The only reason I am giving Oakland Animal Hospital 1 star is because Ive heard good things about them. However the receptionist, Karen, is one of the rudest people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. She was demeaning, condescending, and downright awful. She had no sympathy for me or my pet and our difficult situation, and was beyond rude. Additionally, she accused me of providing an incorrect diagnosis for my pet (which a previous vet had given me), acting as if she knew better. Unless you are the veterinarian or even perhaps the vet tech, you have absolutely no business giving me your medical "expertise." Because of her, I cancelled my appointment. Never would I take my pet or my business to a place that employs someone like Karen. I should have listened to the people that warned me about "the nasty receptionist, Karen" but I wanted to give the veterinarian a try because Id heard such good things. Please take this into consideration before putting your pet and yourself through the difficulty of dealing with this terrible woman.

I have been coming here for years, but after a recent experience with Dr. Elizabeth Merz, I wont be returning. My dogs is, admittedly, weary of strangers and can even become aggressive at times. Consequently, I willingly muzzle him so that the vet can examine him without fear of being bitten. During a recent visit when my dog became aggressive, Dr. Merz appeared to get angry and I became concerned over her handling my dog. She had this look of disgust on her face that I have never seen another vet exhibit when handling an animal. She later inquired as to whether I had considered having him put to sleep due to his behavior. I was gravely hurt and offended by this, especially considering that my dog is a sweet, gentle soul with friends and family that he knows. I dont feel comfortable having my pet treated by her any longer so I will be seeking another vet.

I find the staff to be very compassionate and professional at all times, beginning with the friendly and accommodating receptionists right through to the competent techs and excellent doctors. I have had multiple pets as patients at OAH and will continue to use their services for my pets in the future. The team at OAH provide excellent care!

We love the staff at Oakland Animal Hospital! They are always so nice and helpful. Other offices weve been to pushed unnecessary tests seemingly to run up the cost. That is never the case here. Even if it takes us a lot longer to get here from where we live it is always well worth the trip.

Ive brought both of my chinchillas here on seperate occasions to see Dr. Chabora She has done a great job at making sure they are healthy. All the vet techs are lovely, kind and thorough. They are so sweet to my chinchillas and I will definitely continue to see them.

I never have to wait here! Unlike some other local vets, your appointment time is the time you get seen! Receptionists, vet techs, and vets are so nice and will go out of their way to help. Their prices are VERY reasonable for the area. Highly recommend.
