a fax from BluePearl and wanted to offer "supportive care." Crazy was still not eating and drinking at that point, and I informed the Dr. of this. He said it sounded like more than hyperthyroid. ......wow. I said, yes, obviously, he was brought in for suspected poisoning. Dr. Stocks sounded somewhat surprised, and I was completely disheartened. While I think Dr Stocks is a perfectly nice man, I cannot recommend this animal hospital. I did bring up Jorges handling, and the Dr did not disagree with it. I also spoke with every tech, assistant, and Dr at BluePearl, every one of them thought not scruffing for a blood draw was ludicrous. So, here we are. Nice people, I guess, but I sure wouldnt entrust them with MY animals again. edit: I never saw the Dr.s response. I most certainly did not bump into Jorge. The only point I made physical contact with him was when he lost control of my cat. As I said, Im a former vet tech, I know better than to "bump into" anyone handling any animal. Ridiculous. As to the poisoning - wasnt discussed???? Are we for real?! It was discussed on the phone before I came in, and EXTENSIVELY in the office. We talked about suspected routes, the plants in the home, cleaning products he could have come into contact with, everything. Just, ugh. Avoid this place.

I just wanted to say I moved back in the neighborhood recently, my dog was acting very strange, I called the office and expressed my concern. The office manager or so she should be, got me in right away. Everyone there took the time to show concern about my 14 year old dog, Joey! Waiting for the we need to take all these tests and charge you a 1000bucks never came. The vet was awesome, he was concerned, asked all the right questions. He made me feel safe regarding my dogs condition. He made me go home with my Joey and said if he doesnt improve then let me know and well do bloodwork and xrays. Well thanks to this vet and his crew, Joey is acting like a nut again, and it is as though nothing ever went wrong. I highly recommend this vet.

One of the best places to take your animal. These people truly care about your pets. Our cat Garfield is actually there now with a urinary blockage. I was troubled to read the poor review on here, especially when it came to Jorge. We have dealt with Jorge on numerous occasions and he is one of the best animal caretakers I have seen. We are in the process of trying to sell our house and move to Elgin. It will be difficult to go here for emergencies, but I think the half an hour commute is worth it to know my animals will be treated properly. Keep up the great work!

My dogs will never go anywhere else!!! I have been going to Addison Animal Hospital for over 15 years. I now have 3 dogs and run a Dog Sitting Business from my home and have referred all my customers to them and I always get a thank you they are wonderful!! AAH cares about your pet not about making the $$ and they are a small facility which means you dont get lost or pushed back because they have over booked... 4 Wet Paws, Jetta, Dallas and Shadow will always be grateful to the attention and love we get as soon as we walk in the door.

wow! ive never been to a nicer vets office! everyone was so nice and you could really tell that everyone there really loves animals and treats each one like their own pet. the doctor was very knowledgeable and caring. also, i didnt feel like i was being judged for having a sick pet. ive gone to vets that treat you like a criminal for having a sick pet, whether its the owners fault or not. he made us both feel very much at ease and answered all my questions. im going to bring the whole fur family here from now on!

They were not good with my medium size dog. Maybe they are ok with other animals but I wouldnt recommend taking a medium sized dog. The staff doesnt know how to handle bigger dogs. The biggest problem is they are over priced and they quoted me one price over phone and when I went to pay they increased the price. So fyi- get a quote in writing!

This office has been so nice and helpful. I have 4 full time pets as well as foster pets and the people here have been wonderful, they obviously care about the animals they are treating and work with you as the pet parent to get scheduled or assist with paperwork and make sure that everyone is well looked after.

Doctor Stocks is a great doctor. My 15 year old bichon had a congestive heart failure and they kept her under supervision for a 4 hours gave her a bunch of medication hooked her up to an oxygen machine and the next day she has already vastly improved.
