I first came to Active Chiropractic because I was having upper back pain causing weakness and a burning sensation. I could best describe the pain as a constant hot knife in my spine that was often debilitating. It would even hurt to breathe. In addition, constant migraines made it difficult to focus during the day. When I was 15, I was in a bad car accident that led to numerous injections and physical therapy for two years. I briefly saw a chiropractor after the accident, as well. Then, 12 years ago, when I had my son I began to have more pain. I tried chiropractic care again but was unable to go long enough to see any results. So, to maintain and just keep my body moving I started weight training, swimming and yoga but over the last two to three years my problem was getting worse. Finally, this past year it had become unbearable to do everyday activities like doing the dishes and carrying groceries. Working for a vet, my job duties included restraining up to 100lb dogs and working at a computer which, at that point in time, I was unable to do without pain. Even interacting with my young children was getting to be hard. I knew I had to do something about it and my only options would be surgery, pain medication, or seeing the Chiropractor. To me, there was only one choice. Since coming to Active Chiropractic, my range of motion and posture has greatly improved! Before, I was only able to sleep 2 hours straight at best. Now, I sleep at least 6 hours solid and I am feeling wonderful! I make sure to continue to do my stretches at home. I make a conscious effort to stay proactive in my treatment in order to maintain the progress that I have made. It has greatly allowed me to enjoy life and I am able to be active with my kids again. If I had not come to Active Chiropractic filing for disability would have been a possibility. At my age, that is not something I was interested in doing at all. The staff at Active Chiropractic is everything you would want in a doctor’s office. They are professional, friendly, helpful and patient. Dr. Wines has a very calm energy making it easy to relax while being adjusted. You can tell that the office as a whole is in it because they are passionate about getting people the care they really need. I have had great results and recommend if you are having pain to give Active Chiropractic the chance to help you like they have helped me. It never hurts to try.

Last spring, during my sophomore year at OU, I decided it was time to dive into a chiropractic care plan to try and end my migraines once and for all. I had been suffering from 1-3 migraines a month since the age of 12. These headaches often lasted days and included nausea, vomiting, and extreme tension on the right side of my body including my neck, trap, and arm. As you can imagine, this made it very difficult to excel in school, adding stress to an already stressful situation.Taking prescription medication often helped the migraine once it had set in, but there were many times when it didnt and I knew there was an underlying problem all these years that needed to be corrected rather than just treating the symptoms. I looked around online for chiropractic care in Norman and read only good things about Active Chiropractic and Dr. Wines. Since my first visit I have enjoyed vast improvements in health. Dr. Wines was able to identify the problem and institute a care plan that included adjustments, massage, and an orthotic device to help retrain the muscles in my neck. Along the way Dr. Wines, Ruthie, Connie, and Megan welcomed me in like family and educated me about the history of Chiropractic. I am so grateful I listened to Dr. Wines and stuck to the care plan. In my case, I had to come in multiple times a week for the first month to get adjusted and then was able to transition to once a week, and now every two weeks. I have found the time commitment to be extremely worth it as chiropractic care has provided me with a higher level of well being than I have enjoyed since childhood. In the past 9 months since I have been coming in I can count the number of migraines I have had on one hand. And now if I do have a headache, it usually goes away with drinking water and resting, whereas before it would spiral out of control into a multiple-day migraine. When you are ready to dedicate time to your wellness, I recommend Active Chiropractic.

I was in an automobile accident in November 2013. I was thrown forward so hard from impact that my neck had literally straightened (the neck is normally curved). The first few days after the accident, I was in so much pain - I would wake up in tears from pain, I couldnt turn my neck more than a few millimeters, every step jarred my whole body. The medication from the ER wasnt doing anything other than masking the pain for a few hours at a time. A friend referred me to Dr. Wines at Active Chiropractic, swearing by his abilities. I went in with tears in my eyes. One minor adjustment was all I could handle that day, but it made all the difference in the world. I slept through that night. I visited Dr. Wines again the next day, this time more rested and able to move my head. After 3 adjustments a week for 8 weeks, Im back to normal. I can check blind spots while driving! Something I couldnt do for a few weeks after the accident. Dr. Wines and his team worked with me on everything, from scheduling (around my work), to finances, to teaching me medicine ball exercises and proper stretching. They were the full physical therapy/recovery package. The Active Chiropractic team was a joy to see three times a week. I am now in maintenance mode for my recovery (2x/month). I know I could have powered through the pain and healed on my own (probably improperly), but Dr. Wines and his team sped up the process, helped me heal correctly, and made my recovery far more comfortable. I cant thank them enough. I would recommend EVERYBODY see a chiropractor, and if youre in the OKC area, I would recommend Active Chiropractic whole-heartedly. Thank you, Dr. Wines and the Active Chiropractic Team! You saved my life. Caroline R.

I first came to Active Chiropractic because I was having pain and shaking in my right hand and numbness down my arm making it feel weak. In addition, I was experiencing neck and low back pain making me feel like my head was not aligned with the rest of my body. The problems started in December 2012 and were progressively getting worse, until April when it became almost unbearable. In May, I went to a chiropractor who basically said I just had bones out of place in my hand and to go home and work it out. Needless to say, I did not go back. By June, the pain was interfering with my ability to work and I knew I had to try again. I was referred to Dr. Wines by a friend and am so glad I decided to make an appointment. The staff at Active Chiropractic is WONDERFUL! They really care about what I need as a patient and whether they think chiropractic care can indeed help with the issues I was experiencing. I have been receiving treatment from Dr. Wines for almost three months. The shaking in my hand has greatly diminished, along with the numbness, and my grip strength has improved. I can stand straighter and my neck pain doesn’t really bother me anymore. My low back pain depends on what I’ve done throughout the day but does not get as bad as it did before. Overall, I feel that I am able to do my job with less pain. I would definitely recommend Active Chiropractic to others, there are good people here and my pain has improved. Not to mention the Hydro Massage table is amazing! If you don’t know much about chiropractic I suggest you give it a try.
