They refused to provide my complete prescription, claiming "liability" which is against the law. I have since reported them to the FTC: FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION PART 456--OPHTHALMIC PRACTICE RULES-- Sec. 456.2 Separation of examination and dispensing. It is an unfair act or practice for an ophthalmologist or optometrist to: (a) Fail to provide to the patient one copy of the patients prescription immediately after the eye examination is completed. Provided: An ophthalmologist or optometrist may refuse to give the patient a copy of the patients prescription until the patient has paid for the eye examination, but only if that ophthalmologist or optometrist would have required immediate payment from that patient had the examination revealed that no ophthalmic goods were required; (b) Condition the availability of an eye examination to any person on a requirement that the patient agree to purchase any ophthalmic goods from the ophthalmologist or optometrist; (c) Charge the patient any fee in addition to the ophthalmologists or optometrists examination fee as a condition to releasing the prescription to the patient. Provided: An ophthalmologist or optometrist may charge an additional fee for verifying ophthalmic goods dispensed by another seller when the additional fee is imposed at the time the verification is performed; or (d) Place on the prescription, or require the patient to sign, or deliver to the patient a form or notice waiving or disclaiming the liability or responsibility of the ophthalmologist or optometrist for the accuracy of the eye examination or the accuracy of the ophthalmic goods and services dispensed by another seller. Unprofessional and unacceptable service -- The other reviews about the unfriendly and unhelpful office staff are spot on. Do not trust the information published on their website. The website says they have 1 hour service for glasses which is false. They told me that it would take two to three weeks to get my glasses, not one hour. Additionally, the hours posted on their website and on their phone messages are not accurate. This office routinely closes half an hour early on weekdays and hours early on Saturdays. The website/phone says open till 4pm on Saturdays, but when I went to pick up my frames at 1pm they were already closed for the day. Also be sure to ask if any of the additional tests will be covered by your insurance company. They scheduled me for several tests that my insurance would not cover (never telling me) and then expected me to pay out pocket. Stay away -- the worst optometrist experience Ive ever had.

The doctor we had was very nice, helpful and informative. The office staff however could not have cared less. No one bothered helping my husband select his glasses (one lady did help me with mine). When we went back to pick up the glasses, the staff did not check to see how the glasses fit on our face or bother with adjusting them as necessary. I have never gone to pick up glasses before and not had them adjust them several times to fit. I had to go back up there and ask someone to please adjust my glasses to fit properly a few days later, as they were sitting crooked on my face. Which they did, however they seemed as though I was wasting their time. Again, the doctor we saw was VERY nice and thorough. We may or may not choose to go somewhere else for our next checkup....

Like the two other reviewers have said - the office staff leave something to be desired. They were very friendly to me in person, but over the phone I thought the receptionist was having a truly terrible day. I came to realize thats just how she sounds on the phone. Its not the most organized office ever, its true. And the wait can be long. However, the doctor herself was great. She took the time to talk to me and to find a better type of lens, which has made a world of difference. I will be returning here for all my eye-care needs.

The office knew several hours before my appointment that they were running behind, yet didnt call me to let me know. When I arrived for my first appointment, they informed me, and told me to wait but I rescheduled instead. When I got there for the second appointment, the reception staff were rude and there was no auditory privacy with the tech who discussed glasses and contacts with me. Their prices arent competitive, and the optometrist is the only decent person there but she wasnt even the regular optometrist at that location.

I always appreciate the care and service I receive here (or any of their other location). Dr. Zimnicki has treated me for years now, and her thoughtful attention has kept me loyal to the practice. That said, everyone is excellent there, clinicians to staff, and I highly recommend the group. Locally owned, convenient hours, great pricing.

i had a great experience with the doctors there and the staff were very helpful!!!! specifically, the younger girl in the office. she was extremely nice to my daughter and super polite to me. i will definitely go back because of the employees here in particular.

I went to Fortney a couple times shortly after moving to MI, and I am not going back. Office staff was not rude, but not professional or helpful either. Huge wait times. Seems unorganized. Wont go into detail but it was a very frustrating experience.
