Based on the recommendations of some friends, we took our son to Riverside Pediatrics to see Dr. Tiku. Reception Staff (1 star): They really have no idea what they are doing. I dont even think they schedule based on doctors. For example, we have been scheduled to see Dr. Tiku at 11:30am even though she doesnt come in until 12:00pm. They always ask which doctor youre there to see at each appointment as well (since they have no idea). In our most recent visit to see Dr. Ben, she had a huge queue of patients while another doctor was just wandering around aimlessly. This meant a wait of over an hour past our 10am appointment time in order to see her. We didnt get out of the office until 11:45am!! I have never experienced a more poorly run reception/scheduling desk. You can make any appointment you want, but it ends up being a scheduled walk-in. If at 10am, youre already facing over an hour wait, an afternoon appointment must be killer. We will now schedule (our walk-in) for 8am. Aide Staff (2 stars): They are relatively competent depending on who you get. For example, some aides insist on removal of your babys diaper, and other aides dont care. We just take it off each time now so the weigh-ins are consistent. So far everyone weve met hurries through the measurements and are rude if you ask questions during their measurements. I could understand if there was a queue for aides, but they are usually milling around. Doctors (5 stars): Dr. TIku and Dr. Ben are great. Even though they have such a large queue, they really take their time with your kid. They are thorough with the questions they ask and the questions they answer. I cannot say enough good things about them, they are the only reason we deal with such a poorly run office. Nurses (3 stars): So far they have been competent. They do their job quickly, properly, and then move on. There is another doctor at this clinic that almost no one sees. This "scheduled walk-in" approach might work if everyone saw the doctors evenly, but that is not the case. Everyone goes to see Dr. Ben and Dr. Tiku. (Dr. Tiku is now at the Washington St. office)

We are very happy with the Riverside Pediatric Group. We have been taking our daughter (20 months now) since she was born. They are very quick in answering phone calls if you leave a message with the staff. The reason I chose this practice was because they have multiple locations, are open on weekends, and Secaucus clinic is open till midnight. I really like Dr. Zarrabi at the practice. She took all the time to answer your questions, is great with kids and did not push for things. Dr. Tiku is our pediatrician now since Dr Zarrabi changed practices. Initially I thought that Dr. Tiku didnt take as much time as I would have liked answering my questions, some of them probably trivial as a first time mom. However, we have been going to Dr. Tiku for over a year now and she has been great! She does not over-prescribe medications and tries to use natural remedies where possible. We are very happy with Dr Tiku. I have met also met Dr. John once and like her too. I have heard great things about Dr. Baker from friends who were amazed at his knowledge.

This is the practice that got me to stop breastfeeding my daughter (there was nothing wrong with the process and I was a first time mum and didnt know any better), ignored my daughters lactose intolerance and acid reflux "because babies cry", until I went there and refused to leave and they did something about it. The same practice that when my daughter had an UTI told me she didnt, despite testing it, and the infection ended in her blood and she nearly died (septicemia). I thought it was the doctor, not the practice, so I kept going back but to a different doctor. Today I found out they gave my other daughter antibiotics for no reason, then blamed it on the lab. Either way, the risk is too big and I wont be going back. Did I mention the long waiting times and the admin staff that never call back or follow through? My advice is, if you are going there, question all the medical advice you are given and get a second opinion for anything out of the ordinary. From what Ive heard from other mothers, my case is not isolated.

We took our toddler to the clinic for a small burn with the tea as we got really scared. The whole visit took about 5 minutes, where doctor had 5 second glance at the son and prescribed an ointment to apply. There was no application or for that matter even touching the burn at the clinic by the doctor or nurse. It was such a minor burn that after 3 days we did not even notice any mark on him. I understand that my insurance has high deductible but getting charged for this 5 second visit twice on the insurance is a scam to me (1. Outpatient visit, 2. Thick Burn/Surgery). I need to pay $150 out of pocket for ointment prescription in addition to what they charged the insurance company. Describing the burn as thick burn/surgery is a blatant lie. Even without insurance, doctors will usually charge you less than this and will be honest with what and how they are you charging for. Will STRONGLY advice you to stay away from this business. And yes, I tried few times talking to their office about this issue but to no avail!

I have been taking my son to see Dr Parikh and Dr Ben for 4 years now and now my new baby of 3 months and I couldnt be any happier with the care I get. They are wonderful doctors who take their time to answer my questions and concerns. Luckily every time I have gone I have not had any wait time and if I have, its nothing longer than 30 minutes, which is a reasonable wait time for a very busy office. Everyone in that office is amazing, the girls in the reception area always greet you with warm smiles, and the nurses in the back always play with my son and make his visit as comfortable as possible. I honestly cant say I feel for anyone who has had a bad experience because this office is the best. I have visited some of their other offices and it does not compare. Definitely recommend this office, and if wait time is your only complaint, its definitely worth it because you will get the best care for your little ones !

I like Dr. Tiku a lot - very strong doctor. However, this office is not well managed. Hold times are WAY too long. I am routinely waiting on hold for 5 or 10 minutes to make an appointment. Usually, I have to hang up because no one picks up the phone again .. and call back, tell them I have been waiting for 5 minutes and then they let me schedule the appointment. Seems like an easy fix but just has not been done in the 16 months I have been there. I have 2 kids and between well visits and several illnesses they are there a lot, which is why this stuff sticks out to me.

The doctors are wonderful. Once you actually get to them, they are fantastic. Be prepared to wait 1+ hour for your scheduled appointment. Know that when you visit them, you may still be getting bills from their massively inept billing department 18 months later. Bills that are all wrong and you have to fight with them and your insurance company. It will be the one time that your insurance company is right and the doctors office is wrong. They are wonderful doctors but I will never go back to them because of waiting times and billing.
