Go somewhere else! I was admitted on Thursday early am. I understand the physician is suppose to see a patient within 24hrs. I was finally almost seen Saturday afternoon. Between Thursday am and Saturday afternoon, I was becoming sicker and sicker. I am on several narcotics for well documented chronic pain. No one wanted to take responsibility for ordering the narcotics so I was in acute withdrawal syndrome. I was vomiting uncontrollably, the same with diarrhea. Several nurses tried to call doctors to order the meds without success. Someone PA or whatever came in and said she could order some Tylenol for me. This as I was leaning over a trash can vomiting my guts out. Are you kidding me? A doctor finally showed up Saturday afternoon and asked to see me in their office, still vomiting uncontrollably. I was sent to the ER and ignored also. I was told the usual, dealing with patients with chest pain. Afterwards I researched the issue, with my medical history and acute withdrawal syndrome I should be treated just as urgently as chest pain patients. The ER doc was an a**hole, treated me like trash, and essentially did as little as possible. I informed him of the treatment that I had before with this issue and he stated that aint gonna happen. After about three-four hours in excruciating pain, I was given something for nausea and sent back to Coastal Plain. Someone finally ordered my meds and it took another 3-4 hours to get them. Aside from their negligence in not seeing me within 24hrs and inducing chronic withdrawal syndrome no other treatment or therapy was given. The place was more like a babysitter to protect me from myself, a negligent babysitter at that! If you need psychiatric care, run from Coastal Plain and Nash Healthcare. Head to Greenville or Raleigh. I cant vouch for these places but please run from psych providers in Rocky Mount.

I, Judy Watson tried to talk to my daughter at coastal hospital mental center and I could not, because I was told that my daughter has to call me. She has mental issues and suppose she was about to die and I would never know. I was also told that I needed an ID# an I was never given one. How was Latesha able to call when she is sick? Please someone help me with this issue? I know there are rules and regulations, but come on now I am her mother, and there has got to be another way around this. Mental Illness is a very serious disease, and some people do not know about mental illness until they experience it with your child.

I was admitted to Coastal Plains after a very serious suicide attempt. I had already spent 3 weeks at Holly Hill and they were horrible. Coastal Plains staff and Nash General were so wonderful. They listened to me, they always had a smile on their face. They are caring and concerned. I had a nurse...Angela that was so nice to me at Nash before I went to Coastal Plains...she was an angel. Thank you Coastal Plains for giving me the correct diagnosis and helping me!
