After seeing Dr. Joseph Lajoie at the Clarkston Medical Group, the lab their offices used to process the blood work billed me independently in the amount of $1,486.10. ...for blood work. Nothing else. Just that. Basic blood work. Four digits and change. Are we all on the same page, here? Good. Dr. Lajoies staff feels thats reasonable. They also feel its reasonable to not mention or even estimate the cost of the suggested action prior to taking it. CMGs billing staff argued that "things arent free," and "it was in the paperwork you signed that youd be billed separately." You mean those twenty-some pages you handed me that ask me to waive legal right after legal right before I can even walk through the doors to receive your "care?" Yeah, I didnt actually sign them all. I want to keep my first-born, thanks. You know, auto mechanics cant replace the alternator in your car without quoting you the cost first. Its illegal. If they could, the dishonest ones would take advantage - as history has shown. Doctors though? Hospitals? Labs? Nah. Gouging is fair-play and standard practice. Deception is the norm. Disclosure? Unnecessary. And the industry, the doctors, the nurses, and the office clerks who keep all those cogs spinning day in, day out? Well, they stone-wall any moral challenge that might ask them to take responsibility for it. Theyve got the Nuremberg defense fast on hand: Just following orders. If it wasnt me doing it, itd be someone else. I sleep fine at night. Could that be because you are a sociopath? $1,500 for blood work. I think I understand the value of a lab tech putting a vial in a centrifuge and pressing "go." And its not $1,500. I dont care how much education you had in order for them to let you press "go," its still not worth four figures. And if you think it is, might I suggest that you are required by decency - where not law - to mention that hefty sum before you sucker people in and ask them to go bankrupt paying your ludicrous fee. I had to be coerced into going to see this doctor by family and friends who were concerned about my health. Im that kind of guy. I dont like doctors, hospitals, or any of it. Why? (See above.) Because theyre crooks who estimate their own self-worth in billions; engaged in an incessant act of self-justification; playing along with a system they know screws everyone in its path; and anyway the bulk of their learned health advice is no more than common sense. "Stop smoking." "Less salt in the diet." "Dont put your hand in the wheat thresher." Having been billed over $1500 (when you add in the cost of the office visit) to find out that my vitamin D levels were low, and that I should pick up $8 worth of supplements from the local Kroger, I will never, ever set foot in a doctors office in this country again. In the event of emergency, I will weigh carefully whether to call 911 or just take my chances; A choice that more and more of us are making each day -- sadly, many of us dying in the process. Any of you sociopaths at Clarkston Medical Group care? No? ...Didnt think so. You sleep fine. And if it gets so bad that I decide to hazard my health, not to mention my economic solvency in the hands of such careless care-givers at an ER somewhere, Ill simply be sure to leave all identification at home, and identify by the name of Mr. John Doe, Esquire. Thanks for fixing the health care system, Obama! Now we dont even have a choice but to buy in to this bullshit.

One big problem with the current reviews is there are 2 different clinics being reviewed here - in the McLauren building there is Clarkston Urgent Care (24h) (Suite #120) and Clarkston Medical Group (Suite #100) which is more the family practice style by appointment. Ive been to both and would agree you can end up waiting a long time if you go to urgent care, however since the address here says #100 these reviews should be related to the general clinic which I have always had a great experience! I see Dr. Lori Lajoie and she is great and my husband highly recommends Timothy ONeil. Get there about 10 minutes before your appointment to check-in and things move pretty quickly. Would HIGHLY suggest calling and trying to get a last minute appointment here (and establishing a primary care doctor) instead of just walking in to the Urgent Care every time you need a doctor (unless it is after-hours). We have also seen one of their physician assistants a couple times for last minute things and she was awesome as well. They also have a great patient portal where you can see lab / test results, doc notes, scheduled appointments etc online. We really like Clarkston Medical Group!

I went in for some stomach problems I have been having for a while and I couldnt be happier with the treatment and kindness I received from every single person that was working. The front desk girls were extremely kind and helpful. I waited in the lobby for about 10 minutes and was put into a room with another very kind nurse. After the nurse took my vitals and asked me a few questions, I waited for Dr. Joseph Lajoie for about 15 minutes, which I thought was very reasonable. He was extremely thorough in explaining all of the possible causes of my symptoms and I left feeling very educated on exactly what was going on with my body. He recommended them taking a blood sample, which I am a HUGE baby about. The woman who ended up taking the sample made me feel so incredibly comfortable and made the process very quick and painless. She was an absolute pro! The entire experience was just awesome. I would highly recommend this office to anyone, especially people who get a little nervous about visiting the doctors office like I am.

The billing dept. Is less then professional absolutely absurd to try and convince me that I hadnt had surgery at this facility and that they did not collect portion of deductible as proceed to explain I do indeed, I was talked to like I was a nine year old, only to have had enough and to voice back was to be hung up on, Im glad that someone did in fact call me back that wasnt her wish I would of got her name, when called back it was in fact more pleasant and assured me that I have the refund being returned and as of close today it was Im glad for that, but after reading prior reviews here similar examples ring true Im not the only one and unfortunately I like dr. Joe lajoie great dr. But I will seek a new pcp as I will not tolerate office staff being rude or o rely zealous to belittle me.... u would think we the patient or customer would come first Im sure the dr. Z I this office will feel it I their wallet if this continues as I look along with hopefully others that have same experiences move on to other pcp......

I despise this place. My family and I have been seeing doctors at CMG for over 30 years. Ever since it has become so large it is inefficient, cold, uncaring and incompetent. Upon some medical emergencies over the last month, I had no choice but to be seen at the McLaren Emergency facility which is the same building as CMG. My records were sent to CMG and a follow up at my primary care physician was scheduled. From that point on, my records have been misplaced, my phone calls have not been returned (5 calls I have left so far, in the last week) and referrals that were to be sent to specialists were never sent. I am beyond fed up. Medical emergencies should NOT have to result in even more frustration for a patient. I should NOT have to baby sit incompetent doctors and assistants when it is their job to guard and send records as well as fax orders and referrals to specialists. As soon as this medical issue is resolved, my family and I will be looking for a new doctors office immediately.
