Much like the other bad experiences, the rehab services are great but many of the nurses and technicians are absolutely horrific. Currently, Ive spent every night at this facility with my grandma, as she is receiving treatment for a stroke. She doesnt speak a lick of English, and so a family members presence in order to translate is absolutely essential. Last night, at roughly 5 AM, two technicians came in and stuck a catheter straight into my grandmas urethra. Keep in mind, they did not ask me, they did not wake me up in order to translate. Instead, I woke up to my grandma screaming out in pain and yelling "ow" as that is the only English word she knows. I then woke up right away and asked them what they were doing and when they started. They then proceeded to laugh and tell me that they told my grandma but werent sure if she understood. The proper protocol for this situation would have been to wake me up ahead of time, talk to me about the procedure, as well as have me translate so I could have explained it to my grandmother. At the very least, I couldve then been there to calm her down and talk to her through it all instead of being woken up by her cries of pain near the end. After these technicians left, my grandma didnt say a single word. Before this, she was very responsive to my family and I, but after they did this, she didnt say a single word and instead, I watched as tears started filling her eyes. Ive heard stories of awful care, but I never thought itd be as invasive as sticking a catheter into a patient without making sure they understood what was going on.

The first time my mother was in HealthSouth rehab facility in Aldie was last year and we had a very good experience. My mother recently had knee replacement surgery and opted to go back to HealthSouth in Aldie. This time around the service has drastically changed. The facilty has opened more beds and it is understaffed. My mother has not gotten medications when she is supposed to and the nurses take a very long time to respond to her when she requests help for going to the bathroom and cleaning up. The nurse herself told my mother that she has 5 other patients and she cannot always get away to help her when she needs it. My mother has even had to remind them repeatedly to give her her pain meds before going to physical therapy. The Supervisor has been informed, the employee was spoken to and than the employee had the nerve to go to my mothers room and chastise my mother for having said something to the supervisor. Other patients have had similar complaints and have told the supervisor as well. I will personally be speaking to the supervisor tomorrow. Hopefully they will be able to turn things around!

In 10 days got to see only 2 really attentive nurses that were assigned to my husband. Everytime I looked for one I was told he was not their patient. Rehab was excellent, but he was released too soon. And not a bit of information as to guest meals or what was offered or expected of us It was rush, rush rush to move us on not giving us adequate opportunity or assistance to find another suitable continuing rehab/nursing place. Friday, weekend & Monday although they could see I was spending hours with him EVERY day & had an hours drive to & from. (Im 83.) Records sent to next facility were woefully inadequate, incomplete, & erroneous. As a former RN with 23 yrs experience I would have been ashamed to give such barely caring treatment. And were there any doctors there? You cant prove it by me. It was finally at the next facility that I learned my husband had THREE fractured vertabrae, not one as I was informed, but he only got TEN days. Ten days for an 82 y,o, man in poor physical health!!! It was like being sent through a foreign country without a guide & shoved out the other side.

A horrible experience. My wife has been there for a few weeks now. The therapy department is excellent, the medical department is horrific. Last night, she was visibly upset about something they were doing and they completely ignored it. When they left the room she was practically in tears. I have been trying to get her discharged today, but they keep putting up new barriers to her release. All of a sudden they are concerned about something that happened yesterday. Now they want a neuro consult; however, yesterday they didnt even care enough to take her to the ER to get checked out. Her blood pressure has been going up and down like a yo-yo for the last four or so days from normal to mid-90s over mid-50s and no one has done anything about it. She has been nauseous for the last week or two and all they do is cram more medications down her throat. Her health has gotten worse since she has been there. If you need any medical care, avoid this place. If you are healthy other than the need for rehab services, you will probably be OK.

My mom was admitted less than a week ago. Admission reception was cheerful and welcoming. Nurses and Techs were ready to help her get settled. All questions were answered. Facility is CLEAN. Equipment is NEW. Health Care providers smile and say hello in the hallways. Evaluation and treatment is explained. Discharge planning is in place. The HealthSouth atmosphere promotes a partnership environment where health, safety, education and rehabilitation are the priorities. Private rooms are spacious with windows that look out over the campus. I could tell that my mom felt respected and cared for when her doctor met us in the dining room the next day and spent a lot of time just getting to know her. HealthSouth Rehabilitation should be the model for todays senior health care goals!

My mother just left the HealthSouth facility in Stoneridge, Va. It was a superior experience. She had been over at another facility and was not getting the care we expected, nor making the progress we expected. The minute she entered Health South, her outlook improved. The facility is immaculate and modern. The staff was devoted to making the my mom comfortable, and getting her back to walking as soon as possible. We also appreciated that the rooms were all private and had windows with views.. a great mental boost for someone facing intense phsyical therapy. I cannot recommend HealthSouth more highly.

I was sent to HealthSouth following a stroke- 2 years ago. I could not have had a better experience. The staff was as caring as could be- all my questions were answered- they made me very comfortable and the rehab therapists were the best. I had both physical and occupational therapy and it helped me tremendously in restoring my confidence and accomplishing my daily activities. I am so grateful for all that was done for me in such a lovely environment. I give it an A+

My son is currently in HealthSouth in Aldie and so far I have been very pleased for the attention and treatment he is receiving. I have been able to meet with all the nurses, staff doctor, therapists and I can only say that they are all caring and kind. I have spent hours in the facility as well at all times and appreciate that the nurses introduce themselves with every shift change. It is clean and each patient is in a private room with a window and all on one level.
