In August of 2011, after almost 3 years of varying health issues, I was referred to Dr. Selkin, mainly due to the horrible case of lichen planus in my mouth. The ulcers were the size of quarters and there was no place in my mouth that wasn’t sore, bleeding and in pain. In the general health workup and questioning, I indicated the many doctors that I had seen, my fatigue and my migraines, among other various health issues. No one could figure out what was going on with my body. Then Dr. Selkin asked if I had ever been tested for Hepatitis C. He stated that they had found a 1% correlation between patients with lichen planus and infections of Hepatitis C. Since I wasn’t sure I had ever been tested, he ran the test. To my astonishment, it came back positive. He referred me to a wonderful specialist, where I went through rigorous drug therapy treatment to destroy the virus in my body. Dr. Selkin was there throughout the treatment and beyond, prescribing medications which worked wonderfully for my mouth and skin. It was not easy, but I won the battle. I am happy to say I am Hepatitis C free today. On a 1% chance, Dr Selkin ran the test that saved my life. Thank you Dr. Selkin!

He listens, but most important, he hears what you say. Is an extremely good diagnostician. Treated my eczema effectively by giving me great handouts, clear instructions and even pictures of over the counter products making it very clear. Worked extensively on his own time to fight with my insurance company for a home light box since I live far from office, including speaking to a medical director at Cigna, all on my behalf. Where I think he most stands out is his ability to get things done efficiently during a visit. He does for me in one visit what others would take multiple visits for. This means me paying only one copay and not taking off from work more than once -- saving me time and money. Highly recommend.

This guys a genius! Waited 6 weeks to see him, but this saved my vision. Found a melanoma on my leg, then sent me to Dr. Frazee for eye examination. But not only did Dr. Selkin recommend this, his office staffed followed through to set this up and make sure my insurance was accepted everything was done for me, which thank the lord as i would not have done this on my own. This led me to a retina specialist and eventually to MD Anderson in Houston, and they found a melanoma in my left eye. They were impressed that a dermatologist ultimately led to this being found. He saved my vision and likely my life, and I cannot say enough good things about him and his staff.

Dr. Selkin for my family has been the ideal combination of an academic dermatologist in a private practice setting. We have seen many a derm in many states and he turned my daughters severe eczema around and this was life changing for her at a critical age! He is extremely careful and always aware and on top of lab values and remembers everything. Even though I find him to be one of the busiest derms in the area, i have by far found him to be the most accomodating and always with a good attitude once we were added on same day at 430 on a Friday -- and he stayed very late to help her.

Seems to be a disconnect between billing and the medical staff. I was told that services would be outside of what our insurance would pay as we had not met the deductible. We were told we would be responsible for 100 dollar lab costs. We confirmed this and decided that was fine. We paid that amount along with the copay that day. Two months later we received a bill from the lab company for 100 dollars. Long story short, the 100 dollars we paid for there was NOT for lab services, but for other services which were never mentioned to us.

Dr. Selkin is a wonderful dermatologist. I came into his office bc of a home treatment that burned my face, I thought I was going to be scarred for life. Dr. Selkin immediately knew how to treat my condition which ended up healing within a week. He is so professional and caring about his patients. He even asked to see me the following week just to see how I was healing-for no charge. I would recommend Dr.Selkin to anyone who is looking for a great dermatologist. I cannot praise him enough for being such a wonderful doctor.

Was sent here for further treatment of eczema for my daughter. We had been to other derms in the area but they didnt add much to the treatment. Dr. Selkin clearly knows his stuff and the pediatrician said this is who he would use for his own kids. Everything was clearly explained, handouts were given to me, meds were sent in so i didnt have to wait at pharmacy, my daughter has improved significantly and I am very thankful to him. He is also very cautious and conservative about medications which means a lot to me as a mom

Dr. Selkin is very knowledgeable, well-informed and caring. He prescribes right brand medicine and options of online pharmacy to ensure that patient pays the lowest price out of the pocket. He personally returned my phone call to address my concerns and quickly provided alternatives. I also want to thank Terry, the office manager for going out of her way to accommodate my daughters school schedule so that treatment does not get interrupted. Wonderful experience!!!

The most caring and the best dermatologist. Nice and smart dont usually go together in my experience, but Dr. Selkin is both. He focuses on prevention, and im one who usually doesnt go to doctors, but I actually enjoy my annual visits because I know im keeping my skin healthy. I love his approach of education and prevention and this has made a difference for me as I have not gotten skin cancer since seeing him and his amazing efforts. He is a leader in his field!

Tried to schedule an appt for possible skin cancer..per my PCP. When I called all I got was an attitude and was made to feel as if I was bothering her to schedule an appointment. Sad, sad way to treat a new possible patient. Pretty sad when I work for Primary Care doctor who refers to their office quite a bit! Ill let my employer know how they treat people. Wouldnt want to refer a patient to this office, especially the way I was treated.

I cant speak for Dr. Selkin himself; however, I would never recommend seeing the Physicians assistants. I brought my son there and they were very overzealous about prescribing accutane with little regard for any other treatment for his mild acne. Same for my daughter, they were also willing to write her birth control prescriptions despite "not being sure if it was entirely safe for her."

This guy really knows his stuff! After several rounds of mis-diagnosis, I was referred to him. What others couldnt fix in months, he fixed in DAYS! I went from being in a lot of pain to pain-free within 48 hours and continued to improve under his care.
