We brought our indoor Bengal cat here for 1.5 days of vomiting 5-7 times and refusing to eat or drink. Dr. Escudero seemed incredibly concerned, but slightly judgmental about the fact that we had a Bengal cat and about the fact that they are high maintenance and sensitive, and susceptible to IBS. However I work with animals for a living, and am very familiar with many different animals, exotic and domestic, and we take very good care of our pets. He suggested bloodwork, urinalysis, and possibly x-rays because she might have been impacted (which would have required emergency surgery). She had a slight fever at the time, a little over 103, but normal for cats is 102.5; she could have had a higher fever due to the stress of being at the vet, but I trusted his judgment and concern as he had such great reviews on Google. He noticed there was some diarrhea on the thermometer, and instead of taking a fecal sample he wiped it off and threw it away. I should have known right then and there that he should have taken a fecal sample, but again I trusted his judgment. Due to money concerns, I agreed on giving her antibiotics and doing bloodwork and urinalysis (ended up being $360) prior to doing x-rays. Not surprisingly, she was getting worse after I brought her home, and the next day I didnt receive a call back about her results until 3:30PM the next day, and they were inconclusive, showing slight dehydration which wasnt shocking since she hadnt been drinking or eating. This meant that we would have to move forward with the x-rays ($170), but they "did not have any time" for us to bring her in that day for x-rays, and they didnt have any open slots available for the next day until 4PM. Mind you, this is a cat that is clearly suffering and is getting worse. They finally agreed for us to drop her off the next morning at 9AM, and gave my boyfriend a call around 11AM to come pick her up so they can talk about the next step. The vet explained that the x-ray results were fairly inconclusive, he couldnt tell if she was impacted or not and the best bet would be an ultrasound (which they dont have in their office) and/or exploratory surgery (are you kidding me? This is not only expensive, but incredibly invasive surgery) that they wouldnt have time to do until the next week because it was Friday. Our cats condition was worsening, and if she was impacted, Ill say again that she would have needed EMERGENCY surgery or she had a very high chance of dying. After another $350+ dollars, he sent her home for us to closely monitor her after giving her fluids and more antibiotics and testing her for FIV and FeLV (which we tested her for in the past and she was negative). Almost $850 dollars was spent already. Soon after we brought her home, she used the litter box and we noticed there was a fairly large worm in her stool. He called the vet immediately and he brought her back to be de-wormed (another $50 or so..). Once home, she was immediately feeling better, starting to play and eat wet food for the first time in days. If he had just taken a fecal sample on day 1, we would have only had to spend less than $200 and our cat would have felt better much sooner. Im not sure if he assumed he could get a lot of money out of us because we have a Bengal cat, given the fact that he has so many great reviews. But I wanted to share my story so nobody else has to go through this. If we hadnt noticed that worm in her stool, we might have gone through with the exploratory surgery because we just wanted our cat to feel better and we wanted to get to the root of the cause. I will never be going to this vet again and absolutely do not recommend him.

Horrific experience. Took my Great Dane in to get tumors looked at which I had a feeling was bad news. Doctor wasnt focused on the tumors and went on and told me my dog had a heart problem. Insisted I needed to take him to a cardiologist and spend over $1,000 to get heart answers before I do anything about the tumors. The doctor made me get an unnecessary heartworm test and an urinalysis for $100 when I didnt even bring his urine back because I found out all his information was bologna. Doctor wanted me to bring my dog back for an unnecessary biopsy. In total the doctor charged me about $400 to give me a bunch of B.S info. I went and got a second opinion that day and turns out my dog doesnt have any heart problems. Never needed a cardiology specialist or a heartworm test. And even if he did, dogs can live years with heart problems and not with cancer which my dog has. My dog is now getting the actual help that he needs no thanks to dr. Felix for pointing me in all the wrong directions. I will NEVER take any pet back to him again.

They are just the bees knees. Family run business that is so inviting and welcoming. Dr. Felix and his family are so loving and compassionate. Hes a great Vet and the staff is awesome. I love the beautiful colors and wood benches in the waiting area too! Veronica and her cat Winky that hangs out at the reception desk are just the best! I am an avid animal lover, volunteer at a local no kill shelter in Bloomfield and I help strays and worldwide organizations so I know a good Vet and this place is great!

I was disappointed after Dr Felix directly told me he HAD to do the annual exams on my dog in order for him to continue prescribing her medicine (exams have nothing to do with the medicine) even though her annual check up is in two months. All simply because I was buying the medicine from a pharmacy with Dr Felixs prescription and not from him. If you want a vet who wants to dig in your pocket with a shovel, this is the place to go.

I have not been to the clinic because I do not live in NJ anymore, but I have worked with Dr.Felix for many years.I am so very happy that he has his own vet.clinic now. He is a wonderful and compassionate person who truly cares about the well being of our non human family members. He is also a loyal friend and it is a pleasure to know him. I wish him the very best and a happy live. From your friend Gerda.

Dr. Felix is the best, very conservative with his treatment recommendations but truly wants the best for my Weimaraner, Charlie who is 10 years old. I travel quite a distance from my home to him to make sure she gets the best care possible. You cant go wrong with him and his caring team!

Dr Felix is one of the best vets I have ever been to! He really cares about your pet and you. My cat Bella actually liked him, too. Normally, she fights the vet. She took one look at Dr Felix and started to purr. That was the only approval I needed. Hes really affordable, too!
