I took my son into the StoneSpring Emergency Center on Sunday evening, May 3, for what I believed to be a really high temperature. My son had been running a 101-102 degree fever since that Friday but it had spiked to over 103. I suspected the temp to be inaccurate, as it continued to jump between 103 and 105. He also appeared to be okay and was acting fine, but for peace of mind I decided to take him to this new facility. The first impression was great. We were the only ones there, and my son was sent back before I was able to even get him signed in. The nursing staff was extremely friendly and responsive. They confirmed that my temperature scanner was in fact inaccurate, and explained that forehead scanners can give wildly varying results once above 102-103 degrees. Good to know (I did also use an ear scanner after getting the crazy results from the forehead scanner. The ear scanner gave much more reasonable readings, but again, 105 scared me so wanted the peace of mind). The staff advised to give him ibuprofen and/or Tylenol (which I already had done at home), gave him a popsicle, and recommended a strep test. Dr. Paganussi stopped in for a few minutes and explained the same thing and did the strep test. Again, very friendly, responsive, and helpful. We waited around for a few minutes for the preliminary strep test (which came back negative), and we were on our way in probably less than 30-40 minutes. I was very impressed and pleased with my service. Here’s where it goes bad. Two bills were sent to my insurance company. First, from the facility for “emergency services” for $1746.25. Second, from Dr. Paganussi for $450.00. I understand Stone Springs is considered an “emergency room” facility, but almost $2200 for probably less than 10 minutes of actual time spent with my son, a strep test, and a popsicle? Luckily my insurance company covered $776 of the charges (and disallowing a large chunk), but that still translated to almost $360 out of pocket. I have been to urgent care facilities and emergency rooms in the recent past for X-rays, stitches, and steroids (really bad reactions to poison ivy), and have never paid nearly this amount for those much more extensive services. The CVS MinuteClinic across the street from StoneSpring only charged my wife $33 for her strep test a few months prior, a very far cry from $2200. Long story short, despite being very impressed with the staff and facility, unless unknowingly brought there while unconscious, I will never visit this place again. I will also be looking for other reasonable alternatives soon so when/if a family member really does need medical attention, I’m not forced to hesitate while I check my account balances first.

We took our very badly dehydrated and lethargic 4 year old who was sick with the flu. My son was seen at a medical center in ashburn earlier that day but due to that Doctors bad decisions he ended up taking a turn for the worse later in the evening. We had to rush him to the closest Emergency Center and it was Stone Spring. The first impression was how nice and clean the place is. We were taken in within 5-10 minutes on a busy night. The room he was taken in to, was designed as a pediatric room with paintings of circus images on the walls, which was a nice touch...although my sick child could care less. The two nurses there (I wish I had written their names) started administering the IV fluids immediately and did the blood work without wasting any time. They were amazingly efficient and made it positive experience. We would always have to wait in other places for the doctor to come in and place orders but these two nurses here didnt waste any time with life-saving care, making educated decisions and prioritizing as they worked together and done the needful before the Doctor came in. They were cheerful and made us feel comfortable. They were gentle with my son as well. Dr.Crowell was very good too. He was caring and showed much concern for the 6 hours that we were there; frequently popping in to the room to see how my son was progressing and keeping us informed of test results that came in as well as offering support with information. Eventually, we had to be transferred to a hospital but by that time my son was already starting to feel better because of the great care and attention received at Stone Spring EC. This should be a model for other Emergency Centers and hospitals to follow. We give the full five stars they deserve.

Today morning, I visited the emergency room; at the entrance the staff was very professional and friendly showed. They took me immediately and found a room for me. There is little professionalism begins with once the doors close. Arrive at the hospital with vomiting, dizziness and disoriented. Nurses took all my clothes off in a bad way; They began to take samples of urine and anal temperature (like a child) without explaining anything about what they were doing. Was hurt and left me sore; comes the doctor and while he finished explaining how I felt and he was drawing conclusions.Over time, the doctor arrives with the results of the analyzes and informs me that everything went well (simple and routine exams). The doctor authorizes me to receive medication for dizziness. After 15 minutes the nurse comes back and tells me that I can go home. What? and as they were able to make that decision without asking how I felt? this did not make sense to me .... I delivered papers for discharge. The nurse told me that have to wait for someone in the waiting room to go home. I walk down a long, still dizzy and nauseous to sit in a chair until they arrived for me. I was aware of all personnel oferme "the best of them". I was dizzy and not felt good could barely walk and I didt received help to arived to the waiting room, much less let me stay in bed until someone came for me. I felt like an animal when you want to get from one place. It was the most horrible and painful experience Ive been through in my life. And now Im here in my home feeling worse and between the hospital.

I had not heard of StoneSprings until my obstetrician recommended it for my cesarean. The hospital where I was originally going to deliver was full on the date that I really wanted and I had been waitlisted. I toured StoneSprings with my husband and found the labor and delivery staff to be extremely warm and friendly. At the end of my stay I felt like I had met more than a dozen of the staff and they all treated us very well. The nurses all had unique experiences and different knowledge to offer with my recovery and care of my new baby which made me very comfortable. I never had to worry about a thing and every step of the procedure and recovery was explained. I was given enough information to feel confident in any decision. A special shout out to Dr. Iskander who made it possible for me to deliver there and did a wonderful job and Marsha, the director of Womens Services who checked on us often to make sure that we got everything that we needed. The food service staff was also excellent in every way. I dont get that kind of service and personal attention at many fine dinning restaurants and the food was delicious. The hospital isnt in my neck of the woods, but I am definitely glad we made the trip!
