I wish I could give a lower then 1 star. My experience was HOFFIFYING. On the 4th of July my 3 month old puppy, Bella, was attacked by another dog. We rushed her to Premier Vet Hospital in Crestwood. We were told to follow up with our regular vet 2 weeks after but to call the vet ahead for Bellas Rx to be filled. Our Doctor, Dr.Schultz, was now working at Midwest because Alsip closed. I called Midwest. I told them which prescriptions she was on and then I was told that the Rxs could be filled there when we came in and that Dr.Schultz would be there at the date and time I said I was coming (they do not take appointments). I come into the office and handed the receptionist Bellas x-rays and her visit note from the hospital. She scanned it in and told me to have a seat. The doctor calls us in and immediately runs up to Bella and squeezes her face. Bella squeals and run away into the corner of the room. She vet asked why. I WAS ASTONISHED. Bella has two broken bones in he face. Her face is swollen and she is in a neck brace. This "doctor" DID NOT look at the x-rays we brought, DID NOT read the notes we brought, DID NOT seem to notice the swelling, DID NOT notice the neck brace but instead thought FOR SOME REASON it was a good idea to touch my dogs face. I became SO UPSET. This was NOT the doctor I asked for. I was told the doctor I wanted was not in that day. Then they took Bella for x-rays. I asked if they needed me to come with, I was told no. When they brought her back to me she was SHAKING uncontrollably and she was covered in urine. I have never seen her shake this bad, even after she was attacked. I asked what had happened and I was told BY THE DOCTOR that she had been dropped. I was so angry I couldnt even explain it. When we FINALLY left we received two Rx. When we got home we realized that we never received Tramadol, her pain medicine. I called and was treated so badly that I am now going to a different vet. I called Midwest once more that day and requested Bellas records be faxed over to me. It 3 phone calls before someone faxed them. The manager on the phone apologized for the inconvenience. When I received Bellas notes from her visit it had almost everything wrong! It said she was attacked by a female dog who lived in the house with her. It was a male dog who was walking by. It also said she weighs 64 pounds, she weighs 25.6 pounds. At this point I am worried the medication we received is for a dog more than twice her size. I call and picked up the, what I though was pain medicine. Later that day, I pick the Rx up and had the manager fill out the referral for the new place. The doctor comes up to me and DOES NOT even apologize. I leave and get home only to find out the medicine they gave me is THE SAME EXACT MEDICINE I already have. I call and speak to the manager again who tells me "there is no proof of her being dropped" I told her of course the doctor we saw wouldnt tell you that. She then told me "I am being dramatic." I was SO angry I asked for a refund of my visit. After 10 minutes of arguing with the manager, she implied that it was my fault. She gave me a refund of $115/$425. I did not even want to talk to her anyone. I said thank you and hung up. I am now being seen at a new vet, who take their jobs seriously and care about the animals. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR PETS!!!!!!!!

I have been bringing my dog here since she I got her, my mom and brother both the same with their dogs. I used to love them but now I will NEVER bring another pet there again! My mom brought her 6 year old dog in because he was having issues walking, his back legs were bothering him, he was not using the stairs and would not eat. When she got to the vet they took him in for about $1000 worth of tests to come back and tell her that there was a mass around his heart and that they could not do anything else till Monday when they had someone come in with a bigger ultrasound machine. They also said he was having a hard time walking because he was dehydrated and that was it. They kept him for a few hours then told her that is she came back and got him to eat something they would release him to go home and he can come back Monday for the test. My mom left Midwest and came directly to my house. She thought maybe it would cheer him up to be around us and our dog. When she got here we could immediately see there was something wrong with his back legs, he was so sad looking and kept wandering off by himself and staring at us. We made up a comfy place for him to lay and got him to take the a dose of the pills they sent my mom home with. We woke up to my mom crying in the morning, he couldnt get up at all. My husband was trying to help him up and get him to go outside and he was paralyzed from what seemed like the waste down. We got him in the car and rushed him back to Midwest. They told us now, that it probably has something to do with his spine and he could have a hernia, that there was nothing they could do and we had to bring him to an emergency clinic. We left there and heading right to Aurora to the ER clinic. We come to find out once there that there was NOTHING ever wrong with his heart, they did the test incorrect and read it incorrect, there was NO mass and that is was his disks that ruptured in his spine. My mom did the surgery with less than 50% of him walking again and even though he made it out of that ok 2 days later his lungs started to collapse and we had to put him down. When we called Midwest they said that they were not at any fault and the lady was VERY rude! We had to fight with them to get a refund for the ultrasound that my mom had already paid for that was suppose to take place on Monday. (A test that not only did we not done but was never needed) I would strongly suggest if you r pet has any issue to NOT take them to Midwest. It maybe convenient but its not worth your pets life if they dont want to take the time to do the test correctly!

I am a breeder. I go to my vet about once every other month for one thing or another. I consider myself a regular. However, I have had very inconsistent experiences at Midwest. I love them at one visit, and then really get frustrated at the next. Sometimes it is really fast, and sometimes you have to wait - which I am ok with, I understand there are times where they are busier than others. Pricing is very good, and there are no surprises. I do hate that you just dont know who you will get for a vet, and have had a hard time wrapping my head around that. I typically have built relationships with vets wherever I have lived before here. I have had fairly consistent good experiences overall - until recently. I took my dog who was 28-30 days (hopefully) pregnant for a confirmatory ultrasound. The vet was Dr. Jung. I had not seen her prior to this day. They did allow me to come into the exam to watch the ultrasound , help hold my girl, comfort her and see she was not stressing out, and that was great! I did not love that the techs so callously picked her up by her (pregnant!) belly and turned her over onto a flat table to hold her. Most US procedures have a "taco" style pad which is very comfortable for the dog. Midwest is not equipped with this for a large dog...yet they should be! Dr. Jung shaved her tummy a bit to maneuver the wand around her belly. We saw one...then nothing for a bit longer, then probably another...or was that the same one? Who knows! said Dr. Jung. To say I was dishearted to see only one or two puppies was an understatement. We left after about 20 minutes of US and seeing 1, possibly 2 puppies. I informed everyone waiting for a puppy that we were having a small litter. Sent other breeder names to my families. Well, I am thrilled to say that we had 10 puppies! Dr. Jung was clearly not in the right area of her body to see the little nuggets developing...she should not be doing this procedure unsupervised until she can perform it and do it well. Every dog is one from which to learn and I hope Dr. Jung can expand her search during the US procedure in larger dogs. I made some decisions based on the fact that we were expecting a small litter, and now, I regret passing off some really awesome puppy homes which I would have loved for MY puppies!
