To all dog owners out there...if your loving dog has back or leg issue bring to a specialist who specialized in back surgery instead of this FPH. We brought our baby Ben to this FPH at 9am on 5/28 in tears because he couldnt move one of his back leg. The manager there told us since I dont have an appointment they would charge me double for emergency visit fee ($98 for emergency office visit fee, total bill is $1500). I said fine. Dr Wooley suggested xray and his treatments including the "new laser treatment" that they now have since Ben has IVDD degenerated disc. My Ben had to stay there over night. I kept reading so many articles online on IVDD. The more i read the more i got worried because they all said only way to treat IVDD is surgery and must be within 24hours or else dog would paralyzed permanently. At 8:30 am on 5/29 I talked with South Texas Specialist at VREC about Bens situation. They told me to bring Ben in asap. At 11:45am on 5/29 I called Dr. Wooley at FPH to check on Ben and he said Ben got worse. When I got there to pick up Ben for surgery I found Ben got 3 legs and tail paralyzed cannot wag any more. I was shocked and wondered what they did to my dog. We left Ben at their FPH over night with only 1 leg disabled and within 36hours later we got him back with 3 paralyzed legs and disabled tail!!!!!! FPH charged me total of almost $1500. I paid...then we rushed Ben over to surgeon. Surgeon took MRI and operated on Ben right away. After surgery he told us Ben got acute bruises along his spinal structute and a ruptured disc that got ruptured within the last 24hours. We were shocked because Ben was at FPH within the last 36hours before we had him over here for surgery. We wondered what FPH did to our loving Ben. We brought Ben in with one leg problem and got him out with 3 legs and tail paralyzed and $1500 bill.. OMG!!! I wonder if any of staff at FPH tried to stand him up on his back feet or drop him or their new laser treatment rupture his disc. I am still crying every time I look at my poor baby Ben for my mistake taking him to FPH first instead of going directly to a specialist. One more thing that I dont understand is when I took Ben out of FPH they gave him a bottle of "promote eating" and charged me knowing that I was taking Ben in for a surgery at specialist VREC. What am i supposed to do with "promote eating" bottle while Ben been on post surgical medication for 15days. Anyway ...He is recovering after surgery. It has been 11days since surgery at VREC. His Legs started to move again and tail started to flip up and down little bit although it has been only 10days after surgery. So pet owners ..if you love your pets, dont want your pet get hurt any more than he already is and want to save money go see a specialist instead or else you will have 2 sets of bills.

READ MY REVIEW BEFORE GOING TO THIS VET OFFICE!!!!!! First, the first person you deal with when calling the office is unfriendly, unenthusiastic and hasmajor attitude!!! Her name is Amber and she is unfriendly, never smiles, is unenthusiastic about helping someone and often comes off rude or smart alec. Then there is what I consider the worst part of your practice and the is the GROOMER Michael. He is utterly rude, disrespectful, disinterested, and DOES NOT LISTEN TO HOW ONE WANTS THEIR PET GROOMED!!! He was this way several months ago when we brought our dog in for grooming. I thought he just might be having a bad day so gave him another try and he was even worse this time!!! He is supposed to be some certified groomer, then why are my dogs back of ears burned they are shaved so short. The bottom of my dog was raw with razor burn and the pink skin showing through the hair was cut down so short. I asked for a Summer cut and asked for extra hair to be left on the face, head, and tail and all three areas were mowed down so close to the skin, the dog has been scratching and biting her body parts since we came home. I have had to apply a topical medicated cream with pain reliever to settle her down. Besides his not listening to a word I said with regard to the cut, he is always rushed, impatient, unfriendly, disinterested, and just flat out rude. The man just doesnt fit with the calibre of service one expects from a Stone Oak/Sonterra Vet Hospital and obviously does not fit well when dealing with pet owners who are paying a premium for veterinary care for their pets and are used to be treated with respect. If changes arent made in these two areas of customer service, our family is taking our business elsewhere.

I am honestly shocked by some of the negative reviews for Family Pet Hospital. I guess only disgruntled customers take the time to write reviews, so I want to share my experience. FPH treated my two dogs for 6 years before we relocated to Dallas in 2008. Since moving, I have tried several different vets and none come close to Dr Woolley and his staff! Dr Woolleys examinations were always so thorough. Most importantly, I never felt rushed during a visit; he would spend as much time as necessary to make sure I completely understood every concern and treatment. If your animals are members of the family and you want the BEST care, this is definitely the place! FPH might be a tad bit more expensive, (and it is honestly only a tad), but is well worth the peace of mind that comes from giving your animals the best care possible, from a loving staff, in clean facilities with up-to-date technology. In my search for a new vet, I have found that when vets are less expensive, it is because they leave out vital procedures such as pre-surgery blood testing, pain medication, x-rays, full sedation, and complete blood/urine/tissue analysis. When it comes to providing medical care for my best friend, I do NOT want a vet that cuts corners! Dr Woolley and staff- Thank you for all the wonderful care you gave us! Copper & Murphy miss you all tons! (And to assure potential clients that that I am not a fake/planted review, I am happy to sign my name- Angela Cass.)

I have been bringing my pets here for about 9mo and have been satisfied with the service, so I made them our vet clinic. Today (Friday), I arrived at 6:07pm (they close at 7), with my 4lb yorkie who has a red abscess on her spay incision that is oozing. I showed it to the receptionist and asked if a vet can look at it. I was told that the veterinarians are busy and will not be able to see her until Monday. (Again... I didnt call. We were physically there). I asked if there was anywhere else she could suggest. She recommended an afterhours clinic, but she heard they had bad reviews. I understand that clinics do get busy. And although there was only one other person in the lobby, they may have had patients in the back. But, when I moved to SA, I was looking for a vet clinic that would care about my pets. We have been there for checkups & shots. But this was my first time actually NEEDING them, and they turned us away an hour before close. Wouldnt even glance at the possibility of an infection. What sets them aside from any other vet clinic? I now know it is not their eagerness and willingness to care for my pet. I guess my $50-70 for the visit wasnt enough money for them to risk the possibility of staying later, even if it meant my dog would be ok. They turned us away like my dog didnt matter. And we were faithful customers (I thought that would mean something).
