The worst hospital ever. Was brought here by ambulance due to a severe hand injury. Blood was just pouring out. They had to place a tourniquet on in the ambulance to stop the bleeding. As I arrived to the hospital the doctor didnt know what to do. They told me if my bleeding doesnt stop Ill go to emergency surgery to find out what was going on. So he left the room and called a specialist. He came back and said he will be here soon and left again. When he came back again he said the specialist told him to stitch me up and when he arrived hell reopen my hand to see what was going on. When he came into stitch me up he had to call the specialist to see how he wanted him to do it. Upon arrival of the specialist felt like hours. He came into the room and just glanced at my hand and came up with 6 tendons and 4 nerves. He told me I needed surgery and then dropped this question. Do you have insurance? I replied no and that I can pay payments no problem just needed my hand fixed. He said to me someone like you I do not trust to make payments. Stereotyping much? Then I asked what is that supposed to mean. He said that he will not make payment arrangements for someone like me. Then he said I can pay him $30,000 upfront and he will do something. I told him I dont have that kind of cash in my pocket. So he replied you can live like that and told me he cant do anything and I was being discharged. So I seeked medical assistants somewhere else and on my way to another hospital I went into shock and was rushed there by ambulance again. Twice in one day. Little too be told I went under for surgery to fix my hand which his diagnosis was. Wrong. It was 4 tendons 2 never and a severed artery. 7 months ago this happened and Im sure for another surgery on the same hand. The worst hospital ever. Ill never go back. Uva is the place to go. And the only place Ill go now. Update. May 2017 I just sent a request for them to investigate. They said that everything was right on how the doctors treated me. Discrimination against me. Refusing to treat me. Saying that they would only help if I gave them $30,000 upfront. All that is treating a patient right in there books. What really for me was this I can in by ambulance and they said my acuity was level one massive bleeding but yet there was no. Medical emergency. The only thing that controlled the bleeding was a tourniquet. Please someone tell me how acuity level one is not a emergency. This hospital is a joke I have all documents all are dated and from the hospital along with my medical records so everything is crossed with them that they are lying and trying to cover them selves. I dont think they knew I had my records and just send that investigation as a joke that I wouldnt know. Avoid this hospital at all costs.

Im newly 18 so going to the er now without my parents is a little on the frightening side but to come to this place without my parents is a nightmare my father braught me here (my thrid vist to mary washington.) A kidney stone my first ever. Last sunday nov 20. 2016 i was taken there for the first time told by dr. Utz that they would do a operation as a out-patient. I was fine with that i was given medicane and told to go home and rest. My medicane stoped working i contacted my urology doctor to be told to go to the stafford location that something would be done about it there since they were connected so Tuesday nov 22. 2016 i went to the stafford location to be told there was nothing that could be done given pain pills and sent home and also told just to wait for my apt the next day so i did that. At my apt i was given a surgery date more medicane and told to wait so yet again i waited.. Saturday morning i woke up with really bad vomiting and pain called the on-call doctor for my urology and was told to go back into the city and i would be admitted and i would have surgery eailer than thrusday so i did that. I got to the er i got called back they wanted blood work so my nurse eric went to start my iv he tied the rubber band way to tight and left a red mark that goes around my arm and than when he stuck in my Iv and screwed the little piece on that connectes to the fliud machines he pinched my skin twisting it leaving a blood blister. Everytime he would check my blood pressure he would rub my arm to try to make the red mark go away. After i was admitted my surgery was the upcomming Sunday (i had been dealing with this for a week now) they told me at 10 am i was going to be thrid on the list to have surgery get ready so i did that they pushed me back 6 hours.. i had not eaten since the might before around 6 i was going on about 24 hours of nothing to drink or eat besides them pumping fluids into me i was puking as well begging for a ice chip or something i was told no and i asked for my surgery to be post posted than and was also told no again. Finally around 6:30 i was taken down for surgery myself and boyfriend were told it would be a 2 hour prossec at the max i did not come back to my room untill 10:30 in that time a nurse had contacted my mother telling her to not go to my room wait in the OR waiting room and the doctor would be there to talk to her aftet surgery he did not do that he oprated on me told me while i was still half unconscious that he would see me in the morning and left. No one told my mom the surgery was over untill one of the floor nurses came down stairs to help take me up my room. This place and this experience made me hope and pray i never need any help from this hosptial again and not have time to go somewhere else..

This hospital has gone down the drain!! What happened? Omg! First there is the extended wait. A few years ago, this ER problem had been solved. Now were back to the 3, 4, and 5 hour waits! Even AFTER youre admitted younstill have to wait hours for an orderly to simply push you to a room! The nurses talked openly about incompetent doctors! My friend came in with fluid retention that threatened his heart and the doctor ordered fluids!! It could have killed him!! Every eldery person that comes in gets pneumonia. Only the mature nurses work and are professional. My mom:s conditioned worsened and she moved to a floor "with more support". It was a bunch of young nurses goggling a male nurse. When I walked out to resqust tissues, soap and towels for my mom they were all laughing and hugging him! I waited to be acknowledged!! It was highly, highly unprofessional behavior. I am certain their husbands or boyfriends would agree. I had to request them to look at my moms bedding three times before finally two wonderful veteran nurses did a cnas job! Im so grateful that there were still some professional caring and hardworking nurses at MWh but two or three is insufficient and negligent for a hospital this size. MWH has put itself out of business by opening so many Express and satwllite hospitals. Coupled with an enormous amount of urgent care facilities in the areà, they cannot staff a hospital this size. My mom went in for a pain and ended up with an overdose of meds, pneumonia, somber and incoreect diagnosis from subpar physicians and a host of problems. When my elderly friend went in he was also diagnosed with pneumonia! What are the odds?! Is pneumonia just another buzz word for filthy hospital? Like I said, MWh can boast having the best nurses who are smart professional and caring. But they need to get rid of these guys and gals who are busy socializing, not answering machine beeps--my friends beep went on for 30 minutes! I called the nurse. Finally I opened the door and moved the machine as close as I could to the hall. An administrator finally grew tirednof the noise and shut the machine off to alleviate the annoyance. MWH has lost its touch. This is a hospital that needs to get in shape!
